Hiya!
I've been bouncing from one mmo to another for several years trying to find something right for me. So far this one looks pretty good. I've been reading that there isn't a lot of soloing for higher levels, is this true? I understand that the purpose of an mmo is to play with other people, but some nights I would like to be able to grind solo. Is this doable in any way? Or am I out of luck?
Thanks a bunch!

If you like BSOD and having to reboot your computer every 10 minutes or so then you'll love this game.
You never played this game
You are not on vanguard forums.
I never crashed on DDO.
Why do you spend your time bashing games you dont know or play.

Hey numbnuts, how the hell do you know if I played?
Of course I played the game and it was a craptacular crash fest! I don't give a fat rat's ass if you never crashed. Many MANY others are experiencing crashes, especially after the last patch, just look at the Technical Forums on the official site.
To the OP.... Go ahead and give it a try there is a Trial Offer if I'm not mistaken. Get your index finger warmed up, you're gonna need it, with havin to press the reset/power button all the time.
Crashing is not a common thing with DDO and is unique to this user. A few things though make sure you have your latest graphics card drivers and direct X 9.0c installed with SP2 for xp. The game uses the .net framework 1.1 so you will need that installed aswell. All of these can be downloaded from Windows update.
You won't be able to solo high lvl quests at the higher levels of the game so if soloing is important to you, DDO could disappoint. The LFG and party creation functions are very simple and finding and getting into groups into DDO is very easy. DDO is a group game and they have added a little solo content at the low levels to get new players aclimated. The Free Trial is available and you should definitely do that before purchasing the game as you will see how you system handles the graphics and if you enjoy the game itself.

Nope, computer's top of the line less than 3 months old.
Like I said, many others with excellent systems are having issues with BSOD as well. However I'm glad it works on your system. I guess I'm just jaded. Oh well, I'll get over it. Enjoy DDO fellas.
Same here no crashes. I did several times in beta of DDO and that was a result of refresh rate problems with ATI drivers and DDO I believe. It seems fixed now that I came back to DDO so no complaints here other than a video jerk here and there, running high-res textures too.
To the original poster like the other try the trial. I've said in other posts you won't get the highest graphics quality with the trial but you'll get a feel for the game. Goodluck hope you like it!

Oh, and in beezee's defence I guess, he did sound slightly more positive toward the end of the thread.

No flaming or trolling was intended. I don't hate the game per say, I just hate crashing to desktop every 10 minutes. As I'm sure you would if you were in my shoes. Just voicing my frustration. If it came across too harsh, I apologize. I doubt what I say will sway a person's decision to try a FREE trial anyway.
I have only had issues like the OP has once but it wasn't with DDO. I can't remember which game I was playing but had similar issues and spent a while trying to fix it. My system worked pretty stable except for trying to play that game. Come to think of it I am pretty sure it was when I was trying to do the DAoC trial. I am pretty sure somehow I screwed up when I upgraded my driver by not removing or it just bugged and didn't install correctly. Anyways I remember crashing a bit and trying to reinstall the drivers. That was when I was using an ATI card which was great but somehow the drivers never got on track till I reinstalled and never had the issues again.
rawr!
