How Dynamic is The combat in EVE?

Is it Fast is it Graceful? how much does movement contribute to it (can you dart and weave around the enemys?) or do you simply click and watch?

hmm hard to say it is active but your not going to be actiongame style fighting its more strategy style combat. you need to be aware but fast reflexes really wont help you however good tactics and brains will help you ALOT

Pretty much just click and watch.  Most combat is over before you actually spawn into the world though.  95% of combat in EVE is spawn camping jumpgates.  You either have to equip your ship EXCLUSIVELY for pvp or you'll get trounced.

Depends on you. For the most part people click and watch. Then you get those who like to control their ships themselves. I saw a clip on a Interceptor in a battle where he bobbed and weaved all over the place. Depends on what you want.

One thing is for certain it is not like Freelancer controls or a wsad control. Double click with the mouse and you go in that direction.

yup plus you cant dodge fire by just swerving your ship out of the way , the combat is more of a group effort...in one on one the ship types generally determine the winner

Im not persay trolling i check this forum when i get up befor work and when i go to bed. perhaps i am being standoffish with you but as i said in the other post thats only because im tired of people comming here and putting flames in against the game and its community esp when 90% of the stuff they are saying is unfounded and full of crap i dont understand your need to come in here blasting the community and the game. I certainly dont go into other games forums blasting their game and community even ones like wow that i acually tried for a few months and came to hate.

This what I have been trying to say for awhile. I have never been to the WOW forums. I did try Anarchy Online and Dark Age of Camelot for a change of pace from Eve and never enjoyed them. I have never gone there to post and Flame those games. I did not enjoy them but others might. So give it a go free trial and all that.

Why do they feel they need to come here and either flame Eve or it's players? Any Eve player who tries to say anything about what they enjoy are either Flamed or called Fanboys. Why?

I came to post some good reviews about other games I tried and liked recently.  But yea it always yanks my chain to see EVE still listed at the top of the rankings.  Its a decent game for a very specific PVP-centric, cutthroat type of player that doesnt mind having weeks of work destroyed by some bored dude.  The EVE player base is WAY too small to account for its super high ranking especially since lots of people that try EVE or used to play it dont like it at all.  You like it fine - but dont make it out to be something its not - and dont just flame people that try to inform other people what they are getting themselves in to.

If you don't like it don't come and flame the people that do and do not make it out to be something it is not with all the negative points.

The game has negative points and postive points. People would not get upset with you if you posted both.

So because the game is at the top and YOU don't like it you bad mouth it. IS that fair?

Edit: I changed unset to upset as I am not sure unset is in the English dictionary Somewhere between unhappy and upset.

First of all you sir came here posting a thread flaming us. yes us the community if you read that thread there is no dout it is targeted specificaly at the community. in it you post completely untrue crap. following that you come here and post that the combat in eve is over befor you can even see the screen 90% of the time and that to not have this happen you haveto setup a ship specificaly for PVP to avoid this happening. wich is untrue i have never once been blown up befor loading or before being able to react. first of all at gates your gate cloaked so being blown up befor loading is next to impossible. and at undocking if they manage to blow your ship up befor you even saw the screen they are likely running alot of sensor boosting and if you were in something like a BS they would need a pretty sizeable ammount of firepower and already waiting for you to undock. losing a ship that fast is possible but ide say the chance of it happening is EXTREMELY improbable



also did you ever stop to think that mabe eve has such good ratings because it is good and has a loyal and active playerbase who want to bring more players to our game and truely believe the game is great

Oh my dear friend. You dont know anything about this game at all. I like this game, and I am not that mentioned cutthroat type. But if you will be little older, you will see, that the real world is far from the other mmorpgs silly "no confrontation" style... Otherwise there were no poors, no fear, no wars IRL. EO is not a hideout from he RL, if you are searching for it, you wont find it here.

Do you go crying about all games you suck at being too hard, or is EVE just special?

Hi Faseless,

EVE combat is mostly click and watch, but tactics are important. Overall it is a strategy game rather than an action game.

If you liked Homeworld, I guess you will also like EVE. If you prefer games like Freelancer, EVE may be the wrong choice for you.
