I'm more hyped about AoC. Funcom have proven they're innovative with about every title they released. The single player stuff was great and despite all it's technical shortcomings Anarchy Online is a longrunning and one of the most unique MMOs around.
I gotta agree though that the videos so far had mediocre graphics and poor animations for the most part. Then again I only have an average machine, so that's not necessarily a bad thing, as long as they get the content right.
War, a copy of the good bits of WoW, but not the grind, the gear dependancy or the raid or die mentality. PvP focus to WoW's PvE focus.
AoC, an innovative style game with crappy graphics from the company that brought you run fixer run.
How is it AoC has crappy graphics?
I'm gonna go with AoC because it will actually require some player skill due to the far superior combat to any other mmo. sorry mate, but ive seen the latest video they've put out, i know that i seem to be the only person saying this, but watching it my eye was drawn to the 6 poly character models and the 3 different face textures.
take for example the section of the CES video where the trebuchets are firing, seen the trail effects on the rocks? urgh.
still, gameplay > graphics, so im holding out some hope for AoC, but i see a lot of fanbois who wont even say "yes, the graphics were a bit shoddy in that last video, lets hope they tidy it up" or "yes, F.U.ncom need to pull their stuff together and ensure a better release" or "im not sure that raiding is the best idea for AoC, lets talk about this a bit" or "isnt the combat just going to be about mashing the keyboard?" so im trying to be the antithesis of them.
the two most anticipated titles at the moment. WAR online. the copy of WoW but with more pvp AOC. the game endorsed by the governor of california!
Warhammer Online, WOW as it should have been
AoC, the game that has nothing whatsoever to do with Arnold except for a name
Sorry to disagree with you there, but it makes me cringe inside whenever people compare the game to those craptastic movies.

I think Funcom probably learned their lesson about launches from AO. I doubt they'd repeat anything like that (eg. first 20 lvls offline).
The graphics look really nice to me, environment especially. The character faces are a bit lacking, but the armor/weapons and environment look great. I hate the "plastic" looking armor and swords 20 times the size of your character like you see in WoW and asian MMOs. I'd actually prefer that the character models have fewer polygons so that large PvP battles are doable without lag.
The combat itself looks innovative to say the least. I'm sick of the EQ style targeting system and autopilot MMO combat. Hopefully it'll be something like Prince of Persia combat in MMO form. However, as Vanguard has shown, looks can be deceiving.
Not being a warhammer fanatic, WAR and WoW look too similar for me to really be excited about it from the screens. I like Mythic and RvR so I'll reserve judgement until I see the gameplay in action.
(For the record the first Conan movie was great. One of the best B movies around. Although I realize the movies don't follow Howard's books.)

Yet you forgot the high detail texture, high polygon count, good usage of bloom, beautiful geometry on the landscapes, smooth high detail animations, great bumb and enviroment mapping, and so on.
You can't say the graphics sucks because they've only finished 3 different faces. You gotta look at the graphics engine.
In my opinion WAR does just not offer enough that is new or unique and who honestly thinks that WAR's graphics are better than AoC's should seriously do some research. I admit that I dont like the casting effects ( like many people) but the world, the weapons, the armors etc look great. The rocks fired by the trebuchet that you mentioned are not completely worked out. In the last video they were shown they didn't even exist so I suppose we'll have to wait and see what it looks like when its done.
I don't think Microsoft would have taken AoC as a DX10 showcase title if it had crappy graphics anyway.
This is an example screenshot from that "crappy" looking game. It's ingame graphic. ( I dowsized it so it might be better if you looked at the originals, but i wanted to arouse your interest)
ok look like both games anyone who says wow and war look to much the same should go stick there head in some dirt for a few years
WAR has been around much longer then wow and is very popular. and MYthic has yet to disapoint me
But still AOC will destoy anyother mmo out its so new and nothing lke any other game out there
anyone who think they need to upgrade their comps wont really have to AOC will be running on DX9 and windows XP wont only be for vista and DX10 and always you could turn down the graphics
WAr looks good and would kill wow and is so much better wow my be a greatgame but WAR will top it
AOC will beat both wow is a "been there raided that" and gets old
AOC is new fresh and beautiful to say the least "praise crom!"

I guess I'll say I'm a little more hyped about AoC though only because it's nearer.
1. attempt to get into beta of WAR,
2. get AoC when it comes out.
if point 1 fails, play AoC for a bit, get WAR when it comes out.
compare, contrast, decide.
