Well the way I remember WoW was like this. I was a big time EQII fan and was not going to play WoW, my brother who is still playing WoW bought me a copy and I received it three days after launch. The game ran flawlessly in my 3.0 MHz P4 with 1 gig of ram and a ATI 98000 pro. I never ran across a bugged quest, I never saw any graphics glitches, the only lag I recall was in Ironforge and that was tolerable. I never lost any inventory or bank items.
My only problem was I cannot stand the Warcraft world, even in the strategy games so I played the free thirty and gave the account to my brother. SO can the BS vanboys a lot of us were there at WoWs release and you are just making yourselves look like bigger asses than you already have. Your game has hit he shelves like last nights Mexican dinner in the toilet bowl and the all MMORPGs release buggy crap is really getting old. Go play your game and hope they do a better job of fixing it than Farlan did with Dark and Light.
By the way AnarchyArt did Farlan ever send you the cloth ingame map for DnL or are you still waiting?
I really tried to like game too, but the bugs are getting annoying. I have corpse walk so many times because of the instant spawn of mobs and attack bug is not fun anymore. Maybe I'll try this game a couple of months down the line, but for now I'm not going to pay for a beta release game that they are calling retail version.
Their are a couple reasons why people bother to post slams on games.
1) main reason...putting things ( people, games, anything really ) down makes them feel better about themselves and validates decisions ( usually poor ones ) they have made in their own lives. By putting stuff down..it lifts them up for awhile. I know this because I have many times fallen into that trap. It goes along with the same mentality of shows like Jerry Springer. Judging those poor, wrecked lives makes them feel like their own life is better. Simular mentality. Judgeing anything...puts one in a position of being superior..in their own minds. Generaly makes them look ignorant to the rest of the world though.
2) feeling threateneed....I've noticed this particularly between the Vangaurd and WoW crowd. Seen it happen from both sides. Each group feels threatened by the other. Mostly though...It seems the WoW crowd feels more threatened by Vangarud than the Vangarud crowd feels threatened by the WoW crowd.
The biggest problems WoW faced at release were the massive onslaught of subscribers crashing their servers. The game itself was and still is fundamentally sound. I'm just bored with it.

I got my money back for DnL, and I know it hurts to get caught in a mistake but don't get all defensive. You're only human, much as you might like to think you're some kind of MMORPG god or something. I understand if Vanguard isn't for you, but does that mean you have to come back to this forum day in and day out picking fights and hurling insults? Go find a friggin game to play your damn self. I would be playing Vanguard but I have to work for a living.
Nope, they just don't cry like a baby and they understand that the game is like any other game of this magnitude that gets released. There is quite a difference between understanding and just all out failure of the mind.
I beta tested WoW for 6+ months and release for about 6-7 months on PVP and PVE servers both, with a fairly long break to come back and try it again on both PVP and PVE servers (newly opened ones as well.)
The release was far from smooth, though the lower population PVP server was a bit less problems, though not by a whole hell of a lot.
These were Low-Medium population. I also had a character on one of the High pop servers to see the next level of suck that was attainable and it was truly unbearable on that one (Warsong.)
But to say that the first 6 months of WoW was, for the majority of servers, not fairly rife with issues would be a fairly ostentatious statement at best!
Anarchy Online had a lot more issues that this game at realease though. That took the cake until Dark & Light hit. I played Anarchy Online for a year and a half and had fun with that one as well. It is possible to have fun in a broken game.
No way..Horizons has to be the record holder for " Worst Launch Ever " title. It's still going...but just barely...maybe 1-2k in active subs..if that. I played it for 3 yrs straight however cause the potential was just that high. Always hoping ..someday...someone would fix it up. Hasn't happened yet.
That one went under my radar when it seemed like the original design was turning into vaporware (and the lead guy had to sell his house and car or something, lol.)
I havent experienced most of bugs OP described. I only had group bug once (couldnt invite), quest bug once (couldnt finish), crashed to desktop twice. I think thats about it. None of the bugs realy got "into" me, so I dont realy remember them all. There ARE bugs in VSoH, a lot of bugs, but most of them are either rare or cosmetic enough to forget about them in 5 mins. OP's case is probably worst case scenario.
Seeing how fast the game is being patched up, Im estimating a month or two at the most when the majority of game-breaking bugs will be fixed. In comparison to WoW, WoW had much more polished release from the game performance standpoint - practicaly no bugs whatsoever. The servers however were cursed upon countless times for weeks after release. VSoH servers are fairly stable atm.
All in all, if you dont mind having advantage of playing one of the first at the cost of game stability then VSOH is definitely worth it, if youd rather have a well polished game then i suggest to wait a month or two. Current gameplay is in no way unplayable.
PS: if you get stuck in the ground, get your groupmate to /rope you and pull u up from being stuck.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
I'd say how much bugs I see if my screen to subscribe wasn't just big black and blank for 10 minutes followed by an error logging in message.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You? if I were to kill a titan tomorrow and no CCP employees showed up to say grats I would petition it. Waiting for: the next MMO that lets me make this macro if hp < 30 then CastSpell("heal") SpellTargetUnit("player") else CastSpell("smite") end

I miss DAoC
I am still having fun. I love the classes and the gameplay.
This game has potential and will be a great game eventually. For those that can play through the bugs and have fun then go for it.
If the bugs drive you crazy to the point of it ruining your game play then you should probably hold off a bit. I can certainly understand that.

See you in the dream..
The Fires from heaven, now as cold as ice. A rapid ascension tolls a heavy price.

MAKE FRIENDS, that is where the real fun is at.

You guys should take your comedy team on the road. I think it'd be a big hit.
I'm getting a good laugh, anyway. So keep up the good work.
