BTW T2 will get replaced by lvl65-68 blues, with the exception of breastplate, which gets replaced earlier on. The lvl62-64 greens replace T1 not T2 as you mentioned. The T3 sets will last you till lvl70, although you'll need T3.5 to start raiding again, ie Kharazan.

thats all good and well but whats the point to raiding naxx when there is comparable gear out there in the greens? to be perfectly honest by them raising the level cap they've screwed things up more then doing anything else. why? because it off-sets the balance of the classes, it creates pissed off players like myself and most of my guild, and all previous instances will be obsolete. sure you could use the gear but when it gets down to it would you rather raid at 60 or continue leveling to 70? raid XP sux0r0s as the kids say, so in essnce the lvl 60raids are waste of time now more then ever... exspecially because you wont pug a BWL run.

If they wanted to be really smart they should have made leveling for 60-70 a part of the current lvl 60raids or put in hero classes.

I disagree about what ya'll are saying about shaman/pally alliance/horde thing...

See I'm all about giving players choices. Maybe someone wanted to play a pally because they like the class, but all their friends play horde characters. Vice versa with shaman. Anything that gives players more options and more variety, cool with me. Besides, alliance has it FAR easier in end game then horde does anyway, Horde could really use pally's help. Only to be fair, they give alliance shaman. anyone who has ever tanked ony/magmadar on horde side knows what I am talking about.. stupid Alliance priests/pally's with their fear wards and anti-fear abilities, Horde tanks have to stance dance!

enough on that... back to "To buy the expansion or not..."

I say give it a whirl.. New content, new races, more levels, all that and a bag of kittens. Never know what you could be missing. Think of it this way, buy it, try it out, see if you like it the new content and everything else. You do? Happy purchase. You don't? Not too big of financial loss by any means and at least you don't have to wonder what you could be missing out on.

and for new classes, they will come, eventually. adding new class is HUGE undertaking in terms of balance/content. if you think balance is a problem in WoW you've never been on the nerf bat side of every other MMO ever released. WoW PVP is suppose to be more of a paper/rock/scissors PVP system then a truely level playing field anyway. Little bit of talent/luck and you can level the field a bit.

oh and Blizz if you need help coming up with ideas for more classes search my posts where I mention my "Spell Breaker" class.

  • SunriderSunrider Member UncommonPosts: 527

but with a background like warcraft has, comming up with stuff shouldnt be too hard or even unheard of.

secondly... i've played multiple MMO's and have been on the end of a nerf bat more then once. I dont have a problem with balancing classes but i do have a problem when they come in and screw with spells and abilities and downsize their effectivness because players have come to rely on these abilities to survive. I think class balancing is a joke. if they were balanced then a priest should justifibly be able to do AS much damage as a rogue, and a rogue should be able to heal themselves. The entire reason to having classes is to work off of eachothers weakness and abilities.

If i'm in PvP and ambush a cloth wearer and drop his health by more the 3/4's then thats his weakness. He turns around and slaps me with 3+DoT's, i kill him and he gets his revenge through the DoTs, well thats just how things go, and thats where everyone has there strength and weaknesses from. If people want their class balanced and whine that a warrior can take too much damage and they're playing a shaman, then roll a warrior and play them.

If you balance the classes then in all fairness you need no one else to play with at any point in time. Its not called "balance" when you can solo a 5-man. its called borring.

Heck yah give the expansion a try.  Why not?  It's not like there is much else out there to play.  Besides a lot of my friends play WoW even more than I do.  Finally we get some new zones to play around in and explore.  And some new instances that don't require a 40 man raid to go through, yipee!  Sometimes this game seems so gear based to me it drives me crazy.  Why can't I go explore Naxx?  Because I'm not high level enough? NO.  Because I can't kind a group of 5 or 10 to go with me? NO.  Because I need to complete a few quests before I'm allowed access? NO.  Because without 40 other peps who haven't gone through MC, BWL, AQ 40 over and over and over again just get a few pieces of gear.

Running 5 mans with my friends and/or fellow guidies was the funniest part of WoW for me.  And when my friends weren't online and my other guildies were busy or already doing an instance I could go solo a little or roll a new toon.  I know this is more of the same and the endgame may end up being exactly the same as before but who cares?  Once I get to level 70, which will take me while, I'll be ready to try a different MMO.  I'm not sure what the answer to endgame is if it's not raiding.  Maybe effecting the world and changing it somehow.  I honestly don't know.  Any opinions on this would be great.

But I have to agree with my fellow posters in that I'm disappointed with no hero classes and no new classes/jobs to play.  I know people will complain about the lack of balance with any new classes introduced.  And guess what? That will happen no matter what.  But I think it would only add to the fun and replayability to an already fun and addicting game.  And this would only add to longer subscriptions which I would think Blizzard would love :)

This expansion will not reinvent the MMO wheel.  But for people who played WoW and liked it but left because of no new contact should enjoy TBC.  Let's just hope Blizzard brings out expansions more often than every 2 years.  If we get some really good MMO's in the next few years people may not stick around to wait for another expansion.

