While I am no expert on this, I suggest you do a little research on QOS (Quality of Service) as this has a big impact on any VoIP application.

I had no problems running Skype while on Vanguard beta. I didn't see any drop in my FPS. And I had no tech problems or crashes.

Skype is a very demanding voive program as it has so good sound quality, when i had my old computer, i nerver used skupe while gaming, i used Ventrilo, now when i have a new computer, skype is no prob, skype can let u drop alot in fps if u dont have a ok computer,
