The Worst MMO

What, in your opinion, is the worst MMO you have ever played?

Of the major MMO's out there I've played I've got to say MxO.  The reason being because when I asked in the guild/linkshell chat what is the endgame equivalent of fighting a dragon or some other uber monster with your clanmates I only got two good responses which were "Events" and "Well, we're trying to put together a serverwide PvP competition."

I said, "Ah."

Missions were pretty much the same thing over and over for each faction:  Go to X building, get Y item(s)/rescue Y person(s), take Y item/person to Z building.  Plus I did most of it alone as I could usually never either

A. Find anyone

B. Found people who didn't want to help.

And all the high levels were usually hanging around telephone booths fighting.   I also started playing during the Halloween event and most of the city was covered in darkness.  I remember telling a lvl 50, "I wish I could see more of the city." to which he replied, "Not much to see."

Maybe there was more to do endgame or later on it became fun but from what I saw and heard it didn't garner enough interest for me to consider playing for a long period of time.

Yes, I also find that shallow and pedantic.

I've personally never seen one and I checked for "Worse MMO" in the Search field at the bottom of the page.  Didn't see one specifically labeled that.

Unoriginality isn't new however it's about time someone used sarcasm on the Internet.

Edit: Excuse me, after a more in depth search I found one: http://mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/112126

I've had bad experiences with every MMORPG I've played.  It is the nature of the beast.  Regardless, I'd say the best responses to this will come from players who actually understand what makes an MMO "good".

From personal experience I would have to say Horizons held my attention for the shortest amount of time.  Although many praise the original concept of the game, the ability to play as a dragon immediately threw me.  The rest of the game sort of fell apart as I realized how small the community was.  Other than that, GuildWars is far too instanced for my taste, but many argue that isn't a true MMO.

The only real awnser would have to be Dark and Light.

I mean common, despite any personal vendettas towards other games you might have, Dark and Light is a joke. At least all the other MMOs out have more than 2000 players.

Blade Mistress.  Dark and Light is a groundbreaking excellent game compared to Blade Mistress.  Ohh and you cannot forget about Adventure Quest.

After playing SWG for three and a half years I have to say it is the worst after much experience.  It was once awesome however now it is a joke.  When I first started when it came day one it was a challenge to do anything.  After a year had passed a rumor spread that it was possible to be Jedi. a little later the devs made it possible to get it a little easier.  When you saw a jedi it was somthing special and it was like "Oh my god a jedi take screenshots!" a Jedi was the toughest charecter to play and the threat of bounty hunters "Such as myself" were always making t harder.  Then the first revamp came out.  The game was simplified and lost much of it's luster and now jedi was much easier to obtain as well as to grind.  by the third year the latest revamp made it so it was a standard profession and any class could school them.

Not just that but the simple fact that the game was so simple that it made simple one player games look difficult.  I don't know but after three and a half years of playing SWG I feel like I waisted a portion of my life except the friends I made.

    SWG - PostNGE
    MxO - Anytime
ATITD3 - ATITD2 was "so-so" and ATITD1 was actually fun... funny how he makes it less fun every version update.

DDO is the worst game out there. It TRIES to be D&D third, and it fails miserably.

You dont even start with Magic Missile. Warforged are TOTALLY incorrect in that game. Fucking NPCs get extra AC based on their CR. Who ever heard of this crap? Okay, so an NPC gained 2 or 3 levels, and now he gets +9 to his AC? Bull.

The players are generally retarded, no one roleplays (which is unheard of considering D&D is a ROLE PLAYING GAME), and the quests are repetitive, considering you have to do them over and over (albiet on varying difficulties) to gain experience.

Speaking of experience... You have to get something like 5000 experience to get to level 2. Then its something like 18000 to get to level 3. LEVEL THREE?! The experience requirements are CLEARLY listed in the PHB, coming in at 1000 experience for level 2, and 3000 experience for level 3.

A CR 3 Kobold can hit my character for 12 points of damage? Thats bullshit. Its not even possible for a Small sized Kobold to even THINK about that much damage, even if he has "extra levels". This game is for retarded D&D players, who can look at a drow and be like "OMFG I GIT T3H DR0W", and play with their flaming longswords.

The only redeemable quality are the quest features, such as exterminating Kobolds, solving a puzzle, etc. Those are kinda neat. However, after solving the SAME PUZZLE 4 TIMES (One for each difficulty), I get tired of it.

Lets not forget that after an increase of 1-2 CR, a creature gets TRIPLE the HP of their normal counterparts. Also, the Feats are totally fubared. They just made a bunch of shit up and threw it in a pot, labeling it an MMO. MMO? Yes it is. MMORPG? No, it isnt.

Much like ALL of the games nowadays, DDO is NOT an MMORPG. Experience points and hot chicks with little clothing do not an MMORPG make. It takes ROLE PLAYING to make a ROLEPLAYING GAME work. If they would have stick to the official D&D rules, the game would be golden.

    Screw DDO.

    1. Matrix Online for the reasons already mentioned + billing my credit card during the 'free' trial

    2. SWG (pre NGE) for lying about Jedis being in game then making it insanely difficult to become Jedi

    3. SWG (post NGE) too easy and lots of problems

    4. EQ2 for nerfing my alchemist 2 months after release

    5. AO after the very disappointing Lost Eden expansion

I wouldn't agree with #2... for the time period they *SHOULD* have been that difficult, but I'll side with ya on #2 if you change it to "SWG (pre NGE) for picking a stupid time period that limits them to much and prevents the majority of people who want to be jedi from being able to be." ;P
