just quit L2 is this the new pvp game?

ive done a little research on this game combat system looks cool if they can pull it off.  making the game not gear dependant might ruin it for me tho.. also would like to know if u can enchant items and such like in l2 if not then what use is money/blood money once u have top gear??. would also love to see this game have some sort of grind like l2 just not to that extreme. can anyone point out any bad things about this game?? cause im really on the fence here between this and WAR

From what i've read enchanting wont be like L2's system. You can improve your weapons and armor using looted gemstones that are cut by a gemcutter(crafter)and added to your equiptment. Blood money will be used to purchase special pvp feats and possible pvp equiptment(read something about this but it wasnt 100%clear)

Not sure of what bad things there are, we dont have all the info yet.

AoC should come out a few months before WAR so you can try it out.  I'm not completely sold on WAR's set faction system, and quite frankly, the orcs and elves thing is starting to make me ill.  I really like AoC's guild focus, with more personal PvP objectives (ie. fight to defend your city, not your faction's city).

    Bad things:

    - High system requirements, and the potential for lag that goes with it

    Potentially bad things:

    - Character animations could use some work as of the latest ingame videos, this however is something that can easily be fixed by launch.

    - A few poorly worded developer statements have led people to believe that gear from PvE raids will be significantly better than gear from everywhere else, one of the primary gripes people have about WOW. Logical arguments and more developer quotes have managed to prove that if there is such an advantage, it is minimal to say the least, and certainly isn't in the category of  "raid or die". Unfortunately, thanks to the aforementioned quotes, proving that there isn't any advantage at all has proved... difficult. time will tell who is right.

    - This is only Funcom's second MMO, they released Anarchy Online over six years ago. At the time, it was quite revolutionary, incorporating multiple new features that MMORPGs today are considered to be incomplete without. It also has quite a reputation as having endured the worst launch in MMORPG history. Now, everything since has pointed to FC having learned from the mistakes they made with AO, including taking their time to test AoC instead of rushing it to release. I personally am 99% positive that a repeat of their last MMO launch will simply not happen, but that 1%...

Go with WAR. in WAR you can pvp from Day 1 to level cap. You wont ever have to PvE for ANYTHING.

Conan will also be a remarkable game but unfortunately their Blood money system will only give you items that are exclusive to pvp according to their blood money preview article. Additionally, they are not promising Blood Money will give you the best loot. It remains to be seen what path Conan will take. PvP is regulated to certain zones (Border kingdoms).

right now WAR has more appeal based on the current info I've been able to dig up. They are not releasing much info at all on this game I'm just not totally sold on conan yet.

I would go with AoC, for several reasons.. the graffics in AoC are more "realistic" (not cartoonish as WAR), when you defend your seige keep in a pvp zone, its your guilds siege fort, not the whole factions siege fort  (making it more personal), and the whole siege weaponry part also sounds very cool.. i think its only good that the pve and pvp parts are as seperated as they are, suiting everyone. and with the whole bloodmoney thing, enabling you to buy special pvp powers and pvp weapons that you cannot buy in a pve zone. so if one person stay i pvp al the time, will have an atvantage over a person who grind pve and buy his weapons at a merchant in a pvp battle.

I also think AoC is aimed after a more adult market, since it has the 18+ mark

Im really looking forward to AoC.... it has become an obsession for me...

Another good thing about AoC,, NO BLODDY ELVES!!!!

i would go with AoC because the combat system (reguardless of PVE or PVP) is unique and most likely will be much more engaging than anything currently on the market

Yeah the FFA PvP Server was just announced a few days ago in the article here on this site. They have not told us on their forums or released a full article on how it will work.

yes that is the edge Conan has over its competition. Also the graphics look extradinary. I just worry that it will be mostly a PVE game. when I make posts on Conan Border Kingdom forums to make suggestions on how to improve PvP it immediately gets shot down by a bunch of carebears. many of the carebears only want PvP'ers to only get buffs from blood money. They do not want pvpers to get good loot. I made a post at conan border kingdoms so many carebears posted I got frustrated and decided to stop checking the forum. The name of the thread is called 'Blood Money' was hoping a Dev would step in and provide firm info.

I am sincerely concerned about the path the Devs are taking but I dont know everything. I dont know much. We will all have to wait and see is the bottom line really

what iv understood from reading the officiel site, you would be able to buy speciel pvp weapons and armor with the bloodmoney, and have access to better than the usualy pve mining zones.. So you would be able to get pvp weapons and armor that you can only use for pvp that is better at pvp than pve weapons/armor... and also some talk about 12 pvp levels.. so if 1 person spends all his time in pvp zones, duels a person that spend all his time grinding mobs in pve zones, the pvp guy would have a deffently advantage...

There is current no Dev statement where they promise Blood Money awards the best loot for pvp. That's why I posted on conan Border Kingdoms forums for clarification. right now, as it stands, a pve'er can get something good and use it in both pvp/pve. However, a pvp'er can only use blood money awarded items in pvp only. Doesn;t that sound weird to you? Not only that, they are not promising you will get the best loot from Blood money for pvp.

In addition all PVP combat earns your character separate PVP exp that goes towards earning your twenty PVP levels and gaining access to special feats and abilities that are exclusive to PVP.

Blood Coins will be used to purchase the PVP feats you earn access to from special vendors in the Border Kingdoms.

These special PVP abilities will only be purchasable with Blood Coin. You will have to fight to earn the Blood Coin to pay for these new skills that your combat with other players has earned you access to.

This means that only those who truly excel at dispatching other players to their bloody deaths will be able to gain an extra edge on players who gain their equipment only in the safer havens, away from the Border Kingdoms. Only by proving your worth against your fellow player will you be able to gain these PVP-centric feats.
it sounds like they has constructed it like that if players wanna excell in pvp they have to be in pvp zone most of the time, so a player that spends most of his time in a pvp zone would has a deffently advantage agianst a pve player in a duel..... that covers it for me

Thank you for your post and taking the time to quote that specific line. Yes, that does solve my main concern although I'd still like to be able to take my pvp earned abilities into PvE content and own. Still, that does anwser my big question I believe

B/c of that 90% of potential  players can forget about playing pvp with eg 100 vs 100.. So i expect much smaller pvp then in L2.. think how good  pc  you will need to show all those ppl with unique  faces/bodies etc...

That quote that I highlighted right there.  That is what I'm tired of in MMO's.  Every game goes towards the EPIC gear style....why do we have to have ANOTHER game like that?  I'm glad AoC won't be going that route, I'm tired of epic gears and I miss games based soloely off skills.  This EQ shit needs to end, it's starting to ruin MMo's in my oppinion.

Dude, I just quit L2 also. Made it to "A grade" and was an active sieger so Im no hater... and I have one question...

Why on Gods green earth would want any sort of grind or anything that even remotely resembled the gear situation in L2? Thats the old way son.

Empty/hollow Grind = bad game now days. Pointless Barriers to play = bad game design

L2 is a great game in many ways but its also full of really bad design choices. When L2 was originally made back 5 years ago when Grind was good and punishing playstyles was hot, the choices they made was a hot idea. No one wants to play like that anymore.

The main problem I see with this game (AoC) is like a few people have said, performance. This game appears to be targeting higher end PC users so that gonna mean upgrades for the average user which is going to exclude a huge portion of gamers as not everyone runs out and upgrades and drops a few hundred bucks  just because a new game releases. We saw that with EQII which technologically barred alot of players at its release which was at the same time as WoW, you can see who won that battle.

The other thing is more of a "concern" : will AoC be able to get AWAY from the pointless, half-witted, stand in the corner and grind formula?
