Vanguard Highest Ranked MMORPG in this site? Incredible!!!

Have been playing Vanguard and had not visited this site for about a week.   Just came and Lo and Behold, in spite of all the nay sayers Vanguard is on top of the list of Highest Ranked MMORPG's, including EVE?  Its ranked a very respectable 8.3 on this site?

I could not believe it.  Not that I disagree.  The game is everything they said and more.. but... If its so bad as all those people have been saying, how come its ranked so high?  You mean I was right all along?

You should really read the forums a bit more after a long absence before posting again...  This topic has been ranted and raved over quite a bit now...  And the only consensus is that people disagree strongly about this game.

I'd probably say it has something to do with Sigil closing their official forums.  With all those players displaced they had to find places to go to and this site probably ended up with more than a few.

The thing has only been out a week.  You have a group of haters rating everything a 1 and a group of Vanbois rating it at all 10s. 



Give it a few months to be played and actually rated with seriousness as opposed to those that are attempting to drive the ratings in a certain direction as of right now.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that happens on every mmo that gets released. I remember when RF Online was ranked #1 the day it launched, look at it now. Just wait a couple of days/weeks/month(s) when people can give a definite review of the game. Or when the eve fanbois strike back!

Using this theory would lead me to believe there are in actuality very few haters and a lot more people that actually like it. Otherwise the rating would be much lower. There are obviously a lot of people offsetting the vocal hate choir that sings so loud on these forums day in and day out. If they could get paid for posting Vanhate they would be millionaires.

All I was saying is that I think the rating is inflated.  Whether or not this is true has yet to be seen, its entirely too early.  Maybe a ton of people love it, I wouldn't be surprised, if its good, it won't move.

I am not surprised...I know a lot of people were very surprised when they started up the game with how good it actually is.  With the talk of the early release, and SOE, and people bashing it (like anything else) I feel like those that preordered a while ago thought they were going to have a horrible experience with it...but its quite the opposite, at least for the people I work with that have it.

Its largely because the naysayers have too much free time as no game worth playing lives upto their personal wants and people playing and enjoying VG have little time to make stuff up.

Interface: WoW ripoff

Quests: WoW ripoff

Avatars: lots of customization available (not at all like WoW), fairly realistic all things considered



I felt like I was playing a reskinned WoW, but there was actually a community feel to the game, something I've found very lacking in WoW.



I'd be more excited if it weren't just another Elves and Trolls MMO, but that's a completely subjective opinion.

Remember when Dark and Light was #1. All it takes are 500 or 250 fanboys with and alt exach giving it a perfect 10. If it had 3500 votes and was nymber one I would give it a small bit of credibility.

Actually it takes more than that Jackdog.  As you would know, I'm sure more than a handful of people that post here from time to time gave it a 1 across the board "just to offset those Vanbois"



So, considering that it's still at 8.3.  That means the "lovers" are about 3-4 to 1 over the "haters".  Here's what I mean:



player who likes Vanguard = 10

player who dislikes Vanguard = 1

Average = 5



10 + 10 + 1 (i.e. 2 likes, 1 dislike)

Average = 7



10+10+10+1

Average = 7.75



10+10+10+10+1

Average = 8.2



So, considering that some "haters" perhaps gave it more than 1, and some "lovers" gave it less than 10.  That puts us somewhere between 3 and 4 to 1 ratio for those that like it over those that hate it.

And WoW ripped off the Quests, Interface from? WoW did nothing new, get over it.

As for quests, you obviously didnt level very far as the quests get better and better as you level, as they should.

when I made that post there were less than 600 votes, so 250 fan boys with 1 alt each could swing it way over

Does vanguard deserve to be near the top?  Yes.  Does it deserve to be the top?  No, and note that I play this game religiously.

The game has the POTENTIAL to be the best MMO and it is a good one, but there is no way a game released prematuraley and with this many bugs remaining can be the best.

This is simply a case of "the grass is greener on the other side".  Because it is new, people are all excited and aren't really comparing it as objectively as they can.

Give the game a month or so to iron things out and it might earn the title.  As of now it is overhyped.

DnL was never number 1 after release... and if was it was only for like 5 minutes. It was number 1 only during the hype faze. So far on vanguard the servers are starting to fill up, its already getting good reviews, and many many people are having a blast, me included. Its fr from the flop many said it would be, so stop with the excuses and just admit you were wrong.Just because you dont like a game doesnt mean its no good.

if you had ever botehresd reading my posts you would know that many times I have said just because I do not care for a game does not mean it is good. I did not care for COH, Eve, Ryzom or WoW but that does not meant they are bad games. However this game is much closer to a 6.5 than a 8.3

hey when it gets to 25 servers all with high lvls at prime time wake me ok? Then I will admit it is a decent game.

Last I checked it was tied (in average) to at least two or three other games.  Not trying to burst anyones bubble but that's what I see.

Not to burst anyone's bubble but last I checked it was tied with a few other games.  I know it's just the average in overall ratings and that Vanguard has an edge somewhere in the numbers (graphics, value, etc.), but I guess it's something for the Vanguard fans to be happy about.  'Grats on your game getting at the top of the list.
