That is how I felt about this game a year ago.... now I'm not so sure.  Mythic only exists as a hypenated branch or EA now.  I have a little less faith in EA to provide the kind of deep experience most of us expect from an MMO than you do, I guess.

Here is why I am ok with it. Mythic has said EA is basically leaving them alone in terms of team and development, they are just adding resources to the Mythic team. It brings in more funding, which adds to the potential that gives Mythic to implement more of their plans. The biggest reason behind me still wanting to play this is that Games Workshop has a hand in every single aspect of WAR. They have more riding on the success of this game than anyone. They own the IP. If it does well, think of all the potential new customers to the other aspects of their worlds, including the Warhammer 40k, Lord of the Rings and all the offshoots of those. If it goes badly, that's a ton of lost potential.

    huh?

Im sorry but you made just as much sense as coma did in his post.

You have a little less faith in EA?

WHO cares about EA, MYTHIC is making this show roll, not EA.

You don't think that by OWNING mythic EA has any influence over the game?  It's not like SOE just publishing Vanguard... Mythic exists only as a division of EA. EA is making this game.

I'll be trying AoC, if that lets me down (or if I hear enough goodiness about WAR) I will give WAR a try, its just these graphics, I can't stand them!!!
  • SeptopusSeptopus Member Posts: 101
Yes I will most likely by buying this game (probably pre-ordering actually)

It just looks so beautiful and unique, I love the whole cartoony/realistic graphics, along with the great art style.

Also the races and different classes really intrigues me, finally I won't be fighting a clone of myself on a different side.

In the end this game could turn out to be terrible, but I choose to hope! I so hyped about this so please do not disappoint WAR!

If both deliver I'll play both. WAR seems like the perfect bit of speed-up fun and AoC is what I can dedicate most of my gaming time to for a more deep RPG feeling.

Definitely going to play War Hammer on Pc, and Conan on the 360 if it's any good.

Some really interesting results on the poll here. Sorry about the Khorne sacrificial pit thing - it was the first thing to jump into my head, and well... it seemed nasty at the time. I'm amazed that so many people are going to take the risk, right at release. But then again, it is Warhammer after all - and who wouldn't want to be part of a world as rich as that? Of course, there's always the ignorant, but hopefully they'll see the light if Mythic does a good job with WAR.

The thing I notice most, is that there seem to be quite a few DaOC players who have a lot of faith in Mythic as a MMORPG dev team. That has to be good news for those of us who have no experience with their games. And good news for WAR too.

I really look forward to hacking all my enemies apart. It's going to be so much fun, this game.

I'll have the game on pre-order. I'm not a this-or-nothing fan though - I'll also have pirates of the burning sea on pre-order, and maybe Gods and Heroes or AoC; all four have lots of potential, and I'm betting one of them will pan out. But, of the four, the big money is on WAR.

People make games, not companies. Company and brand-name loyalty and hatred have always struck me as strange - when I like something, I usually try to find out who the people behind it were. I believe in the judgment and creative ability of the guys behind WARs development - the company logo on their nametag is irrelevant.

For the Mythic thing in particular.

I loved DAoC. Right up until ToA was released. I still think it is a top notch MMO and you can see just how much the development team at Mythic care about this game. They saw the mistake parts of ToA presented and changed it. You no longer need the item to get an artifact, just the book and encounter credit. It's much easier to get into a raid to get master levels. This is where I believe the public quest system came about we will get in WAR. It's been modified to make it easier to join, but it's the same premise. The addition of Classic servers removing ToA aspects from the game.

Mythic really cares about the games they create and it shows. This is why I believe WAR will be a good game and one well worth my spending a great deal of time playing. I'm not the only one. 90% of my guild feels the same way.  We are all kind of just floating right now between multiple MMOs and other games. WAR is going to bring us back to a single game and it's one we will be able to play through the end game on since we choose to stay smaller. WoW killed it for us when we hit 60. We could do the smaller instances, but MC was out because we didn't have enough. We had to join up with a couple other guilds to do MC and BWL. That situation didn't turn out well for anyone in my guild. That's why we are so looking forward to this one.

We are patiently watching for the guild beta application. Soon as it's up, we plan to apply. Many of us want this to be the next big game for us and we want to do anything we can to help it reach that point.

i will, seems to me to be the only mmo worth looking at, except AoC but i dont like the style of that one.

Love the RvR idea, and DAoC sounds like it was a classic.

When I first played WoW, there were a lot of things that reminded me of daoc and of pretty much every other mmo before WoW. Once Mythic releases this and expands the rvr that they created, it's going to dethrone WoW. Even if the subscriptions do not decrease much at first, I'm definitely buying it for this reason.

Has no one flamed you yet?

Why on earth did you bring up WoW and PVE.

This isnt WoW FYI and if you knew absolutely anything about WAR you would know that its NOT ABOUT PVE

I'm buying it. I've written off everything else being released this year, so at the very least I'll give this one a try. If I waste 50 bucks on the box, that's fine, I wont' renew my subscription, but I'm gonna be there right from the start.

I'm not even that interested in getting in the beta. Somehow being in betas kinda spoils a new game. It's better to see it all nice and shiny the first time, rather than getting in there while it's still in tatters.
