    Based around paying real cash for your virtual gear.  That's about all I know about it.

    Forguet it is not for me.

    How many people play this game that way?

    I'd be curious to hear from someone that actually plays this.

    If I'm reading the game guides correctly, it's technically free to download and play, but you're next to useless in the game without spending some real cash on it right up front.

    Nothing is ever free... and if someone (read the company running it) is making a profit, then someone else (probably a majority of users) have to be losing money.

    Other than that... it seems like an infinite grind? I did not see anything about quests on the website.

    Perhaps I'm wrong, still like to hear from someone who plays.

    Retired from WoW
    Rebellion - 60 Warlock || Kalaa - 60 Warrior
    Littlerebel - 60 Hunter || Albie - 60 Shaman
    Played: Erm, a lot more.

    IMO it sucks bad. Try AO, it's honestly the best sci-fi out there presently... not that I'm saying its a good game though.

    The game's entire concept is based on real money. That was the model from day one. So the answer to your question is: everyone who plays it plays that way.

    ahh yeah I remember that one, was it not called Project Entropia before ? anyway as I where unwilling to pay to get gear I hoped I could find some basic stuff around but ended up running around in my underwear LOL with a dinosaur after me, was kinda funny to be honest but the game in itsself blows dogs.

    Its very different from your regular MMORPGs. The game has a dynamic economy and there are a few professions you can try.

    The best thing to do would be not to master every profession or skill in the game but observe the world economy and try to work in a unique edge on something everyone needs or wants. Its very very very time consuming to work on skills, if you have a lot of time to commit to this then you might be able to make a lot of real world money. The game has simple graphics but the world economy  is ever changing and you need to play a lot and find your niche in the system to make a profit. Of course you can just play for fun and if you have a lot of time you can actually never put any money into the game and turn a profit. Time is the key factor for this one.

    Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

    I saw one video about this game, and it says we can get money playng it.

    I am afraid of games like this

    I tried this, although it was quite a while ago.  I put $10 into it, and of course I didnt expect to get the $10 back or anything   Now that I think about it, I never finished spending the $10, I think I spent like $5 of it only...  Anyways, its not really a bad game.  For a game where its so easy to go from game money to real life money, people are surprisingly generous and friendly.  I think thats mostly because the fanbase is fairly mature.

    It takes a lot of time and/or money to make your character really powerful, so if you are the type of player who has to be the best you really shouldnt play Entropia (unless you are very rich, I guess).  That doesnt mean it cant be fun though.

    Some of the players that I met in game seemed to have a pretty interesting idea.  They put in $50 into the game world when they first downloaded the game, then around $10-15 per month after that.  That way they maintain the same payment scheme as they would another mmorpg.  I thought that sounded like a good idea, although I know that personally I wouldnt be able to help myself if I were addicted to the game I would probably throw more money than that into it...

    I might be wrong, but I really dont think the developers of Project Entropia has ever advertised that you will make money in the game directly, and they have always been very informative explaining that most players play for fun and only few make money.  From what I experienced, players didnt seem more concerned about money in Entropia than they would be in any other mmorpg where money has in-game value.    What I mean is, dont worry that the whole Entropia community are rich money hungry lunatics who are all out to scam you, because its really the opposite

    I am playing EU for about two years now.  It differs alot from all other games. It is real cash economy game. That means you pay nothing for client downloads and account creation its all free.  Main story ofthe game is Calypso planet colonization. As a colonist you may choose from several professions like hunter, crafter, miner ,beauty stylist, mindforce user. You may try to develop you avatar in all the above professions but be prepared to invest a lot ofmony and time if you want to be skilledl in all professions.

    I would recoment to read description of EU official site and create avatar in game (it will cost you nothing). After you log into the game try to find mentor. Mentor is a special acivity in EU where moreexpirienced players teach newcommers how toplay game and in case newcommer finisheshis learning (achive required skill in sertan profession) mentor gets gift .

    I played it for a bit... if it wasn't for the real money part it might actually be a decent game.

    Why you do notlike real money? It allows you to control how much you want to spend in game and gives nice possibility to get real cash if you be ableto make money in game.

    Project Entropia is a great game.  Ih theory it is free to play. In practice it is better to deposit a bit, especially if you want to speed up your introduction to the game. It has a lot of aspects which are nice. You can hunt, craft, and mine . there is a possibility to own appartments, shops and even pieces of land. If you dont have a shop you can trade whatever you mine, craft or loot while hunting via the auction or even by yelling out what you have for sale.

    To make life easier you can join a society. Societies are sometimes, but not necessarily specialized in hunting, crafing or mining. This has the advantage that you can learn from your fellow society members and sometimes there is a society system of selling your invetories. This makes your life in EU a lot easier.

    The more you play, the better your skills are which has a lot of advantages. For this reason some npatient players wish to buy skills. this is also useful if you want to sell your skills because you need money or dont want to pursue a certain part of EU anymore. You can even decide to sell all your skills and leave the game (who would want that!).

    you can win money or loose money in entropia. remember, its a game. The playerbase is very dedicated and seems around 25-40 years old. This is nice because of the quality of discussions. you can really make friends here. Sometimes you need them too. For instance if you want to kill a tough mob (creature) in that case you can choose to form a team and kill it together, also you might be stuck in a piece of land with a lot of tough mobs.. you better have friends to rescue you then!

    enjoy

    entropian.

    lol wasn't this game released in like 2000 or something?

    Anyway, Entropia kinda sucks. It's got good ideas gameplay wise, but it's just one of those games that you look at it and are like "hey, this is cool this is cool this is cool.... but why does this game suck?"

    It's just dull. I think it's due to the fact of the RMT concept they are using doesn't fit the game style of the game.

    It's really a good game at it's core. But somehow unplayable.
