it does my head in when you see entries from people giving it all the big pc's are better than consoles because of this that and the other, or consoles are better than pc's because of whatever.
i personally have both a pc and a ps2 and enjoy playing on both. it just gets on my nerves when people start throwing around insults just because people perefer pc's or consoles for whatever reason.
what do you think ??

Some people treat these things religiously: Mac vs PC, Linux vs Windows, or even vi vs emacs (moot argument IMHO as they both suck).
I prefer PC's myself for no other reason in that I can do a lot more with a computer than I can a console.
Mind you, I have multiple PC's and a console, and like both. My PC's are better for some games, the console is more enjoyable for others. I think the kind of game one plays makes a difference for some which they own. You don't see alot of RTS'ers using consoles for example.
Both have their strengths and weaknesses. It's just a matter of the type of gamer that depends on which of the two you may prefer. I myself think both are great and I'll keep playing them as long as I have fingers to move.

bear in mind that not everyone cana fford both a PC and a console due to cost's.
For example if you are an working adult most of you will have a PC because you work.
Kiddies and Teens dont work in real jobs so will most likely go fot the Teen friendly Console.
Of course there are exeptions to this.
Not true at all, unless you need the absolutely best hardware every 1/2 a year, you can easily build a good PC one day, thats not even top of the line, and make it run 3 years with perhaps minor upgrades (graphics card and maybe more ram depending on how much you put in it in the first place). Granted it helps if you know what your doing when building/maintaining/upgrading it, but it is doable, as I'm doing it right now, and I've only just begun to save for a new PC (and that'll prolly take me to the end of the summer or Christmas).

But to play the newest and most graphically demanding games, you can't use a run-of-the-mill PC if you want to experience it to it's fullest ability. You never have that issue with a console. And you made my other point for me when you mentioned building/maintaining/upgrading your PC. Not everyone wants to build their own system, me included. I don't have a problem upgrading when necessary, but I've yet to build a computer and probably never will on my own. With a console it comes out of the box and is ready to go. You won't have to take it apart or worry about spending $100 to upgrade one part.
I'm not saying one is better then the other. I'm just saying that the PC has its flaws compared to a console, as a console has its flaws compared to a PC.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
Lisp? Geez...
I know you're being funny, but I don't even code inside Unix any more. The last editor I ever used in Linux was KDE's kate. I liked it.
Don't knock pico either, it's the best part of pine!
Nowadays, I use Bloodshed Dev C++ - or just plain old Crimson Editor
I actually used Pico for 70%-80% of my coding projects on linux.... I do like emacs more than vi though... but only because Vi confuses me... And I do understand the power of emacs.. but most of the time I simply didn't need it... I would just need to make quick programs nothing more than 1000 lines of code... so Why pull out emacs when it wasn't neccessary
