Is it as "hard" as eve online to learn the ropes? i've just parted from the game, playing it since release, and just found out, hey, its time to move on, and when ppl say its a "hard learning curve" and me loving the FF series and the music and such, i had to try it! :)

    Very steep learning curve.

Might wanna check out this while installing, and skim through the parts you don't know about.

its a great game, and early on you might feel overwhelemed. Ask for help, people are very nice on ffxi. Also, you might find it hard to find a group, and if you do, make your own! Even if you are really new, you will start grouping at around lvl 12 which by then you should have some good insght on how to get things going. this game takes a lot fo time to do a lot of stuff, which makes it VERY worthwhile, and there is almost too many things available. Patience is key in this game, an if you can, try to find a guild to help you, most time they are sometimes leveling alts, just to help the newer members.

i have played tons of RPG online games, so i know "how to be" a class, but what is the easiest to start of with, to learn the ropes with?

    Probably Monk.

You don't have anything incredibly important to do in partys in the early levels other than hit the mob.

You can watch other jobs and see how they work.

And decide where you wanna go from there.

I would really reccomend reading some newbie guides to the game. It's not like other MMOs.

That would probably be Warrior. It's also the second most versatile sub-job for later on in the game, at least when you first get your sub-jobs. White Mage is also fairly easy at the low levels, since all you have to do is heal, run out of MP and then get yelled at for letting the party wipe. Avoid Black Mage unless you want to do research - good BLMs have to know what elements go with which mobs, and the game itself is a bit coy on letting you know what they are. Thief is okay at the low levels but once it hits the 30s it becomes a lot more complex.

Oh yeah, agreeing with Rinic... Monk is good. Not so great once you get your sub-jobs, though, because subbing monk isn't terribly effective. If you start with monk, try to level warrior or white mage right behind it, so that you have something good to sub once you get to lvl 18.

yeah, im reading on this n00b info someone posted a few minutes ago, still 50min left of download here, so im reading and getting a general idea how to see this, i think ill try make a warrior, and a healer and a monk, just to try out the game, see how it is first, then decide how things are, as you guys say they are easy atleast at the first few lvls :)

yea that happens when a game is pretty old and has had many expansions and updates. Patching take several hours on Broadband that is such a pain but if you already had it you shouldn't have uninstalled it LOL
