I dont get the idea of.....

Started Playing on 30th and I quite like this........although the non PvP servers seem way busier then the PvP (even the team ones) and that confuses me!?!?!? I can see the point of playing a MMO where you compete against another faction but when you just do the quests.....I dont know.........maybe ive got this completly wrong but whats the aim if your not trying to win a victory over someone else in an online game!!!

Like I said I might be wrong and if I am just kick me between the legs!!

Hmmm just thought, is it still faction v Faction in ALL servers and PvP is an extra????

the point of a MMO imo is...

To adventure in a virtual world with other people..whether PvP or PvE.

EQ was primarily non-pvp oriented.  I think the majority of player base of Vanguard comes from EQ.  This is not entirely shocking.  For most, it's not about being better than other players, it's about community, roleplaying and adventuring together.  I think most old school EQ players would say that if you want PvP go play WoW or DAoC or GW or something along those lines.  EVE has an excellent PvP model.

I agree.  Some people like only PvP, some like only PvE some like both.  Can't really fault people for not playing how you do.  (I know the OP isn't faulting anyone, but just saying.)

The point is not victory over another player, its victory over the game world. This game has PvP, but its really centered on group content and adventuring....not destroying the other "team".

    Its a good thing.

I think that is because Players who prefer pvp can't understand why anyone would not want to be on a pvp server, just like pve players can't seem to understand the interest in pvp servers.

I think each group underestimates the other.

The game was designed for hardcore PvE with PvP as an afterthought.  It's supposed to be the hardcore, next gen, leet PvE gamer's MMO -- at least that's what it claimed to be.

The players on the non-PVP servers see it as ALL the players vs. the environment (PvE).  It's like all the players are on one team and the other "team" are all the mobs, npcs, quests, etc.
