FFXI Question

I understand that playing Final Fantasy 11 costs $12.95 for services and one character, and a dollar extra for each additional character.  I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I didn't like my original character, could I delete him/her and create a new character without any extra added to the monthly subscription??  There are a number of mistakes that a newbie can make while starting out, such as joining the wrong server when your friend is on another and when $1 extra is pushing it too far.  Please respond quickly.

 I don't think you can. But you also will probably not end up wanting to switch characters anyways. If theres a job you don't like in FFXI, that doesn't matter. You can litterally have EVERY job in the game on just one character.
