No Official Forums, Bad Move . . .

You see, that is why not having official forums is a bad idea.

2 hours are gone, and we still have not seen any Euro server up,

and we still did not get any response from sigil about why are they
down actually and when can we expect to see them online.

so not the point though is it. It's about conveyíng information to players who put money up front. Wihout official forums it's not possible to get information out in an instant

Why dont you guys stop whining.  The game wasn't even gonna be open until TOMORROW originally.  This is why they dont have "offical" forums opened, thank God.  Too many cry babies.  Everyone wants to be spoon fed, it's rediculous.

They should'nt advertize early access to game if they cant Uphold their promises ! It makes people pre order when they may not have

I live in the uk. What are you talking about. It's a U.S game. Do you moan about every u.s films or movie that comes out there before.

Maybe you should stop thinking that the wourd can be perfect and you should be treated the same as everyone else. We are not all the same and unforunatly the world can't be fair.

There promise is to get into the game 3 days early. We're still on 4 so they havnt broken anything.

The U.S. start is great, all servers up and running and the couple I have logged into are very playable - great launch... for the states. Failing to turn on either of the E.U. servers is less than ideal, and gives most Europeans the impression they care far less about us as customers - given how attention was drawn to problems with pre-orders and keys and boxes etc for Europe, it's a worrying trend of SoE treating one section of it's customer base in a different fashion to another (yet again). That's not going to inspire patience and understanding on the part of those feeling discriminated against, particularly in light of how often it has happened before with other MMO launches from U.S. developers.



It's still a marvelous game, I'll still be playing, but it is disappointing to have it confirmed time and again that you simply matter far less as a customer. It makes you feel less rosy about the whole experience.

Why don't have have official forums? Well, have you seen WoW's official forums?

Also, perhaps it's not Sigil or SOE who is hosting the Eu servers. I heard they are actually in Europe, so somebody over there has to be in charge of turning the things on. Blame that guy.

The VG EU servers are hosted at exactly the same location in europe every other SoE game is hosted, their cluster based in amsterdam, where every other MMO of theirs has been hosted since EQ1 first put up the Bayles & later Venril Sathirs etc.

Sigil is having some issues with the European servers. They expect to have them fixed in about an hour or two.

To the poster's original point, the lack of official forums is simply the evolution of SOE spite for the MMO community.  SOE blames the SWG forum community for the failure of that game, rather than look in the mirror at the source of that failure.

The lack of Vanguard forums is further proof of that disdain, a bit passive agressive though it is.

 

With fansite forums disseminating information, the devs can prostitute themselves out to only the most loyal fansites. Any fansite that doesn't squelch player dissent can expect to see little if any Developer presence at their site.

My point being, SOE has, through various outlets including their own forums, indicted the MMO Community for the failings of SWG. That rhetoric and delusional belief has, whether directly or indirectly, had an influence on the developer/MMO community relationship.
