Random crashing of POL

in Final Fantasy XI

I just resubbed and POL is randomly dying on me. Full crash, windows error reporting and all.

I looked over a few forums which suggested my RAM maybe bad. Tested it with memtest and it is all fine. Next turned off all system tray notices in case it was a meail notification or such, but I got an email notification while playing and that tells me full screen mode was lost (so that isn't it either).

I have the latest drivers for my 6600oc, directx upgrade from Vanguard and I am told neither should be the issue. Listing them just incase they are. The only non-standard thing I have is non-microsoft drivers for my 360 controller (so I can use the analog triggers), but I rebooted without the controller ever being plugged into my system and it still crashed.

Any ideas?

 

Edit: turned off spyware and active virus checking as an experiment and it still crashed. The time of play until the crash has been everything from about a minute to almost 2 hours (that one tricked me, I thought I had fixed the issue).

    Just read the news and I am on Gilgamesh so maybe it isn't on my end.

    Yeah I know read the news, but I just installed it last night and updated. Wanted to login and play. That and reading things on POL is neither convenient nor speedy. I hate POL.

    POL is outdated and slow.
