New MMO - Asian Grind Marathon 15: Fires of Heaven

An exciting new game being developed by Braindrain Games TM.

Enter a world of excitement and mystery that has been torn apart by decades of war. Only your imagination is the limit of what can be achieved in the amazing world of Generica. Conquer vast empires single handedly while flying through the heavens on wings of fire while your guild sails below in ships of Ivory gold on their way to the shores of Lusiturania where heroes are greeted by savage dragons that can be tamed as mounts and evil Shades who well up from the darkness of the Shontoku Abyss nestled deep in the Valley of the Kings.

Are you the chosen one?, will you unite the races in time for The Quickening before all the world falls into chaos. Anything is possible.. in Generica.

The Elves

The Elves are the oldest race on Generica, tall gracefull, beautiful. They are arrogant and aloof, considering themselves superior to all other races. They spend most of their time in their homeland of Forestwood where they pursue interests of art, music and skimpy outfits. However when the need arises the Elves are powerfull spellcasters and will employ powerful majiks to defend themselves and their home.

The Elves can choose to the play the Caster Class.

The Humans

The youngest race, they feel the need to prove themselves to the other denizens of Generica. As such they are often reckless and foolhardy, taking risks with no thought to their personal safety.

The Humans can choose to play the Fighter Class.

The Fluffykins

A mysterious and engimatic race. The Fluffykins are short and furry with a child like appearence. Often underestimated by the other races for theirharmless demeanour, they are quick to take advantage with their lightning reflexes taking the enemy down from range before they can be overwhelmed by their strength

The Fluffykins can choose to play the Shooter Class.

AGM15:FOW has many varied and interesting classes.

At level 1 the player will choose their race and its primary class group - Fighter, Caster, Shooter. When the player reaches level 10 they will be able to diversify into a far more unique subclass of which there are 3 for each primary class. For example the 3 subclasses of the Fighter are The Basher The Smasher and The Slammer.

The subclasses let you feel unique in the world and are very exciting. Here is a breakdown of the Fighter subclasses.

The Basher can use over 2 different types of weapon, slashing and blunt and has over 4 different melee attacks which are each gained at intervals of 20 levels.

The Smasher can use over 2 different types of weapon, piercing and slashing and has over 2 melee attacks and 2 self buffs which are each gained at intervals of 20 levels.

The Slammer can use over 2 different types of weapon, blunt and piericing and has over 3 melee attacks and over 2 debuffs which are each gained at intervals of 20 levels.

Being next gen we think outside the box. There are no healer classes in Fires of Heaven, instead every class has access to healing potions in stacks of 100. This ground breaking move allows all players to be self suffcient by having their own healing instead of relying on other players. It also creates a unique and complex economy where players must decide wether they want that new sword or more potions to survive against monsters 10 levels below them.

The game world is split into 3 continents for each race. Travel between the continents is by air ship at the main city docks. The ships run every 45 minutes and take 15 minutes travel time. Travel within continents can be expedited by buying horses for a limited time. A horse for an hour costs 500,000 gold and your horse will be lost if you enter combat at any point.

We are also breaking new ground in User Interface. Many current mmo's have bulky and readable chat windows, we have moved on from this by making our chat window extremely small and unreadable saving the player from any distraction from grinding. We have also disabled all options to customise the UI because todays player desires an intense focused experience. They do not wish to be constantly distracted by chat windows, health bars, or skill bars.

Some games like to focus on quests, not us. We feel they are a distraction from the grind and have found most players prefer simple kill quota quests that they can repeat for a fixed number of levels. As such all quests must be bought for gold from the quest vendor who is only accessible during the night cycles.

Character control is by point and click. In an effort to maximise comfort we have also mapped the W, A and S keys to be semi proficient at character movement. The D key will be integral to the completion of our first expansion. This provides our players with masterful control of their avatars so that instant and precise movement can be achieved. The game camera also helps by being fixed behind the players feet and swiveling in a 360 arc during combat. Freelook is available by holding the ctrl, shift, rmb, lmb and space key.

We have created a deep itemisation and loot system. For convenience, all primary's wear the same armor regardless of subclass.

Armor and Weapons are divided by level bands on when they can be used and bought from Vendors for fokarite which is a rare mineral extracted from mining.

There are two types of monsters in terms of loot. Deuce Monsters are the regular kind that give experience but do not drop any items or gold. Ace Monsters give no experience but drop small amounts of gold and have a chance to drop weapons and armor 10 levels below their own.

Crafting is an important part of AGM15:FOW. Players can craft anything from a sword to an axe to even a hammer. Crafting is done by gathering the raw materials through mining, gathering, purifying and catalysing. Once all the pre requisites are in place a player can attempt to craft a new item using our random number generator. This determines wether you suceed or fail, the quality of the item and wether you are killed in the process.

Player Vs Player. We believe strongly in competetive play so allow players to attack anyone at any time. However if you attack a player in town you will be black listed by the guards and lose lvl*17+50 experience, all gold and all items if killed by them. In the outside world you may kill who you please but for every player killed you will be banned from cities and npcs for 24 hours as an outlaw.

Group pvp takes the form of Bunkers, a guild can capture a bunker and use it as a base of operations. To take a bunker from an enemy guild the attacking guild must outnumber the defending guild 5:1 for 72 hours at which point ownership its transferred.

So, do you have what it takes. Will you join the fight and explore a world in turmoil. Over 70 levels of diverse monsters to fight like Zargas, Bovzaks Gringyys, Jakels, Nuntiks, Kuatloos and Rhubarbs on your quest to maximum level. The revolution is here.

Only 39.99 and 9.99 per month (soon to be free2buy and free2play).

What a wonderful satirical essay. Somewhere, I hope the Asian devs are reading this. This was my favorite part:

Note: To be fair a lot of unique Asian MMO's have made it here such as Bots and Navy Field. They are rare, but they exist.

    Breaking News

Due to its massive success and huge playerbase AGM15:FOW is now free2play!. Yes thats right you will no longer have to pay a monthly fee to continue playing. If you already have a subscription you will no longer be billed at the end of the month.

Note: Servers 1,2,3 will be merged into 1 server aswell as servers 4,5 and 6. GM support is now done through email only which can be contacted at deadhorse@yahoo.com. The first content patch - Heaven's Triumph, has now been delayed until q4 2008.

I'm a bit mixed about healing potions. It takes away the "LFM PRIEST!", but at the same time, in many games, it gets overused and makes PVE boring, and removed the already little challenge it has. PVE in RFO was really boring to me. However in Ragnarok Online, it was done PERFECTLY, and at the same time, it managed to keep the healer class without gimping it or making it useless.

OMG Airships and flying dragon Mounts.  Even with the grind its still the best game ever if it has airships.

You got a problem with a guy running around with 2k potions smashing them on his head ever 0.5 seconds to heal?

Pot spamming until you or your opponent run out first is the greatest pvp evar.

    beautifully written

    but u missed:-

"Challenging gameplay and character development, up to 8 days grinding 1 spot to make your next level. Then feel free to then add your point to dex, strength, constitution or intelligence, thus allowing for unique character development. If that wasn't challanging enough, each subsequent level has been carefully balanced to add an additional 33.3% grind to the previous level. We feel that this best encompases what todays discerning gamer wants, and so we will not disappoint."
