Need some advise on CPU

BakgrindBakgrind Member UncommonPosts: 423

I am in the process of upgrading my CPU and was wondering if I could get some tips from you all. The current CPU that I have is a PIN(939) AMD ATHLON 64 3000 w/ Hyper Transport Technology. My mother board is a (sckt939) ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI Chipset SATA RAID Dual PCI MY w/Gb LAN, USB2.0,IEEE-1394,&7.1Audio.

Now my question is what are the better AMD chipset out currently that will support this card?

Remember that overclocking your CPU is both risky if you don't know what your doing and because it runs much hotter than normal will decreas it's life.

An athlon 64 3800 is probably your best bet for a socket 939. Unless you want to go dual core but it's not very useful for games yet.

Asking if that rig can run VG is retarded and just a device to stroke your ego and show off.

No im serious, im not trying to show off or anything. Im not really up on all the tech stuff thats out right now, and they havent released the game recommended specs yet either. I got this deal from IBUYPOWER it was bunch of special offers bundled up so i clicked the recommended and the ones that would regulary be expensive and try to squeeze enough into it with out going over my budget. But im serious though, i just want to know. My previous computer was a Dell XPS 200 and i played EQ2 with it and i had to run on low settings and i hated it, how the game looks keeps me intersted to being able to run the game well is a biggie for me. BTW that computer blew up ne way so i sent that one back.

btw is it just me or did my post mess up the whole thread i had to copy and paste on to word pad in order to read what was typed
