Congratulations on winning a Ryzom beta account in the MMORPG.com Ryzom Beta Giveaway. Unfortunately, the account name that you specified could not be found in the application database. Please follow the link below to confirm your account name.
That bothered me. I only ever use one account name. So I went and confirmed like they said. Now I don't know if I'll ever get another e-mail invitation.
Hey Bigcapo, when you were downloading, did you see the size of the download?

Yes I seen the size of the download when I was there. Don't quote me as I can't recall the actual size, but it was something like 480,000Kb or 496,000Kb (give or take).
Why do you ask?
[Edit] I just logged into the FTP right now and the file says 470540KB. The file on my hard drive is 459MB compressed.

Just was wondering how long it will take. Also, I got and installed FileZilla. I entered the address, username, and password (the last two from Themis's email) in the top bar and used the quick-connect function. Is that the way you use it or is there a better way?

Using it that way is fine, it still keeps that address in your history under the Quick Connect tab. If it's a FTP site that you are going to make use of quite frequently, I'd suggest adding to the Site Manager.

Hey, it looks like the server might be back up. I got a new message with FileZilla. Earlier it just said disconnected but now it said to many users.

Hey, anyone else who is downloading the client, what is your download speed averaging at? Mines about 24 kb.

Ya what is really up with this game anyways and the people working on it? I registered my account like a few weeks ago and just got another email recently saying that i did not give the right account, which I did since I checked on my name from the winner's list from MMORPG.com. I sent a confirmation mail like 2-3 days ago and have not gotten an email back yet. Sigh this game seems like its going to have really crappy service. Sigh, no wonder Blizzard is so famous. Even though their games come out soo much later than scheduled, they have a good staff that will take care of your problems immediately like hacking problems and such.
don't forget they are inviting easily more then 5 times the number of people that are in beta right now, and that they will go to next beta phase soon.
only hope when they do so they have fixed the problems

You can tweak AceFTP to prevent the 2-minute manual retries easily enough.
Once you've set up the connection info, right-click on it and select Properties. Then select Connection. You'll see an option for "maximum number of connection attempts." Set this to custom and use a big value. I used 500. Then you can hit connect, walk away, and it'll keep trying for a couple of hours. If you've already connected at least once and started the download, you can even get it to automatically resume for you.
You can also change the interval between attempts, although I wouldn't recommend that. Flooding the server with requests won't help.
For what it's worth, it took me somewhere between 50 and 60 attempts to get in, and about 9-10 hours to download -- but this was during the heavy-traffic period a few hours after the announcement.

I got an e-mail from them too, but it said:

It's 470540KB.
Hm. The FTP server must be down for now. Getting nothing but timeouts on my retries. Oh well. Guess I'm not testing tonight. x.x
Correction: I'm back downloading. I'm sure all of you cared.
