Direct X 10 Age of Conan movie from CES

Greets,

Enjoy the movie that was posted earlier today on IGN! It shows of the DX10 potential, and that's one of the first two games which actualy are able to run using DX10 (the other one is CRYSIS). So i can only imagine what can we expect of future PC gaming including MMORPG games :)

link to the video page on IGN -> Get it now!

Best regards

That video looks better than the other.

Couple things I'm curious about though:

It seems that was just footage of the single player aspect.  How well will that hold up in the mmo part of the game?

I only heard them mention 3 types of attacks, and from everything I've read in this forum there's supposed to be more, what gives?

Given the fact that we can "control" where we hit, can we also control evasive maneuvers aswell?

That footage did get me abit more interested in AoC, but.....I'm not a big fan of the raiding aspect of it all.

There will be 6 types of basic mele attacks that will be later on mixed into combo moves with some extra special moves fitted between each hit and everything will eventualy end up with a fatality blow that can for ie decapitate your enemy.

Do not suggest yourself with the video when it comes to attacks variety as the char out there is level 1 and it isn't realy a killing machine, yet hehe.

    Regards

Did you notice the lag everytime an NPC came up?  I'm just rying to imagine 10-15 players walking into my view distance. :(

Graphics on DX10 look much much better.  The character's skin looks amazingly better.  Animations are still boring to watch more than once or twice.  That character did the same attacks over and over to kill those guys.  For a  "revolutionary" game mechanic, it looks more dull the more they show of it.  Seems repetitive.

Scenery looks insanely better, and it look amazing already.  Can't wait until they muster up the balls to put out an actual PvP gameplay movie.

Those graphics and animations are pretty nice. I'm wondering how the performance is going to be when there are major guild battles though. I'm sure a lot of you remember the mess with those in Shadowbane so hopefully this one will run smoother. That's going to push a lot of comps though, that's pretty nice looking.

Has anyone seen any video footage from the other classes like a caster? I'm curious as to how they look too.

looks about x10 better than any MMORPG ever.

If that piece of crap vsoh needs a 2gig ram to be playable, i wonder what kind of requirements Conan will have... polygon count is not exactly low in this beast either.

I guess it depends on the programming and the engine used. But if it's like VG, they're going to be in trouble because the animations are ten times better on AoC. I've been wondering about that, that's why I commented on raiding when that's implemented. That might bring this game to a crawl but who knows. I know one thing though, the graphics and animations look great so performance tweaking and bug removal should be the majority fixes during beta. I'd rather see nice animations and gameplay implemented first and work out the kinks verses crappy animations and gameplay promised later on.

The video interview at that link was nice too. Shows a better representation of some of the combat in there than the DX10 vid i think.
