To All Who Thinks This Game Is Horrible, And to The Ones who Love It

Hello All.I am a direct player from the game first of all. I have  been playing since it ever started. If you would like to berate me for my post in game, my in game name is MasonDonn, on Da Gama server. Feel free to scream at me while i either A: beat your ass, or B: dont give a fuck cause i love this game.

Ok, On to my post.. I have heard horribel comments about this game. Everyone that has played it loves it, yes their are a few bugs, BUT their are no reports of not being able to access their account. If you had any trouble with this, simply email the company, they will gladly help out. Now, Someone said, Im not using their name, That this game doesnt deserve to be above COH or EQ2. Well, gor your information I was a hardcore gamer on them, but i didnt like the idea you had to pay. then came along VCO. I fell in love with the game. I found it to be as good, if not better then those games, with graphics rivaling them, And things you could never do in them. And i also LOVED the fact you did not have to pay!  Someone else said it had a horrible UI, and an overly-long tutorial for nothing. I cna address those two subjects here.

1. The U.I is slim, and designed for versatility. It is not horrible, as i see everything in perfect spots, easy to access and ready to use.

2.If you thought the tutorial was overly-long, then gave up on the game because of that, Your have the shortest attention span and narrowest mind. The tutorial was 15 minutes, tops, introducing all the basic and slightly advanced functions of sea battle and the UI. COH's tutorial was 20-30 minutes, introducing you to what, how to equip and enhancement, click anicon to fight, and enter missions? and your gonna say VCO"s is too long?

I have to say, this is an excellent game. Does it deserve the top 7? Might, might not. But at least give it a try. Dotn listen to these 2 10 year olds running around and trying to give VCO a bad name. Try.Then rate it. It doesnt deserve to be destroyed by 2 10 year olds running around an saying a FREE game that rivals COH and EQ2, doesnt deserve to even be here.

And..To conclude this post, I will reccomend all players i cna to this game. If you want a fun game, with MANY 9I mean many, like 15 diffrent0 paths to choose, or if you want to be all of them, play this. You will find their is a friendly user-base in this great-graphics, complex, but in a good way, MMORPG. You have to try it before you knock it. If you encounter a problem, post on the forum, get a reply, then continue on your merry way. And be honest, dont say its horrible if you love it.

And to the two 10 year olds who are gonna flame me, get the hell out of MMORPGS.com. It doesnt deserve people like you. I dont care if you flame me. I love this game, thier is no way anyone could change that.

Signed,

MasonDonn, A Representative of the friendly VCO player-base.

Morning Donn Its good to see VC has supporters like you I've been playing mmorpgs are long as anyone else on this forums.

In over a decade I've yet to find a mmorpg from america capture quite as many elements as VC has. I've always enjoyed sandbox style mmorpgs. Hrmm on second thought Eve really is the biggest sandbox.. I just like the sea better then space*Shrugs*

Whatever the case may be I support this game and encourage others to try it. Just please go to Donns server! Columbus is stuffed like 100 sardines in a tuna can. Hrmm doesnt lag to badly though. Except the market place in Athens heheh.

Thanks, Glad to see another supporter too.

And yeah, if you play, start on Da Gama, Columbus and Magellan are packed, and Da Gama started less than a week ago so it has a medium amount of Players. Feel free to PM me in game with questions praise, whatever except flaming. Constructive Critizim is acceptable.

I am downloading the game right now, I got tired of waiting for PotBS so I ran across this and thought it looked cool. The whole sandbox thing with the being able to build farms and sail sounds cool to me. I have a question does someone have a rough estimate on how many people play, Im just curious, if its like Dark and Light then you know I might not play it but the way it sounds it has a large and friendly community. I look forward to playing and I will play on the Da Gama server.

Best free game on the market today, no doubt about it. Heck, probably best free game I have played since I started with computer games in 1973. (Even if a Missile Command arcade machine is holding a close second)

So far I am enjoying VCO

Of course a F2P cash shop RPG will never be able to rival a P2P product for obvious reasons but VCO at least is the first F2P MMoRPG that I consider worth to play for its quality, not just for the price.

On the other hand I can partly understand the people who are hating the game since, let's face it most F2P MMoRPGs are simply not worth wasting your time with and are only played by the freeloader crowd that will love just about anything into high heavens as long as it's free. Best example for this would be Silkroad. *shudder*

It's safe to say however that VCO at least provides a breath of fresh air for now and while it's definatly not a top 10 game it's still miles ahead of all the F2P cookie cutter MMoRPGs.

    Oh man...

All I can say is, DO NOT install this game if you want to keep a life! I haven't been this immersed in a game since UO!

    What a GREAT game!

A lot of people play but they're adding another server in the next few days. So far the people have been real nice, I've been a bit surprised by that. But this game is geared to people with more patience and who like more depth to their games so that helps. It's truly the most insane game I've ever played.

Just a word of caution...DO NOT go into the battle grounds when you get a nice ship, you WILL NOT want to stop playing!

No way! Seville is where its at baby! Alot of people are leaving the craddle of the Mediterranean finally and Seville is the gateway to the world. Albeit my guilds focusing on taking london, most trades are occuring in Seville or Lisbon.

