WHAT THE F*%# DID DDO DO TO MY COMPUTER!?

DeiothDeioth Member UncommonPosts: 64
Wow.  After uninstalling the game the other day, I turn the computer off at night as I always do and go to bed.  I wake up, turn it on, and it's suddenly at 320x240 with 16 colors and no sound and going about as fast as a snail.  I have to reboot to last known good configuration.  It just happened again.  Not even this KIND of problem occured to me in all my years using computers until tht faithful day i decide to try DDO.  What the FUCK just happened?  Assuming Turbine doesn't help or just gives me some generic and pointless answer when I email them about this, maybe some of you people might be able to give me an idea on what to do?  I don't have a restore point to a day prior to DDO's installation, unfortunately, and I don't have a Windows restore disk (brother took it when he moved, if he ever had one).

Thats not DDO, if it happens repeatedly thats means something is wrong with your windows-installation or some hardware (xp goes back to "safe values" is something fries or if vital files are deleted.
Also it should be 800x640, if its less then could mean your graphics card/monitor has had some sort of critical failure (hence using 320x200). Check your video-drivers (these could have gone corrupt), not having the windows disk is bad (restore disks do not count as a xp-disk).

Your best bet is to check a specific windows forum for help (because there is nothing a un-installation can do to make this sort of problems).

I've uninstalled DDO three times on one of my PCs and once on another.....I've never had any problems at all. What are your specs? Have you tried reinstalling Windows? Last time something similar happened to me it turned out to be w Windows and hardware issue.

Sorry from your problem.  I doubt it was uninstalling DDO that did this to you though.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled it a number of times on a number of different machines with no problems.   Have you tried to download the latest video drivers for your graphics card?

Well, reinstalling my video card drivers... again... seems to have fixed everything.  I really don't know who to blame more, Turbine or ATi.

    Or yourself?

Uninstalling games wont cause those kind of errors.. Only if you take things into your own hands and start deleting every single file yourself and delete non-game files :P

Trust me with over 15 years in support I can tell you that with this type of error you might as well not even try to figure out who to blame.   Drivers and such get corrupt all the time.   The only real word of advice might be to run a virus scan just to be safe.

After installing the game for the very first time after purchase I had a complete system failer and had to reinstall windows. There was a bug in the game that over wrote some important windows files. It has since been fixed. You must have bought the extra special edition.
