So I quit WoW (cancelled my 3 accounts, no you can't have my stuff) because I liked what I saw in Vanguard beta 4. Then got frustrated with the performance and weird combat animations. I spent $350 for more memory and a better video card and Vanguard still lags.
So...anyway I downloaded the Play the Fae demo of EQ2. I had played EQ2 during beta, but found WoW more to my liking at the time. Anyway, EQ2 is fantasic. Runs rings around Vanguard as near as I can tell. At least as fun and polished as WoW. Very friendly community (mature too). Tons of quests and the best part, you can turn off combat experience to level slower and finish all the quests (kill xp goes towards AA, which grants additional abilities).
If you are looking for a new game, give it a try!

Yeah, I'm a WoW refugee as well since it's launch - except I quit back in April and created a few characters on the Permafrost server of EQII. I've never looked back since. Real life has turned me more into a casual player, so I don't raid often. But, even tho my progress is a bit slow, I still find myself having plenty of fun questing, crafting, or simply running around like a goof. I never played EQI, yet I really dig this game and plan to be around a long while.
Yea thats my prediction for ALOT of people who try vanguard out and see that it sucks, then come to eq2 which in my opinion the best mmo out.
I understand every SWG vet's pain over the dreaded SWG nerf. I've heard countless stories from refugee's. But the thing I always try to point out to these people is the team behind EQ2 is not the team behind SWG. They were created in seperate departments. You may find certain individuals who've worked on both games (I don't know tbh), but to hate the whole of SOE purely because they screwed up one game is a very blinkered outlook IMO.
This is only my opinion btw, I'm not wishing to start a flame war here.
I tried SWG a couple of times. I didn't like it, full stop (even though I'm a huge fan of the original SW trilogy). But I would never write off an entire company's range of products simply because I don't like one product.
It's like saying you don't like one tv channel because they have 1 particular show you loathe! Or one music company because you don't like a particular artist!
just my thought's on the old chestnut anyway!
Currently returned to Norrath after disliking Hyboria.
WOW has helped all MMO's IMO. People cut their teeth on it, then seek a game with a little more depth.
