I'm a fairly new MMO player. WoW was the first MMO i truly played and enjoyed. After being sick of WoW, I've been looking for a new game.
Vanguard may be that game.
I'm now level 5 on my necromancer on the PVP server (FFA servers at launch!). And I'm am enjoying my experience so far.
My PROS:
Huge world
Lots of classes and races
CONS
Runs aight on my machine.
Thats my own little mini-review. Take it as you will. I was never ever looking forward to Vanguard. I am no fan boi. But, I'm enjoying the world that Sigil built.

I think your first line sums up why your ok with VSoH.
For new comers this game is going to apeal I have no doubt about that. For those of us that are EQ1 and DAoC vets... this game is like a nightmare of sameness that we truly hoped we might never see again.

Another thing people are going to realize pretty quickly is that the content is pretty thin after you finish the new player areas. Everyone ignores the terrible performance because for the first 10- levels, the game is pretty fun and even seems to be close to ready for launch. I'm interested in hearing how they feel about it at level 15.... since i managed to get several characters up that far before getting bored with them and re-rolling.
People who just got in to the beta all assume that there is some miracle patch around the corner that will fix performance, even though the devs are only claiming a possible 10% increase in FPS by launch. When pressed on the issue they generally point out how "cheap" new hardware is. I guess when you are buying your hardware with Sony's money it might seem that way... but I certainly won't drop 200 bucks on RAM to play this game, when every other game I play runs great at high settings.

Agreed, I loved those games. Those games (along with UO and WoW) grabbed me and yanked me into the game. They had a "feeling" about their games that was immenseful and was enjoyable. Vanguard has none of that, I dreaded playing after a half hour of play. The combat animations alone are enough to log out, let alone the chunky-unrealistic animations of the toons."Censorship is never over for those who have experienced it. It is a brand on the imagination that affects the individual who has suffered it, forever." - Noam Chomsky

Aye it has nothing new to offer for us MMO veterans. After a couple weeks of playing it felt really old for me, but I can see some relatively new players to the genre having fun for a while with VG.I think your first line sums up why your ok with VSoH.

I have been playing MMO's since their inception and I find your statment to be completely backwards for me razorback. I played EQ for 3 or 4 years and this is exactly the game I have been hoping I would see. Try playing it for more than 20 minutes and tell me it's a "nightmare of sameness".
