I moved from EQ2 to WoW then back to EQ2. I am an EQ2 lover but I also enjoyed WoW a lot. It came down to EQ2 offered more to do. Also the myth that EQ2 is not a soloer's game is not true. I solo a lot and both WoW and EQ2 offer a good experience for the solo player. However EQ2 offers so much more to do. I am a fan of player housing and collectibles for your house. EQ2 offers so much in that area. If WoW had housing and collectibles it would have been unlikely I would have returned to EQ2 after a year in WoW, but I am happy I did. I like the feeling of ownership in the game which WoW does not offer. It feels like you live on the streets. WoW is a great game but when it was clear Burning Crusades would not offer any type of player housing I finally deleted WoW from my hard drive.
Says who? your own oppinion? I´m not a WoW player nor am I a EQ2 player. Every game has its bright sides, and so do EQ2 as every other game in this world
After trying EQ2, I am amazed. It's 20 times better than WoW.
I lol'ed Perfect example of why WoW is a horrible game.
The kids. If you are insinuating I am an adolescent playing WoW, you would be mistaken. My World of Warcraft subscription ended last month and I am currently frequenting EVE Online. k?

eq2 is fairly expensive to start, all teh expansions and al. But it is on par with WoW, the only difference is, eq2 has eq1 rep to deal with. And sony doesnt help. The illusion is eq is ahardcore raid game, but the truth is, it is the same as WoW interms of progressiona nd endgame.
I played eq2 until levle 50, and went to WoW, and just play WoW for now, mainly because i have eq2 is a little to expensive to go back to, and im waiitn gfor AoC.

I just wanted to point something out - the new expansion for EQ2, Echoes of Faydwer, contains all of the previous expansions (DoF and KoS). Thus, it's really not more expensive unless you've been playing EQ2 all along and purchased all of the expansions as they've been released.
You're right, it is much better than WoW. In every way. It just offers so much more. I'd say its pretty much the best game out there right now.
The really sad thing is that, so far, it looks like all the new games are copying WoW. Which means that theres every chance that this will remain the best game out there.
Wait wait wait... people moving FROM WoW to EQ2?! THAT'S a new one.
It's not so new. I have 3 people in my guild from WoW. I meet people in the game all the time that tell of other things they have played and that they had left carebearland from boredom, etc. Their biggest complaint though seems to be the community. An analogy I heard one time, "Playing WoW after a while was like trying to drag myself out of bed every morning for a job I hate".
Yea sure EQ2 is sooo much better then WoW, prove it by gettibng a player base punks. You got nothing at all and it's because the game blows chunks.
If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)

Troll,
Some of you carebear people like to just say the same thing over and over. 8 million, incredible. However it has been reported that 5.6 million of them are in China. So big deal. Out of the ones that are left, how many are second accounts or more. How many people play the game just because a friend does? Bandwagons. A kid would hang out in a flower shop, if all his friends happen to be there.
If you play what you want because that where you want to be and your better off. Most of these arguements come from just a kid being a keyboard commando, or someone who hasn't ever played EQ2, or not since its early days and doesn't have a frame of reference to base the game on.
It's amazing how many people say so much but mean so little.
We got the point a long time ago. But I suppose if I played a carebear, I'd need an ego boost once in a while too.
I've played wow for almost 2 years now, tried different mmorpg's every now and then when I grew fed up with wow. I've tried EQ2 around june 2006 and yesterday I resubscribed (and cancelled wow) I was waiting for Vanguard but after trying it out I decided to wait for more polish (like better combat animations and nice spell animations) and enabled my EQ2 subsrcibtion again. EQ2 has imho an awesome crafting system, you need to be alert when crafting pressing the right skill at the right moment, so it actually became fun to do, combat animations are also really nice, maybe a bit over the top for some, but personally I like them.
One of the flaws of EQ2 is the lack of variation in armor models, but the devs are aware of this and working on it. The reason for me to start playing eq2 again is the more realistic enviroment + the game has housing + a really nice crafting system + a wider selection of races & classes. I will never say EQ2 is better or worse than wow, just different games but both suited for the solo minded mmorpg player. (to put it simply wow is more simplistic and more polished while EQ2 has more dept and possibilities but because it is a more complex game it's not that polished like wow is)
It always amazes me how worked up people can get over these games... GAMES... It's not a life and death decision, and here they would have you believe the fate of thr free world depnds on your selection of WoW vs. EQ2... Furhtermore, you should be inherently wary of anyone who make blanket statements like "It's 20 times better that WoW in any way" and offer no specifics.
Yes, they are different games, but ultimately they are the same. You kill stuff, you get stuff. You gather stuff, you make stuff. You interact with the world and your fellow players in both. The only major difference really are the seamless world in WoW (no zoning) and the completely different approaches to art direction for ingame graphics. Similar retail fees, similar monthly fees. In EQ2 you can play as a fairy now, so that's kind of innovative and interesting. There's two new races and some new content in WoW with TBC, so that's kind of interesting too.

Ehh yes... I think all or 95% of mmorpg games are based on this concept, thats just how a mmorpg is supposed to be in these times, thats why I didnt bother pointing this out.
All games are copying WoW. Including EQII. In fact, having played EQII on launch for about a year. Played WoW for a year and a half, and just finished up a 3 month run back in EQII I can honestly say they're the same game.
Same fed ex quests. Same drop quests. Same annoying player base. Same annoying leveling system. Same, same, same. What EQ2 has over WoW? Graphics.. What WoW has over EQ2, a variety of play styles. What they both lack? Intrigue and customization. SURE, sure.. You can do this or that in either. Fact is they're both cut from the same cloth.
Just WoW has more personality and the maps are massive. EQ2 is a tad prettier but their animations are bland.
Then there's a hash of middle of the cow pie games following.
Seriously.. Don't break yet. Age of Conan will save us all.
