From what i've read, V:SOH is going the old fashion route of dungeons with no instancing. Now one of the things i loved about EQ was the ridiculous drama that occured because guild a took out the uber dragon wile guild b was setting up. Does this mean we're going to get the good ole drama of eq?

That would make me ever so happy.

I dont have VG yet, but from other peoples posts, it seems that the game is alot like EQ.

Which can be good and bad.

Either way, yeah it seems it will have the same "drama" of EQ.

yes you too can party like it is 1999, spawn camping is wonderful. Notice how many games have copied it over the years..... well maybe not in the last 5 or so but.....

    I miss DAoC

Not quite.  Quest mobs that are triggered to spawn would be flagged for the group.  They are refered to as "golden mobs".

Im going to say that this is completely true..  though i havent been to a dungeon yet.. i dont know how many times ive gotten screwed out of my kills..   even for quests !!

when you have to go kill 10 of something .. if there is someone else there..  they can kill them and do !!  even if they dont have the quest or not.  Only one that ive seen that you have to be on the quest to get and the other person has to have the quest to bother you with is the collecting ones..    but killing is free game  o.o

I've been in many dungeons and yes, those trains do tend to happen, but not that often. Basically, you see the train, and hide, because those creatures are going to walk that same path right back to their normal spawn point.

So yeah... The good thing is... There are a lot of dungeons that are quite larger then the ones found in EQ.

I love the fear of trains...I SOOOO misssed that from EQ. Man, I had so much fun in Mistmoore cause of the fear of trains and pretty much every other dungeon too. It really made you have to pay attention to what was going on around you..I am glad this is in Vanguard personally.

Haha, Mistmoore. I think when I first partied there I was more afraid of the casters one shotting me through the walls. Wow, that was awhile ago. Don't I feel old...

Boss or important mobs are tagged for your group....no kill stealing in that regard.

If been in alot of groups mainly in khengor's end. There's alot of trains going on, ppl stealing mobs. Stuff like that. It's alot more exciting now ,.

I'm glad this thread popped up.  Reminds one of the fact that Brad did not, in fact, make this game for casual people.  He made it for people that have a fond nostalgia for Everquest.

I get nostalgic also at times...briefly...until I remember that it took me a freaking year to get my Enchanter epic and then another year or so to get my Cleric epic...all the while waiting "In line" so get a chance at Ragefire.  My enchanter went to 30 Hate raids to get the drop needed there....etc etc.

Thank you for bringing me back to my senses.  Although I still plan on trying this game when the free trial comes out and after the game has been out for 6 months-1 year.

Old bad habits from EQ days have also been translated into this game.  The other day another player shamelessly ninja'd two chests in sucession right in front of me, not bothering to help me clear either room of mobs, or asking to group.  When I called him on it, the asshole simply bowed to me.  It seems like the asshole factor from old EQ is back.

Well, INITIALLY whenever Brad McQuaid was asked if the lack of instances would not cause ppl grief each other with kill stealing he told about this wonderful idea mobs would be connected to a group to prevent KSing. This, as many other good features, mysteriously vanished along the way.
