I placed a pre-order with Amazon.com for Vanguard. I've read that pre-orders will get beta keys, but since Amazon doesn't send out anything on a pre-order until after the game is released and shipped, I'm not seeing how I can get into beta without subscribing to FilePlanet (which ain't happening).
Can anyone shed light on Beta 5 access or Amazon "pre-order" thing?

Go back to them and ask them for the pre-order box which contains a cd along with the key. The key is a small card inside the box which has the number, letters actually, that you'll need to write down while downloading the beta.
When I pre-ordered I didn't get but a reciept for the $5 I paid. Went back a week later when the cd's came out and got it. Show them your receipt and you should get it now.
You may be out of luck, but there's still hope. The pre-order boxes everyone is talking about are distributed when you make the pre-order title reservation at selected retailers. Most of the time you have to ask for this stuff. Old news, I know, but these are the ONLY stores who got a hold of them. I think the group was Best Buy, Fry's, Gamestop, and some other places. They may still have some pre-order boxes, so try and schedule a trip to one of them. In fact, it wouldn't hurt to call them up and ask.
As for your current reservation, I'd hold onto it until you are certain you can get it elsewhere with the pre-order box. In any case, hope you find one.