Main reason I left was lack of new content.  They took forever to patch (still do from what I hear) and the only thing they added was new raid content which most people did not want.  I was terminally bored at level 60.  I'm sure the same will happen at level 70, because all blizzard seems to know how to make is more of the same kind of content they already have.  That is, more instances and battlegrounds.  I really hope they add some new type of content after the expansion.  Only time will tell.

I hear a lot of people say that World of Warcraft is "addicting". I have to agree for a small part: when I finally got to play the game for the first time (during the open beta) I was hooked. I played 12 hours without taking a break and was screaming for more.

But, with no job at that moment, buying a game that required a monthly fee was not a smart thing to do. Lazy bum as I am, I waited till December 2005 to buy the game when I got a job at the local supermarket. And again, I was hooked for the holiday. After that I had to go to school off course, but when I came home I ran to my PC to go and play again. Good thing is that I noticed it myself and decided that this is not how I want to play the game.

I said to myself that I didn't want to play the game more than 2 hours a day to keep it under control. First week was hard because all I saw was new, but after a month the "newness" was off and I didn't play the game very much.

When I reached level 40, I stopped playing the game for 2 months... I had a mount and thought that the game didn't have much more to offer. I was wrong, and started playing again. Now I'm level 46 and it will take some while for me to reach level 60 / 70. But I think that's good. Although I'm positive that The Burning Crusade will speed things up a bit.

I think that The Burning Crusade is worth to be bought by any World of Warcraft player. The new races, new instances and new continent are off course "standard Add on stuff" but that ain't always a bad thing. First thing to do on the 16th is getting my copy... and then decide if I am going to make a nice Blood Elf or level up my good ol' Dwarf.

So for the people that don't want to read this whole piece of text:

Yes, I think that The Burning Crusade is worth to be bought by any World of Warcraft player.

I agree with the Hero classes. They were on the comming soon page for the first 6-8 months after release.

I say come back to WoW:

    1) You don't have to raid... at least until you hit 70.

    2) Most of the lower level dungeons can be completed in 45-90 minutes (times may vary based on group and gear)

If you want to be really casual, find a server that came up before TBC and has a low population. It will stay a ghost town.

Then you can level at your own pace for 6 months before they let transfers in.

I still think that one thing that ruined WoW was BGs. After they added BGs, they started nerfing and buffing classes, going from one extreme to another.
  • Star_GazerStar_Gazer Member Posts: 21
That's very true, after bgrounds blizzard has not stopped attempting to balance the classes.  You know they are having an extremely hard time when over 2 years after release they are STILL making big changes to classes.  For example in the latest patch they switched the dynamics of a shaman spell with another one, a pretty huge change.

If you have looked at the new shaman talents, they really suck.  The 41 pointers are all horrible, and I really hope they improve them since my main is a shaman.  The fact of the matter is that blizzard really does not know what they are doing with classes and I doubt they will add new ones in the next expansion even.

Whenever changes are made, people on the wow forums go crazy.  You'd think the world was ending.
  • teh.impteh.imp Member Posts: 37
That's indeed true. A friend and guild member of mine even stopped playing World of Warcraft after patch 2.0 because of the new Shaman talent build. OK, I can understand that you are pretty mad if they change something that looks to be worst than before, but to stop playing the game for that reason... I don't know.

A good thing about Blizzard is that they DO listen to the players. And a friend of mine said that (because of the screaming Shaman people) Blizzard will change it once again.

Ok let me start by saying i loved playing wow i been on it for 2 years but in does 2 years,i had feelings like this game was more of the same thing over and over again just in another skin when it came to me getting epic gear and stuff. With that being i will not be buying the expansion due to the fact that i was in beta and i got to see that it was all the same wow all over again just more xp needed to lvl, same type of quest go collect that kill this many of this. I was doing the same quests i was doing for the past 2years just in different zones. And once the grind was all over for me and i reached lvl 70 the only thing that was waiting for me was more raiding and a epic flying mount. Don't get  me wrong the flying mounts or cool but only as cool as the first time i got my epic land mount then after that it was just a mount.

The Cavens of Times of lots of fun but after you do it 2 or 3 times it felt like i was running baron or scholo or some other instance i did before. I will say tthis for ppl that where not is beta will enjoy themselves for a couple of months and for those who where in beta will still enjoy the game becuase they are playing with friends. Sadly enough i never had time to test the new pvp system eye of storm due to beta not much ppl i guess wanted to try it not sure.

To some this WOW is a great game due to the pick up and playablity it's learning curve and just the way the game plays. So TBC will give you more of the things you loved and hated about WOW.

