SOE and competing products

Just throwing this out there to try and start a pseudo-positive discussion on these boards lol!

With the official Vanguard launch days away and already underway for those who pre-ordered, do you feel like Sony is competing with itself by offering too much of the same game?

Personally I feel like Vanguard took all of the good things from EQ 1 and just made it better in some ways, more like streamlining and refining what already exists, not necessarily breaking new ground.

For those with all access accounts (myself included). I feel like there isn't enough variety to the games themselves for the account. I currently am using  my all access acct to play Planetside and EQ2. I reinstalled and quickly uninstalled MxO, same with SWG, thought about EQ 1, but quickly dismissed the idea due to Vanguard being right around the corner.

Will people pay to play EQ, EQ2, and Vanguard? (essentially the same game)

I know NC Soft is "toying" with the idea of an all access pass, which in some ways would be more valuable to me because they have a greater variety of games to play. Tablula Rasa, CoH/CoV, the Lineage Series, Auto Assault, etc.

Anyone else feel this way?

I agree completely. I have time and again thought about paying for the SoE pass, but there just isn't enough variations of games to justify it. I don't need to play 3 different fantasy MMOs. However if NCsoft didsuch a thing I'd totally be on board, especially with Tabula Rasa coming out sometime in the future.

If you have a character and spent a ton of time in them in EQ1 or EQ2 you won't be ditching them to play a buggy MMO that will "be good in 6 months to a year.". I doubt most people want to go through this waiting period for a game and it's developers to get it's act together if they've already been through it in other games.

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.

    Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:

    GW2 (+LoL and BF3)
