to Los Angeles?
As a citizen of this not-so-fair city, I must say. Why the hell would anybody want to move here, let alone an internationally known football (soccer) star. The Los Angeles Galaxy team must have paid a shitload to get him to move here.
Seriously, if anybody is planning on moving here, don't. It is really expensive, really dirty, and everyday when you look to the horizon you can see a thick brown layer of filth that we breathe everyday. Its disgusting.
Don't get me wrong though, I am glad he is moving to a U.S. team as I believe it will popularize the sport more, and he (provided he is still playing then) will get put on the U.S. world soccer team which would do wonders, as we failed so horribly the last time around.

2. He got kicked off the England team cus hes crap now.
.If X number of people in America watch Soccer right now, and 1 is taken as 1, and 2 is taken as 2, without multipliers being added for simplicity, then I would say that Beckham's moving to LA would give American Soccer roughly 50 more people watching in daily. So you are left with an equation X+Bekham = X+50
We just don't give a crap about Soccer...it's boring, and we already have three sports, three is enough for us to follow...hell, ESPN puts on more professional POKER than they do Soccer, and Poker isn't even a sport.
It doesn't matter who moves where, Americans just don't care about soccer like the rest of the world does...this push to popularize the sport here is pointless. Even if it reaches the popularity of Hockey(a distant fourth place to football, baseball, and basketball) it will still be marginalized and made fun of by a vast majority of Americans.
edit: dammit why do I always unintentionally put an appostraphe in "American's" ???
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
I love soccer. Its the only sport I watch.
Also in the Chivas vs. Real Madrid game ere in Los Angeles a few months back the game was sold out with over 100,000 people in attendance.
Also the World Cup had millions of viewers watching it. The final having over 10 million I believe. While you may not like it, a lot of people do.
P.S. To me American Football, Basketball, and Baseball are horribly boring and the only time I watch it is if I feel like taking a nice nap.

Get yourself ESPN some time. They show live dominoes matches...that's right, dominoes. Makes golf look animated and lively.
From my visits to America over the last few years, it's certainly struck me that the sport is become more and more popular. In some places I saw more soccer pitches than any other sports fields. I'm not sure quite how much of a difference Beckham might make - he's not really a flair player and once you've seen a few brilliant free kicks, they lose the excitement factor. League soccer in the US could certainly do with international stars joining though. If the quality goes up, so will the audiences.
I got the impression Beckham was dropped from England because the new manager has issues with him (and we have some good upcoming youngsters coming through in his position). I don't doubt that he'll shine for LA, although going from playing alongside the best in the world at Real to the players from the LA team will probably be pretty frustrating.
I don't think he'll be eligible to play for the US national team.
I find the game 'American' Football laughable really.
All it is is is a cross between a softcore version of Rugby and wrestling. Also its called FOOTball yet they dont kick the ball?
Wrestling is faked
Baseball is a cure for insomnia
And what littel ive seen of ice hockey make me think its just a excuse to get into a fight.
It's arguable that with association football, all of the fights and the biff takes place in the crowd, total opposite to most codes of football.
When there is biff on the ground in association football- it's usally between members of the same team.
I love soccer. Its the only sport I watch.

I speak for the vast majority of Americans when I say that we don't care about soccer, the truth hurts doesn't it? I'm not sure why soccer fans feel the need to make everybody love their sport...I don't go around trying to get soccer wusses to play American football, so lay off.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
You don't know anything about football, the ball is kicked on nearly every posession...and the hits are much faster than the ones in rugby, hence the pads...you ever see a player in a football game lose his helmet? He almost always ends up bloodied up...softcore indeed.
I don't attack Rugby, so keep your mouth shut about football, since you clearly don't know anything about it.

Well if he's looking for a place that he can blend in and not have people talk about his play to him he picked the right country to move to. Bet his wife is more recognized on the street then him.
And we have soccer fields all over here too. We play anything else on them.

No you don't speak for the vast majority of Americans. You speak SOLELY for yourself, and don't you ever forget that.
You took a lot of offense with my statement when I meant nothing offensive by it. I was simply pointing out a few points on the matter. I personally don't know why, or care why, you don't like soccer. Its none of my business, and I certainly don't give a damn whether you like this sport. The topic of this thread was not "Hey Draenor, come love Soccer with us". It held no indication to you whatsoever and nothing at all forced you into this thread. Also, your simple math equation was no where near accurate of what the actual numbers would actually hold, so "lay off".
You obviously have a problem with this sport and for some reason feel the need to bitch about it in a discussion purely meant to discuss a movement of a player from one team to another. I'll tell you what, next time somebody starts a thread dedicated to an American Football player changing teams, I'll be sure to stick my head in it and complain about how boring I think, and how millions of other Americans (yes, millions) think it is. It obviously is quite legitimate to do that.

Why are you so objectionable to the fact that Soccer's popularity in the United States is utterly laughable? I don't speak soley for myself when I say that most American's don't care about soccer, because it's absolutely 100% true, so live with it.
And as to my "obvious" problem with the sport...maybe it's because elitist soccer loving assholes are always getting on a high horse about their wonderfull sport? Maybe it's because elitist soccer loving assholes think that it's okay to come in and call American Football "Rugby for sissies" when they have never played it in their lives. Maybe it's because I don't have a problem with the sport, but rather the retarded fanboys who want everyone to agree that soccer is the best thing since Jesus....Maybe it's because people like you are just so hard headed and stubborn that you just won't admit that most American's do not give a rats ass about soccer, and never will.

Yes, and we all know that all american football lovers are all friendly and will never show any sign of elitism. , Are you going to hate American football as well now? Might as well hate every sport in existance, because hey, there are a few people who think its the best thing since sliced bread. As some wit once noted:
Association football (soccer) - a sport invented by gentlemen, watched and played by thugs.
Rugby Union - a sport invented by thugs, watched and played by gentlemen.
By the way Americans, Ukrainian striker Andrei Shevchenko claims that football fans should call American football soccer.
Offended by that? Sure you are...Andrei who?

Wow the next time I want to argue with somebody who makes up all his "facts" I'll come looking for you.You didnt even bother to read my statement did you? I am going to S-P-E-L-L this out for you, ok? I'll make it nice and simple...
- I don't care if you like this sport or not, I'm not trying to get you interested. Does the title of this thread make you think otherwise for some reason? Are you that stupid?
- I never made any comparison of soccer to any other sport.
- This thread in no way was meant to promote this sport to those who do not like it, its a discussion based on the move of one player to a different team.
- If you don't like this sport then get the hell out of this thread.
- YOU are the elitist prick who decided to come into a thread which has nothing to do with you or whatever sports you like, and put it down, not me.
- So please, if you have NOTHING else to add to this thread, kindly get the f*ck out.
P.S. Btw the only people who have any legitimate authority to speak for the "vast majority" of americans are politicians.

Football has its moments. Guys swan-diving in front of goal is a sight to behold. Nureyev couldn't have done it better and the Academy awards need to invent a new category for them.
Formula One boring? Yeah...doesn't hold a candle to golf though. Now, that's a boring sport. At least to watch anyway.
