Most relaxing MMO you've played/playing?

When I first started playing MMO's in 2000, the last thing that came to mind while thinking about MMO's was relaxation. Now that I'm out of school and have a job it's really the first thing on my mind(and fun of course) and I'm guessing on the mind of my fellow gamers who are in the same situation as me. Now that generation of gamers has grown up, I would like to know what they think about "Relaxation Factor" and how important it is when choosing new games.

Edit: And of course what are some of the most relaxing games you've played or are currently playing?

I'm either way. I enjoy an intense interactive experience as much as I do one where you just sit back and chill.

I'm finding Ragnarok Online really relaxing atm because of it's simplicity. Just run around smacking mobs in an isometric view with a pastel colour theme that's really soft and easy on the eye. Also since the game's graphics are rather simple, it runs perfectly well with no stalling or stuttering.

The most "intense" mmo I've ever played I think has to be phantasy star universe. It really keeps you on your toes when you're doing a mission where half the mobs can kill you in two hits, and you need to keep dodging those fireballs while also trying to deal damage.

Shame it pretty much sucks in every other aspect though.

Eve is a bit of both. You pretty much can't get more mellow when you're mining or trading, but it has some of the most edge-of-seat pvp I'm aware of.

I have to say either Ragnarok Online, WoW or EVE Online, although I do agree PVP in EVE is quite intense but only be cause the cost of death is so high. I believe the most intense I've played is EQ 2 or Lineage II, constantly watching my back fro Freeps and PKers while trying to retain titles ^_^

Tried: Vanguard, UO, Rappelz, Archlord, RF Online, SWG, WAR, Ryzom, Anarchy Online, AC, APB, STO, Perfect World, Black Prophecy...

Played: EQ,EQII, Lineage, Lineage 2, GW, EVE Online, AoC, DoAC, iRO, AC2, WoW, SWTOR, Runes of Magic, Allods, Rift..
    Currently Playing: Tera

Runescape! Oh man, this game is classic. I started it a couple of days ago to see if it was really a good game or what everyone else bashes it to be. And to my knowledge, this game is great. I'm having loads of fun cutting some trees, fishing, and cooking 'dem fishes.

Hmm thought I might see a number of mentions to old SWG especially as it's cited nonlinearness. I would imagine any kind of crafting game could be er relaxing, though relaxing is probably not the right word. Meditative? perhaps could be more apt. I would say I found Asheron's Call 2 sometimes along these lines as the environments I found really quite nice.

Crafting in SWG was anything but relaxing if you were a server-wide known armorsmith. 24/7 you'd be getting tells and emails with the weirdest custom orders you could think of, asking where your shop was, etc. Then you had to do all the calculations and stuff to make the best armor. I would literally sit in front of my comp with a calculator and a few sheets of scrap paper, and do calculations to make sure I was making the best stuff possible.

I mean, it was great fun and I loved it, but it definetly wasn't relaxing.

thee most relaxing time i enjoyed in an mmo was in my lvl 150 jenquai explorer mining high end roids, it was so relaxing, with the jenquai ambient techno space music in the background, going from one beutiful cloud or star clusters to the next chillaxin in space.

My vote goes for WoW. Some people may not agree with me on this, but in this game i can complete things at my own pace. That's up to Lvl. 60 anyway. That's where it stops.

My most relaxed game is Wurm Online www.wurmonline.com  It is alot about crafting, and i can go what way i want.

I have to say EVE too.  It could be so relaxed if i want to.  Or very  non relaxing when in PVP.

Vanguard, with it's amazing vistas and music.

All the people who pick WoW.EQ2 clearly didnt play on a PvP server.

I usually dont go looking for games to relax in. The only game that came close was a tale in the desert but i only played that game for a few weeks.

If i wanted to relax ill stay with a book or tv but who knows I did love harvest moon and wouldnt mind an online version.

My first MMO, Lineage 1, was very relaxing... when grinding I'd almost enter a trance, it was like a time warp, 8 hours would go by and it'd only feel like 1 hour, it was strange as hell.

Horizons was and is the most relaxing game I ever played. The crafting system is very deep and subltly complicated. Some would consider it a grind ..many others have found it relaxing building structures on plots and making various types of gear.

There is little emphasis to be " top dog " on the adventure side and you can multiclass a single character with any school you like. The world is massive and seamless with tier level towns. For example..I played for 3 years and had a Dwarf ..lv 100 Reaver, lv100 Druid, Lv 100 Healer, and lv 100 Berserker ...and a host of schools at lesser levels. One is never forced into any one school..taking the pressure off trying to pick the righ school from day one.

The community is a pleasant one ...very " small town-ish " ..where pretty much everyone know everyone.

The only problem is....the company that now owns and operates the game shows no signs of actualy caring about the player base. This is reflected in the fact they make absolutely no attempt to communicate ..at all...with anyone...ever. It's kinda eerie actualy. For me...that game sucked less than the rest though..till Vangaurd launched.

My favorite game of all time.  The music in that game was great and the graphics of the systems really put you there.  I had a 135 Terran Trader.  I loved grouping with a Jenquai.......Their bubbles and buffs were awesome.

Try to get into Lord of The Rings online beta. The music is soothing and the world is breathtaking and I am not breaking any NDA's because this opinion could be based on screenshots and music release clips:)

The whole world seems "enchanting"- I can't think of a better word than that for the game. It's coming out at the end of April but if you pre-order- you can play 3 weeks earlier than that I think:)

P.S. and I find WoW very chaotic feeling and very unrelaxing.  People are always running around busy and no one talks in WoW:( I hope LOTR fosters more community with it's style and genre.

Yep I also was a Jenquai explorer. That game was totally amazing, someone needs to bring it back

I think the new Myst MMO is easily the most relaxing MMO I've played. To be fair, though, it's relaxing in much the same way golf is; you can stroll along admiring the scenery and playing the game, but anyone who's easily frustrated will eventually start shouting obscenities and throwing things. I was incredibly relaxed and happy for the first few hours, but eventually ran into a puzzle I just couldn't solve after what seemed like an eternity of trying, at which point I nearly threw my monitor out a window. Fortunately for me, I couldn't lift it. It's definitely a low-intensity game, though. The music is relaxing, the environments are otherworldly, and at no point is there anything trying to eat you, stab you, or otherwise get on your nerves.

I have to say EVE Online is relaxing. I have no pressuring need to play to level up, true you still need ISK (cash) and you can look at that as the "XP" that normal MMOs have. But as a working adult I cant allways be online. But knowing I am still progressing in skills is nice, even when I go on vacation I can put on a long skill and relax in the sun.

When I had a hard day at work, I usually go fishing, do some mining or lumberjacking. Those are realy relaxing in UO. I am not one for sitting at BritBank, which is like the local meeting point, market place chat room all in one, and just talking to peeps all nicht long. relaxing in a mmorpg is for me doing something solo, where I do not have to look out all the time if I am beeing attacked or so. Hence, I love fishing  and lifting those neat little treasures of the bottom of the see.
