15 Hours ??????

in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes
So today I ask my hubby to run to EB games and pre-order VanGuard for me  I get the pre-order CD and pop it in and start the download and set everything up. Then I start the game up enter my username and pass, the game does a file scan and then starts to pacth no biggie I knew there would be one. It tells me 1 hour 34 mins cool I went to do some other stuff I come back to my PC and it's now up to 4 hours ok well I was a bit sleepy so I will take a nap and play when I get up. I wake up 5 hours later and the it's now up to 15 hours  WTF I have cable btw why is it going to take that long to pacth. As I am typing this it's still going up, Is anyone getting the same thing? Is there a faster way to do this jezzzs

    Well I would have felt lucky if it only took me 15hrs. I downloaded during Beta 5 and it took me over 36hrs with cable on a brand new rig I just built that week.

    You ISP connect speed wasn't the limiting factor, it was all the other players trying to download at the same time.  That's why I did all my patching the day before!

    15 hours huh? I wish I could be so lucky. For the past 14 hours my est. time remaining has stayed at 10 hours.

    And a couple of minutes ago it shot up to 566 hours. Needless to say, there's no way I'm actually going to wait 566 hours. lol

    hmm 566 hours. at a little over 20 days yea i can understand why you wouldn't want to wait that long. hopefully sometime within the next 20 days everyone else will have finished patching and you'll be able to dl it all on your own and a much greater speed

    Yeah I've been watching my estimated time slowly increase as well. Started at 1 hour 30 minutes and just kept going up. I just got myself 6 hours sleep and it now says 8 hours 30 minutes, although the gold bar is full so it has to be near completion. I hope so anyhow... lol!

    Just keep checking your game directory size...... the folder once fully unpacked and patched should be around 16.7gb

    Look at it this way, you should be finished and able to play about the time the retail edition comes out.

    I just got the Vanguard box delivered to my door, but it won't even let me patch until tuesday :(



    Man these are gonna be some very long days.

    If your in the official Sony patcher, right below the button that says "UPDATING", there is a clickable link that says "Cancel".  Now, I know this is going to scare the #$%^ out of you, but when you hit cancel it doesn't lose your place on the download.

     

    So you hit "Cancel", then it will change back to "Download".  Hit "Download" again and the process will reset and your speed will jump back to near normal.

    I had to do this about 5 times but it took about 35 minutes total for the patch.

     

    Follow my directions exactly or not at all.