I've been playing Voyage Century for the last couple of days. There are a lot of very raw aspects to it still, like a ton of typos and mispelled words and so forth, but I assume some of that is due to it being originally released in Asia and only recently released to an English speaking audience. It has been interesting so far, and I'm going to keep at it for a while and see how things go.

Since it is free to play really the best thing anyone could do would be to just download it and try playing and if you don't like it, no harm done, just uninstall it.

Be forewarned, however, that the presentation isn't as slick as something put out by a major studio like SOE or Blizzard - the graphics are pretty good but like I said, it is kind of raw in some ways in its present shape - but if you can overlook that and give it a shot, the game does it have its merits and fun.

Ive now played this game for a couple of days and I think its a great game. And for just having come out of beta a couple of weeks ago it a good game. The translations are hilarious but also distracting because sometime you actually dont understand what the person is talking about. Some things they should add are some type of a House constructing thing in the Foundry skill, that way you could build a farmhouse next to your crops and have a fence around it. They also could have added a little more to the tutorial because I was kind of lost on how to get to the point where I can upgrade my ships lvl but im sure I just have to have a higher sea battle lvl. The games graphics arent all that bad actually, they could be better, in the future the developers could upgrade the graphics but just out of beta, they are good. I would give this game an 8/10, pretty darn original, not medieval run around with a sword and bow killing orcs. You can have a gun and cannons, one other thing, the whole point and click thing isn't my favorite way of moving in games, they could probably fix that to make it WASD controls. But overall its a really great game and in the time to come in will probably be upgraded, have more players for better PvP and have more weapons and plants and crafting things. Oh and the way the skills work is great, its not just a go and kill 100 giant mutant worm things and you level up, you have many different skills to level up and you can choose to buy the skills you want to advance in, then you can level up only the skills you want to and you can spent stunt points on special abilities for that skill. Its kind of like runescape ( crappiest game ever, equal to flyff and oz world) except better because you buy the skills and you can lvl up what you want to and you can have special abilities. and the whole dying thing is weird, you have to relog in each time you die. ok thats it for now.

I think this game is very good, one thing that would improve the game for western players, would be awsd control, cause some people think "not aswd = crap" wich isnt true... I love this game because it  has elements like runescape, and one vital and cool thing, is the general store in runescape that when you sell a item it appears avaliable to other players buy,  that would be a great thing and that would fresh the economy, just play runescape go to a general store and see, cause i cant explain it very well... players make the market...

ps- the general store would have a limit cargo, so people would wait to sell the items, and it would be funny like wall street, like a economic fest (not sarcastic)

I see this very much as a orgeon trail type of game to be honest, just multiplayer.

I like it for it's "Hey thats pretty neat" or how it makes me feel like I'm playing a age of sail era game.

Not to mention it's pretty cool for a freebie.

I am enjoying this game so far, the skill system reminds of SWG. Not in a bad way.

Though this game is a bit rough around the edges, I think if they fix the translations, and some of the graphics bugs, it should be a good game.

Oh BTW I'm Griswold on Dagama

It's rough alright, but it could be alot ALOT worse.

I'm having a blast with sea battles been at this game for about 2 weeks or so give or take a day.

Hello everybody! Just installed this game because I got tired of waiting for a PotBS beta invite, lol. Anyways, this game look awesome. When you guys are talking about servers, are all server content the same, or does each server have different empires (ie. one server has british/french/american  troops and ships, another server has asian troops/ships). The reason I was asking because the server I logged on only has asian characters (like mongol pirates). Is there a server that has Brittish/French/American character classes?

    Just curious.  Thanks guys.

Nope, just the charecters you see at the startup. Id like to see some other player classes as well but thats one heck of a upgrade. Youd have to model new charecters. Probably add new missions and cities.. Im not even sure if the dev team for this game has modelers. To my knowledge there just managing the code they bought from the people who made Hanghai. Basically just a franchise. I guess from what I gather there just trying to adjust the existant code to please there customer. Now Bounty Onlines a whole different ball of wax. It has a subscription cost so now sure if they can afford or will hire modelers. Anywho back to work for me

Ok, thanks for the info. Can anyone recommend which server to start on?
  • skiennieteeskiennietee Member UncommonPosts: 5
Try amarican server 1 or 2 for start up

and in game have they staret a new server James Cook
  • TechleoTechleo Member Posts: 1,984
Id recommend playing on Columbus. With all the new servers its population is down enough you can enjoy it without lag. Not to mention the biggest guilds are in Colum. The one issue I have is, it seems this server all but culturally died when Cook popped up. People arent trying to acheive any goals and its depressing. Heck even the two big war guilds are idley doing there own thing with no pvp! Just a few hours before the release there was insane activity! Alot of people are a bit peturbed with the new server.. Anywho back to work lol

Colombus is a good server i play it myself. And people help you when you ask.

I have to say this is a game that has an option for just about everyone.  You want to spend time being a merchant and making the best darn items, you can be that guy.  If you want to be a pirate that raids ships and ports go for it.  Want to be a pharmacy....why not.  The options are way open so you can change your mind if you want.  Not many games out there can give you so many open career paths.  This I think is this games strong side.  The graphics are not great but good enough.  The music scores are ok as well.  The quests right now are also ok but seem to have a lot of room for improving and expanding so career paths can cross to create a multitude of multi-career type players.  If you have not tried this game, it is a must try.  I know it will not please everyone but it will at the least give most a few weeks of really fun exploration.
