The impact of mmorpgs ones social life

To all those that have played mmorpgs for years i must ask one question. What effect has prolonged play  and possible addiction done to your life and social standing?

Everyone must be careful of the perils of falling into mmorpg addiction. Know your limits or end up like the guy in pic lol.image

How about, the impact of one's social life on MMORPGs?

Seriously, I've always had strong "hikikomori" tendencies. I really only leave my apartment occassionally to go to the dojang, and even that's a pretty recent thing. I used to never leave my apartment at all.

If I had a pretty girlfriend, I'd happily say to hell with levelling up ever again, but you know, not many women are knocking down my door, trying to meet the scruffy guy in pajamas who keeps his shades drawn all the time, and never leaves his apartment. So, MMORPGs it is.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

haha, well you know i find this thread funny...but in a way it should be a serious thread as well...i was a hikikomori at one point as well as most people, but there comes a time when you jsut have to limit yourself and literally get a life...just put it this way, remember when sega master system and nintendo came out? when i was a little kid i used to play it nonstop (until my mom beat the living sh*t out of them) and realized i gotta get on with my life and enjoy RL outdoors...either turn it off or your mom/wife will trash the crap out of em hahah...so u gotta choose. pull the plug and play casually or not play at all hahah thats only from my standpoint...

all thru highschool i would just play MMORPGs. and b4 MMORPs, there was my PS1 and single players comp games. i would never do homework. I would barely talk to anyone in class and never bother to get my drivers licence like all the other kids. in my freshmen year i had 2 g/f.... those didnt last long. they kept me away from my games.....always wanting to talk on AIM...... now im done w/ highschool and my parents dont realy have the money to put me thru college or to get me a new computer. so im forced to get a job and become a casual gamer.... id like to think im healing from my game addiction.. but it will always be there... and on a social lvl and skill... games have affected that harshly....
