- The reason why people quit GW -

XivieXivie Member Posts: 1
Hi!

My English isn't the best but I'll try ^^

I've been playing GW since beta and I've been playing WoW as well and I will tell you why people quit GW.

About 85% of those who quit haven't reached level 20 and the comment they leave is "The game got boring after lvl 5 so I quit"

I say, level 20 is just the beginning my friends. Guild Wars is not a MMORPG, it's a CO-RPG. There no MMO where you have more teamwork than Guild Wars.

You who quit are missing all the fun parts such as random arena, team arena, Guild vs Guild, Alliance Battle and Heroes Ascent.

Sometimes I wonder, did the Guild Wars devoloper team forget to write that this game is mainly focused on PvP on their game packages ? Yes, I think so.  In Guild Wars, it's about your skill that matters and not your gear. The gear that matters are in games such as WoW and Diablo II. Diablo II for example, no matter how much skill you have you can't survive without a good gear.

Guild Wars is mainly focused for PvPers ( For those who like a real challenge )

WoW is for grinders who replaces their life getting level 60 and perfect gear and guess what ? Yet they still suck.

If you want to PVE in Guild Wars, there are raids/instances as they call it in WoW.

They are:

* Fissure of Woe Prophecies

* Underworld Phophecies

* The Deep Factions

* Urgosz Warren Factions

2 other Ones in Nightfall ( Haven't bought it yet )

As previous players said before:

Guild Wars is like Chess.

WoW is like Tic Tac Toe.

Guild Wars = PvP

WoW = PVE

If you're a tough boy/girl who likes challenges, give Guild Wars one more chance.

    85% of people who quit GW didn't reach level 20?

    I know people like to make blatantly exaggerated, incorrect statements to try and give some sort of artificial support to a claim they make, but they don't really work well in terms of actually adding anything to the conversation.

    But what conversation?  Apparently this is just a thread to bash people who don't like the game that you particularly like to play.  Bravo.

    Most ppl who leave GW are those who don;t like instancing imo. =]

    I think GW is to restricting, you have to follow premade paths and all that, doesn't make it to hard to find something :p

    To folks who don't like Instancing, I'm not sure why they would even begin playing GW.  However, I agree that bashing WoW to pump up GW is the wrong way to go, as much as I love GW, and am not to fond of WoW, these games are so different that you can't even really compare them, at least not with any kind of decent comparison.

    Both games are performing extremely well, and both should be given a chance.  They both have great aspects (free not being the only one for GW lol) and both have some things that need improvement.

    Hi, I have 3 level 20's and a I quit guild wars.after a month.

    I bought factions back in may, and quit at level 4, as you said, but anyway I came back, got addicted, bought nightfall, and got bored of the game. The reason is simple, I want game where I can pvp alot, and earn something, if its not the respect of others, maybe sometimes that actually changes the game for me.

    Pvp is so repetitive in guild wars its not funny, infact in alliance battle i dont even use my mouse, if I remember clearly, I press tab, 2,3,4,5 and basically do alot of damage or kill someone, however pressing those buttons gets very boring. And whats to earn from pvp? Maybe you can control the armory or so, get some armor, but its not gonna make a difference cause I already have max armor.

    I mean fissure of woe armor is another huge joke, waiting for the things to drop for them, taking months or so, and it doesnt even give you a benifit. At level 4 on my nightfall character someone offered to take characters to a place to buy max armor, he did it, and at level 4 i had max armor in nightfall, at level 7 or so I believe I had the best sheild / spear in the game.

    Out of the tons of skills there are, only a select few are used anyway, so many people have the same builds.

    Finally there is no freedom in that game, In example one cant go out chilling on a mountain top without bringing a group behind them, I mean you say its not PVE? well everytime I take 100 steps im in a seperate world from everyone else, with a group of most likely henchman(which happen to be better than players most of the time).

    Guild Vs Guild was ok, still nothing to gain though

    All in all id say guild wars is a very good game, just not one to play for long periods.

    P.S. 1 elite skill at a time? lool royally screwed me over.

    My friend has all lvl 20's in all 3 except 2 characters are at 19 and 18 he still plays . I'm not shure why though
  • RaizeRaize Member Posts: 35
    I had two level 20 characters in the first one and a level 10 in Factions when I quit, I quit due to the forced grouping. There was a severe limit as to what could be done soloing, sure it could be done, if you had the right set-up, but there were far to few options for the game to be enjoyable outside of mass pvp.

    I quit but have come back though i've quit again and we'll see if i go back when something new is announced. To me there isn't enough content (of interest to me) to keep me playing long. Part of the reason is i'll play *a lot* and wear it out rather quickly it seems. Still when I am playing and when it's new I have a blast and feel it was worth my money.

    So, you saying when you PvP you are going up against the same characters and you don't have to move, change anything you're doing and you kick ass each time?  I call bs....  GW as describe by the creator of the thread is what he has stated.  From what I read from alot of you guys is that you want too much.  I personally haven't played NF or Factions X-pacs because I got off into other games and betas that take up some of my time.  But, I'll never say I quit GW, I go back to PvP and GvG each chance I get, because from all the games I've played GW offers the Best PvP and GvG hands down!  That's my opinion and you don't have to agree as I don't expect you too and don't really care...

