Tech 2 market spoils Eve for me

emptyballoonemptyballoon Member Posts: 26

The high price and the lack of the larger t2 ships and modules is really putting me off Eve.

I was testing on Sisi and a corp mate with similar skills to me, ownd me in every t2 ship with her flying a Dominix.

So, I am most effective when flying a 60M ship, so there is no point in getting a HAC or Command Ship.

I fly an Enyo by choice, but it is too small for some tasks.  But I have been flying my Dominix for over a year now and I am finding it quite boring.

I agree the current T2 system is simply unacceptable, putting isk in the pockets of a few and leaving out the majority... But fear not! A new feature called 'Invention' is soon coming to EVE. It allows players to develop T1 BPO's and create T2 BPO's.

Actuallt invention is already here and its effects can already be see for example.

Look at the cap rechargers 2 they have fallen in price since the market recently got fludded with loads of them.

    This is a new complaint...

I enjoyed eve the most pre exodus when the only tech 2 we had was interceptors and safe spots were still safe.

Also speed is king in EVE, it always has been, dual mwd way back in the day (dual mwd energy sucking thorax was awesome), taranis's and crows in the early days of tech 2, vagabonds not to long ago, and now it's tech 2 battlecruisers and battleships with nanofibers or them inertial things.

if I were to kill a titan tomorrow and no CCP employees showed up to say grats I would petition it.
Waiting for: the next MMO that lets me make this macro
    if hp < 30 then CastSpell("heal") SpellTargetUnit("player") else CastSpell("smite") end

Um... in EVE if a battleship is fitted for a specific opponent that specific opponent has very little chance of winning a 1 on 1 fight.

EVE is about rock paper scissors.  You fit to their weakness.  If you know their weakness ahead of time your odds of winning go WAY up.

And a Battleship is worlds better, in pure combat power, properly fitted, than any T2 ship in the game asside from a Mothership or Command Ship.  (and command ships, I'd say, aren't really better... more like.... equivalent.... BS has more firepower... Command ship has better resists).

Not to mention the fact that the Dominix is one of the most versatile BS's in the game.

Tech2 ships main advantage is they allow you to fill more roles at once.  They're not necessarily more powerful than some tech1 ships (especially if you're comparing them to a tech1 ship a class larger)  just.... less limited in role.

IE:  A HAC is tons better than ANY cruiser... but against the Battlecruisers they're not as strong.... just more versatile.

Once me and my corp mates were at war with a very deadly Pirate corp [we were a mining corp so pretty obvious why the decked us]. Because we were not very combat oriented we basically hid in ower HQ station most of the time with one or 2 off the 3 person pirate corp camping us  [we were a 12 man and 1 woman corp] well basically the ceo was on the verg of paying the large corp ransom so we could go out and mine till i came up with a way to beat them dispite opwer lack of PvP skills.

The ceo after hearing my paln gave it the go ahead i set asside a week training an alt with scanners and stuff as did 2 other corp members and we got an alt into the Pirate corp who stayed on all the time helping them out [or so they thiought] It was then we learnt that despite ther bravado in local calling us cowards etc they were really pissed off.

Anyway my scanning alts purpose was to fly out of the station and fly away while passivly scanning there ships so we got there EXACT fittings. When we knew we used ower considerabel resources and hauling non corp alts to supplie us with ships fitted with tech 1 look specifically to kill there setups. Suffice to say ower first attempt my cruiser verses one of there ravens was a real moral boost for the corp. I took no armour damage and i killed the raven.

I could do this because i knew exactly what he fitted and how amny stabs ghe had. Now not to say the pirate corp were elites or anything tho as they usually ahd 4 stabs fitted as standard which tellys you the sort of PvP peple they were but it was fun seeing them get ganked by miners.

Realize that for the most part T2 ships are Extremely dependant on cap, most Dominix PVP fits include a MWD and from 2-6 NOS. End run is that a dominix is one ship easily capable of ripping each and every T2 ship to shreads as it litterally sucks the life blood of the ship of it.

Oh yeah: T2 ships were never designed to be the be all and end all ships in EVE, When used for thier purpose they excel well, but they tend to be easily countered due to thier specific nature.

A very good point Nicoli :)  Since I'm Caldari I keep forgetting the other races T2 ships are so cap dependant.   The Cerebus and Nighthawk are generally fitted with passive tanks (mostly) so I had completely forgotten about that.   Yeah... flying a domi against a Tech2 almost anything the domi is going to have the advantage due to its vamps and neuts.

Matter of fact.... free advice to dominix vamp pilots:

For every 2 NOS you fit, fit 1 Energy Neutralizer/Destabilizer.  You'll still gain power just fine but you'll drain them 4-5x faster.

Matter of fact since my Raven doesn't need much cap at all I use my 2 spare slots for heavy neutralizers instead of NOS :)  If a tackler gets close enough to tackle me they eat the equivalent of 10 heavy NOS's :)  Needless to say they don't generally manage to lock me down for very long :)  And once they lose their MWD (due to being drained in 1 cycle) I can happily ignore them and either warp away or blow them up.

What kind of crap-ass raven setup both uses no cap and has enough grid free to fit a pair of heavy neuts?

And what kind of crap-ass tackler is going to have trouble keeping a scrambler going against something with a 24s cycle time to neut?
