Legion of my friends, and clanmates in other MMORPGs started to enter seconds counting mode.

l2 orphus is shutting down dude  there was news about it a week or so ago.

Hey, I got a questoin about open beta.  I've always done closed, and because of that I've always had some company chuck a set of cds at me.  So how the heck do I get the client?  Do I just go to there websight and download it or do I us FTP, or what?

I am not sure how they are going to do it for Open Beta but for Closed they give you a key and you use that to setup an account on the L2 webpage, then you download the client from there.

I havent heard of any option to get it in CD format.

That is what plaync.com is. They can not get the 250MB sectionals d/l error free (that is beyond the aprox 180MB a normal dial-up user can d/l before many isp force a reconnect and that previous d/l does not allow a resume, so the previous attempt to d/l is LOST.) Now they want to force a 1.1GB d/l ... that is about 84 hours on 56k. It is not even split to two managable sizes so one could d/l on a high speed connection, burn a couple CDs and then take to PC and install there.
Previous names and passwords to plaync.com and lineage2.com are lost, since trying to log in brings up incorrrect password or no such user.
So much for lineage2.

The days of playing mmorpg's on dial-up are over. Deal with it. If yer still on dial-up you are a cheap bastard and you don't fit their marketing demographic anyway. . .

Comeon! There's good download managers out there. Even if you have to reconnect 20 times the file should be ok.