I pre-ordered BC Collector's Edition for my husband when it became available.  About five days ago the amount from EB was debited from my bank account, in the "holding" section,  and the EB order page read that it was being processed.  Today I checked the bank again and it had disappeared completely.  Nothing debited from the account proper, nothing in the "holding" section.  I actually ordered two but the one I ordered for me didn't have overnight shipping because I'm not fussed about being in the starting rush.  I haven't even bothered to resub, yet.  I've been reading that many people who pre-ordered to pick up in the shops have been contacted and told that unless they are the first 50 (or whatever number that store received) they won't get one.  I've not heard anything about pre-orders being affected, however.  Who knows?  It may not bode well for the hubby.  (more snuggle time for me, though!  )

    Omg, where to start.

First off 40 man raiding was a by product of Everquest. EQ used to have 50, 100, and even 120 man raids regularly.

Second the shaman / paladin faction switch was partly because

    • a) balance issues, there really are tons and tons of encounters in TBC and many many more planned (undermine, naga empire, emerald dream ect..) not even in the for seeable future. Yes it's a cop out but if it means getting content out quicker (less time in development balancing) then sacrifice the few for the greater of the whole.
    • b) blizzard needed a reason for old timers to reroll when they didn't have to. Intoducing the options of playing pali's and shami's to bth horde and allaince will make at least a couple of ppl reroll and use the content they spent time making.
    • c) and to a lesser extent the gear distribution curve was slightly off  (I have never seen wars for loot  in 1.5 years on horde like saw between paladins and warriors for 2-hand swords). swords of course are not the only loot, but you can imagine across the board it does help distribution in slightly.
Third, a Dranei rogue, you've got to be kidding me.. =.=, their soo big.. and un..stealth...ish..... bleh.

Forth, battlegrounds was put in to relieve the stress world pvp was putting on questers.  It was a design flaw they hadn't even looked into untill it was too late and they had to push forward with BG's. To put it in perspective, Blizzard orignally wanted only world pvp, hence AV was originally in alpha a non instanced zone. Luckly for TBC blizz actually thought ahead and designed world pvp around the questers and causal players so they don't really interact with each other.

And finally, EVERY class in every game get's the "nerf" bat eventually. Priests were the first really to get hit hard and that was in beta, the followed by the HUGE rogue nerf patch right after release. Every class has their ups and downs, get used to it. Also expect casters to have the upper hand in pvp untill gear is evenly distributed at lvl 70. caster dmg scales really well with lvl but terribly with gear while melee is the complete opposite. In a way mages and locks had the biggest nerf of all because we were gods before epics.

p.s. don't whine about your "epics" being outdated, if you didn't have fun wiping constantly only to finally down a raidboss, then obviously your treating loot as something you deserve and not something you earned.

Update: got the expansion and loving it.  Went to a midnight opening if you can believe it (never though I would myself).

The new races are very well done, their starting areas and quests are excellent.  There are actually quests that ask you to use your racial abilities!  Who would have thought racial abilities could be put to good use?

Outlands is incredible.  The scenery and level of detail is greatly increased compared to Azeroth, and at nearly no noticeable performance difference.  I was standing outside of the horde town with my 60 shaman when all of a sudden infernals starting raining from the sky, 12 of them or so.  A group of blood elves who protect the area immediately began to slaughter them while I remained stunned from all of the impacts.  It was a sight to behold, and nice to see some different kind of events happening.

When the expansion come to live today I looked it over saw the alliance char was suppose to come from outer space or

something and that was the finale thing soon we see spaceships landing in SW ??

+ another god dam grinding  grr    I have now canceled my account.   and now currently reading after a new game

who have less grinding in it

    love mmorpgs, Frag Dolls

Unfortunately there are no MMORPGs without grind of some sort. The grind will always be there to keep the players occupied. You just get to choose the type of grind you prefer or is less annoying for you.

I hope that AoC will make a good MMORPG eventually. The problem however is not with the expectations. Anybody can imagine that <insert game name> fits his playstyle. Few manage to deliver.

I'm glad that WoW did not deviate horribly from what it made it fun (at least for me). It's a major problem with all the games once an expansion comes out. You eat an apple pie. Game company promises a new pie, but you find out it's no longer apple but cherry. I wouldn't mind apple with some cherries but turning 180o after an expansion is a game-killer and a fun-killer for me.

P.S. FFXI was the one that "deleted" accounts after 3 months inactivity.  They later rescinded that restriction.
The problem isnt that there arent enough 5-10 mans at the --> beginning <--, but we know how it will turn out. There wont be any more 5-10 mans later to advance your charakter, there will be just raid after raid after raid.

Look at the beginning of WoW "Classic" there were alot of 5-10 mans also in the beginning and later on they just developed raid after raid and ---> nothing else <---.

Thats the only thing I hate about WoW  that the game is so focused on raids and which keeps me quiting always. For every Raid they develop they should also develop a 5-10 man instance with heroic mode where items drop with same quality as in the new raid (but sure to balance it out the bosses in heroic mode shouldnt drop always epic so it would take nearly same time to get your epic gear, Iam sure you could find a balance). Now then at least for me this game would be awesome uber good :P but so, not so much. I just hate raiding.
