lvl 13 to 45 in one day? Guess we see one of the first exploiters.

http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/characters.vm?characterId=51539654162

Level 13 to 45 in one day, all the while having a single NPC selected, check out his leveling screenshots.

Hmmmmmmm. ;)  I mean, com'on, atleast try not to make it toooo obvious.

Oh, and since there are no Sigil forums this qualifies as my "Sigil, you better fix this, and pummel this guy into the ground." post.

hmmm...sounds fishy...and I don't mean fishy in the good sorta way....wait is there a good way? oh nvm...

Three reasons why he might be lvl 45 so soon....

    1)cheating<-seems like the most likely

2)is one messed up hardcore player who doesn't have any real-world goals<- needs a girl/boyfriend and if he/she has one....I want their life

3)game is way to easy <-hmmm...not to sure on this...

Yeah, time to call shenanigans on this guy... he'll get his account banned.

BTW..there are direct ways to get information to Sigil...I just used one to report this....

This guy needs to get nerfed!
  • stylee99stylee99 Member Posts: 116

They've reset a few people exploiting already. There was that drakke guy from a few days ago reset to level 1 (don't know if they're banning also), but it was very similar to this guy - all pictures shown were at the same NPC. Expect this guy to be reset soon.

As long as they fix the exploit these people are using, resetting to level 1 is ok IMO.

This may be one of the reasons Sigil and  SOE decided to have all this player info viewable by other people on the web.  It allows a lot more people to watch out for suspicious behavior and bring it to the attention of the staff at Sigil.

Report ANYONE you suspect of Exploiting in-game using the /petition command. Provide as much info as posible. People have / are getting banned over these things, and Sigil takes these things VERY seriously.

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

To report abusive or exploiters do the following, helpful if you catch them in the act on your screen like cussing, or being an asshat

/report ganing (or whatever the players name is) <-- will take an auto ss and copy last 10 lines of text and send it to GM queue

Then file a  /petition for conduct  violation and tell them how you came about it and tell them that you did a /report about a player. I.E. Went on vanguard players and someone gained that many levels and you have the automatic SS's to prove it.

This just reinforces my opinion that they should have kept the game in beta for a longer period of time.

I don't know WHY people are surprised a rushed game is full of exploits like this.

Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...

Yes, we are very aware of your opinion on the matter Cymdai.  But, aren't we past that now?  It's not like they can put the genie back in the bottle.  Even Brad said he wished they had another couple months of development, but this is reality.

As to a new MMO having exploits, yes that shouldn't surprise anyone either.  Even WoW, with all it's "polish"; had/has an exploit or two.    The real test is how quickly it is fixed, and what is done to the exploiters.  We have already seen accounts banned, and some accounts reset to level 1.  I think that's a step in the right direction, don't you?

Do you have reference to where they've said they've banned people/reset them to 1?  I saw someone mention that, but as of right now, I haven't seen Sigil say they have done this, or any real proof.

All the adventure gear he has is newbie gear. It is all equipment that was dicovered in the first day of play, Jan 26th. Let alone his throwing dagger is the lowest throwing dagger one can use, Crude.

I know EXACTLY what your talking about, I mean it took WoW a couple of months after release to fix the Pally and Shaman exploits, Gold dupping, and numerous other exploits; I mean there are still exploits in the game but I know that Blizz is working on those, and if Blizz can do it in several months/ years time then Sigil should be able to have all the exploits out of the game well before release.

    Give a rest already.

  • AeronisAeronis Member Posts: 231
There isn't a single MMORPG that hasn't had exploiting happen in the early days. Even games that have good launches.

It's not a matter of being rushed, but a simple fact of how large and complex the game is that you cannot expect to find every exploit before the game releases.

I personally have seen someone reset to one. It was that Drakke guy I refered to in my other post. He was level 38 and people on a different forum linked to his vanguard players page, which showed auto pics of him taken ALL at the same NPC, levelling. The next day, he was level 1. Like I said, I've personally seen it.

Every game has exploits even games that have been out for yrs so saying that ppl who get to a high lvl with an exploit an saying that it shows the game was released to soon shows you dnt have much knowledge of mmo's. An as the days pass they are fixing theis major exploits that was missed in beta. In beta they dnt catch every thing.
  • RookerithRookerith Member Posts: 11

*shrugs* I didn't post this because I wanted to say the game wasn't ready, I wanted to post it because I don't want people to get away with it.

'course with anything of this scope it's going to have problems.  I don't even necessarily want him banned, I'd be fine if tomorrow he logs in and finds himself level 13, you know?

Ah well dnt worry they keep taps on ppls lvl an how an where they progress in the game, even with money exploits they can find the ppl who used it so about 90% of the time exploiters are discovered if its a major exploit like going from lvl 13 to 45 in a day or geting rich with out doing any thing.

o sorry to seem harsh about my former statement, just there are a lot of ppl who only played one mm'o for for a short an think they know it all.
  • kattjakattja Member Posts: 112
My guess is it is something like a quest which when completed under a certain circumstance, the "completion flag" (for lack of a better term) is not set, and they can close the window, click on the quest NPC again, click complete, rinse and repeat...ad-nauseum.

(Then get reset to Phase-1/Day-1 the next morning and start crying about how it is not fair his character data was erased, and how he lost "all that time," etc.)

Hey now, there are plenty of games that have had money duping problems. Star Wars Galaxies, FFXI, WoW; 3 highly recognized names that had issues with such exploits.

However, I don't know too many games that had such TREMENDOUS leveling exploits present.

So you guys can flame me and give me the "it happens in other games" stuff all you want, but I guess this is just the first time I've noticed one of this magnitude. I don't recall seeing anyone hitting 60 in WoW in a day off a leveling bug.

Sorry, the "it's still in beta" garbage isn't really applicable here anymore.

As dragonace said, we'll have to see how quickly they remedy the situation to see if it's a truly significant problem.

Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...