    But to say that the game is repeative PvP and GvG wise is idiotic, how can you say for sure what another group plans or builds are when you meet up with them at the GH or Areanas?  People reading don't take these posts to heart read them and go on, play the game yourself and enjoy.  As I said Best PvP, GvG to date.

    Best pvp to date... DAOC.... Guild wars was ....  meh....  only so much you can do with 8 skills on your bar....

    I found the lack of community and the huge ammount of instances a bit distastfull.

    Why am I quitting GW? - Well technically I'm not, I'm just taking time off to explore Burning Crusade and other strategy games coming out soon like Supreme Commander.

    What I love about GW is each expansion brings a lot of fresh content and new interesting twists on an old theme. I will agree that gameplay can get repetitive but with a good group of friends adventuring can become very multifaceted, with everyone working to support each other.

    The best part for me is I can "quit" to go do other stuff but return anytime I like for some PVP or a quick adventure with friends.

    Not 8, but 64...people forget it is team game (unless you play RA which is hardly a showcase of GW pvp).

    I think maybe people are buying this game with the wrong expectations.

    While I am still relatively new to GW I don't see why people would complain. The whole nature of the campaigns seem to be that they can indeed be finished, much like in a singleplayer game. Now if this was indeed a normal MMO I'd say it completely sucks for that because originally these games were supposed to be sandbox games, not the predefined joyrides they are now. GW however is far from that. With the campaigns you pretty much get a fixed amount of missions and sidequests. The predefined paths are necessary because many of the quests would have been either impossible to make or simply too easy to complete otherwise. (I still managed to get lost on more than one occasion but that's me alright  =P)

    While many will say that GW is mostly about PvP it seems to me that it is merely a part of the game pretty much like the multiplayer modes of story-driven singleplayer games only that the story campaign of GW can be played with others as well.

    Personally I also have no problem with many people using henchmen. Infact I use them myself mostly for small quests that wouldn't be worth getting a group for. For missions finding a group so far has always been a matter of minutes to me and even for larger quests I often managed to find a few people planning to do the same. This has been no problem to me even though I am playing the Mesmer class which people seem to regard as useless in PvE (it isn't >,<)

    Anyway, as I see it GW is not a sandbox that you are meant to play for as long as possible. You buy the game, have fun with it and if you want more you buy the next chapter. Then again since there are almost no recent sandbox online games out there anymore I'll rather pick Guild Wars since it doesn't pretend being a sandbox but instead provides a linear but non-repetitive experience.

    because of that it is completely ok if people leave the game since like I said it can be finished.

    It´s sad to see people leave a game without even tried the really good parts of the game, and LVL 5 is one broing part of the game,, but when your reach the lvl 20 and have some good skills, then your in for a great PvP game.

    Although Guildwars is a boring game when there are no players online! thats the bad part of the game.

    And I Agree, GW is not a pure MMORPG, and it will never be, though you´ll never play another game that you Co-op with other players like GW.

    Have nothing worth to say as usual ?

    Just keep your mouth shut in advance next time.

    As usual?  I guess hidden insults on players of other games is what you would consider worthwhile?

    Hmm who died and made you forum police, how about you leave your mouth closed and leave the moderation to the mods?  Sorry if your statement was incorrect, and blatantly overexaggerated but you said it not me.  That's plenty to say, as is obvious from the multiple people who posted and said they have multiple level 20s and still quit.

    Don't make threads if you can't take people telling you when you are incorrect.  Also grow up a bit and don't presume to tell people what they can or cannot respond to in a public forum.

    People quit games for their own reasons. To put it simply...Guild Wars is made for people with lives. It's not meant to be played 24/7. That's why they ask you to take a break if you play more than 2 hours. Though I don't agree with bashing World of Warcraft, I think it's  commonly accepted that the point of the game is to get to level 60.

    If you think about it...there's no point to any game. It has no benefit to you except entertainment. If you find that entertainment in Guild Wars, congrats...if you find it in some other game congrats too I like Guild Wars and many other people do too, which is all that really matters
  • texwashtexwash Member UncommonPosts: 35

    Most games have that warning, "You have been playing for an extended amount of time.  Please consider a break."

    Lineage 2 has that popup every hour.

  • RPGnubRPGnub Member Posts: 96
    Oh God I remember that from MGS2

    I had played for a a few hours straight since the storyline was so intriguing.

    Then Colonel called in and nagged me about how I was ruining my eyes

    and asking me whether I didn't have anything better to do.

    Freakiest videogame moment ever for me.
  • Acees88Acees88 Member Posts: 132
    I think GW has a popup too,,(Every houre)  or it gives you notice about how long you have played.

    Guild Wars is not pvp.  Any game that lets me double click my opponent which lets me run right to him = lame pvp.
