When I first started playing MMO's in 2000, the last thing that came to mind while thinking about MMO's was relaxation. Now that I'm out of school and have a job it's really the first thing on my mind(and fun of course) and I'm guessing on the mind of my fellow gamers who are in the same situation as me. Now that generation of gamers has grown up, I would like to know what they think about "Relaxation Factor" and how important it is when choosing new games.
Edit: And of course what are some of the most relaxing games you've played or are currently playing?

I'm finding Ragnarok Online really relaxing atm because of it's simplicity. Just run around smacking mobs in an isometric view with a pastel colour theme that's really soft and easy on the eye. Also since the game's graphics are rather simple, it runs perfectly well with no stalling or stuttering.
The most "intense" mmo I've ever played I think has to be phantasy star universe. It really keeps you on your toes when you're doing a mission where half the mobs can kill you in two hits, and you need to keep dodging those fireballs while also trying to deal damage.
Shame it pretty much sucks in every other aspect though.
Eve is a bit of both. You pretty much can't get more mellow when you're mining or trading, but it has some of the most edge-of-seat pvp I'm aware of.
Tried: Vanguard, UO, Rappelz, Archlord, RF Online, SWG, WAR, Ryzom, Anarchy Online, AC, APB, STO, Perfect World, Black Prophecy...
Played: EQ,EQII, Lineage, Lineage 2, GW, EVE Online, AoC, DoAC, iRO, AC2, WoW, SWTOR, Runes of Magic, Allods, Rift..
Currently Playing: Tera
Runescape! Oh man, this game is classic. I started it a couple of days ago to see if it was really a good game or what everyone else bashes it to be. And to my knowledge, this game is great. I'm having loads of fun cutting some trees, fishing, and cooking 'dem fishes.

Hmm thought I might see a number of mentions to old SWG especially as it's cited nonlinearness. I would imagine any kind of crafting game could be er relaxing, though relaxing is probably not the right word. Meditative? perhaps could be more apt. I would say I found Asheron's Call 2 sometimes along these lines as the environments I found really quite nice.
I mean, it was great fun and I loved it, but it definetly wasn't relaxing.
NGE Refugee.
playing eq2 and two worlds
SWG
You could do sooo much on that game, really relaxing and alot of it was no comabt.

Curt teh Juggler: our graduation ceremony was today, and right when some gamer nerd got his diploma, someone in the audience played the zelda "get item" music and he did the zelda spin-hold-out-item stance
Curt teh Juggler: it was quite possibly the most amazing thing ever.

My most relaxed game is Wurm Online www.wurmonline.com It is alot about crafting, and i can go what way i want.
I have to say EVE too. It could be so relaxed if i want to. Or very non relaxing when in PVP.
I usually dont go looking for games to relax in. The only game that came close was a tale in the desert but i only played that game for a few weeks.
If i wanted to relax ill stay with a book or tv but who knows I did love harvest moon and wouldnt mind an online version.

Horizons was and is the most relaxing game I ever played. The crafting system is very deep and subltly complicated. Some would consider it a grind ..many others have found it relaxing building structures on plots and making various types of gear.
There is little emphasis to be " top dog " on the adventure side and you can multiclass a single character with any school you like. The world is massive and seamless with tier level towns. For example..I played for 3 years and had a Dwarf ..lv 100 Reaver, lv100 Druid, Lv 100 Healer, and lv 100 Berserker ...and a host of schools at lesser levels. One is never forced into any one school..taking the pressure off trying to pick the righ school from day one.
The community is a pleasant one ...very " small town-ish " ..where pretty much everyone know everyone.
The only problem is....the company that now owns and operates the game shows no signs of actualy caring about the player base. This is reflected in the fact they make absolutely no attempt to communicate ..at all...with anyone...ever. It's kinda eerie actualy. For me...that game sucked less than the rest though..till Vangaurd launched.
The whole world seems "enchanting"- I can't think of a better word than that for the game. It's coming out at the end of April but if you pre-order- you can play 3 weeks earlier than that I think:)
P.S. and I find WoW very chaotic feeling and very unrelaxing. People are always running around busy and no one talks in WoW:( I hope LOTR fosters more community with it's style and genre.
Yep I also was a Jenquai explorer. That game was totally amazing, someone needs to bring it back
