Hi everyone.
Been playing DDO since the first week or so of release. Its been a ton of fun however its time to move on.
There are many aspects of DDO that I really like and hope to find another MMO with some similar tastes. I am thinking the new LOTR: online may be what I am looking for. However I think Im getting tired of elves and orks etc... maybe.
Being an ex. WoW player I headed to DDO quickly. I really liked the many dungeons (instances), much smaller raids (12ppl), guilds that invite you without the resuma style invite, deeper character creation and no big worlds to explore and a more compacted leveling system. Overall a quicker game to get into (far less time sinks). Also the player base was more mature.
I tried Eve: Online for a month however it was way too slow. Nice graphics and player base though. (I wont go into detail on this game)
Wish List for a New MMO -
An MMO that has a good character creation system.
I can be very skeptical with large world MMO's. However I will give them a go.
Not pvp based.
Anyway, any opinions on what I could start on next or look forward to in the future would be most appreciated.

Based on your playstyle you described, I would second City of Heroes/City of Villians...character creation is deep as far as the physical aspect goes...and no Orcs or Elves in sight...
As a second choice, I would say LOTR would suit you but then again there are the Elves and Orcs...but beside that small fact, it appears like it may be well suited to you based on the info I've read on the web...
As a last suggestion, I would say Guild Wars...the physical character customization isn't that vast but the world is instanced like in DDO...
Good luck,
