How to become amateur level in mining?

Hi,



I have chosen mining and lumberjacking for havesting . I am now 112 harvesting and 101 Quarrying but I am still stuck with Basalt  for only Quarry.



If I have understood correctly there is a book to read. I have purchased the "Amateur Mining" book (since I was leveling from Novice to Amateur) but I can't use it (Got a message "Item activation failed because you are missing a prerequisite character objective").



There is no "Novice Mining"book. So ... Waht did I miss? Is there a quest to fulfill ? Something I missed or is it just a bug?

Forget it ... I am an idiot ... I needed the Quarrying book ... not the mining one.  STUPID

where did you get the Mining book at ? I am stuck with similar issue

The harvesting supplier carries these books along with tools and such.
