another one of these hardware questions

So, I have FX5600 and only 512 RAM. I'm just wondering if Vanguard will work on it, no matter how low I have to put the settings? Another thing is that which one should I buy first, gfx-card or more memory? I don't have money to buy both of them...

I currently am running an amd 2800+ geforce FX 5700LE and 512mb crucial ballistix..      ive done ini tweaks and everything yet i pull about an average of 6fps and ive seen 28fps ..    i believe the memory is actually limiting my system of playing vanguard nicely but i am replacing my entire system to these specs

    amd 64x2 5200+

    Geforce 7600GT PCI-E

    G-Skill 2gig memory

that system i know will run vanguard decently    but my current system is very bad  and yes ive defragged...  and ive played till i hit lvl 7 on the pvp server .

To the OP.  Check out http://forums.vanguardsoh.com/showpost.php?p=1494018&postcount=13 it explains which cards are which and if they are supported or not.  If you want to play looks like the vid card needs upgrading.  Though if your cpu is of the same era it might be worth trying to save up for a new box...considering agp vid cards aren't as cheap as their pci-e counterparts.  See if anyone you know wants to buy your parts (mobo/cpu/gpu/mem) or see if any of them sell for anything on ebay...because it's probably time to think about upgrading, and getting just those 4 comps for a decent price that runs VG well at lower resolutions is extremely cost effective if you look around.

As for the second poster, best thing to do is run something like 3dmark and compare it to other people...no idea what numbers correspond to the ability to run VG well or sub par etc.  Just guessing you should be ok though.

And the third poster well you need to find what the bottleneck is in your system, especially if you've tried all the tweaks.  Is the HD chunking a lot as you hitch?  Do your fps stay the same as you increase or decrease the graphic settings in the game?  Are all your bios and drivers versions up to date?  Have any virtual memory turned on?  Lots of things you can try, not much anyone can help you with without more specifics.

Without the correct video card of 2.0 shading you won't get in.  Happened to me, so I had to order one.

I would definitely get 2GB if you can.  The game can easily use all of 2GB and even more.

TBH I I don't even see how it could run on 512MB since the client will use almost 400MB before even getting to the character creation screen.  Add XP to use around 200-250MB typical and you've nearly run out of RAM already.
