Everyone loves this game, especially people who complaint o the point where they say the game is unplayable then stay in the forums. They are closet Vanguardians. This is like another man said, an either you love it or you hate it kinda game. I think the old schoolers like D&D old school are into this kinda game - usually the types that prefer a good story, great character choices, and look at more of the heart of the game, rather than the bowels. . .everyone else, really can't cut it. I do not understand the main argument against vanguard, but it appears to be a mix of the game not being "polished" when ti is compared to games that have already been out for a few years and i don't know what the other issue is. The thing that screwed Sigil over the worst was the time they spent working on a game engine and combat system for a couple of years that they ended up scrapping and changing into something else, thereby making them look like they have had their fingers up their asses instead of on mice and keyboards.
I have re-evaluated my bad opinion of the game. I think it is mainly down to confusion - I was expecting somewthing _very_ impressive, and on my first few connections failed to find it. Reading the forums, thouh, I have a feeling it is becuase the "edge" of this game will be in its deeper workings. I will most certanly give it a fair try - my expectations do merit that. I am a little worried, though, that new players will fail to spot the "uniqueness" of the game fast enough to get hooked. That could seriouslt hurt the player base...
Anyway, I might be all wrong. It's just the conclusion I've come to. This early in life of a MMO, though, I find that there are all too few moderated opinions; I want to know what I am getting into - what will make it great and what is not so great. Unfortunatly neither flamers nor trolls will allow such opinions to surface. This thread has actually managed it!
