Well if you played in the open beta then you probably realized that when it launched, things that got fixed became broken again. hmm, maybe a recent patched broke everything? no. They just didnt use the latest server build. If you payed attention to the open beta patch notes and the launch patches over the last few days (to 2-2-07) you'd notice they same exact things were getting patched the same way. most obvious of these is the auto roll system. it looked plain with only white text and wouldnt work properly. on 2-2-07 they fixed it with different names for the roll threshold. it looked just they way it had been in open beta. Coincidence? no, they just decided to recycle the patches of open beta while they collect the money from the box sales. thats just how SOE is, they do it with every game.
the fact Sigil claimed SOE wouldnt have any influence on the game and was just there to publish it and run the servers was a blatant lie to every one. the most easiest thing to see harmful influence of SOE is mainly with the billing plan. SOE Station access was made for SOE only games because the $24/m would have to be split with partners if they allowed it. look at the terms. SOE incorperated the strict toons per account as they did with EQ2. the whole billing system came from a copy of EQ2 (a bad game to copy anything from imo)
there is just so much to point out and not enough things to look forward to. even the damn pvp spell damage and affects was nerfed with a quick fix with no testing to see how it would affect other classes. 50% nerf saying it was a bug that spell damage and debuff abilities (snare, root, stun, ability leech, timers, effect % etc) would go to the numbers the spell info said it would ("fixed a bug that would cause inflated spell damage in pvp.").

I agree with the PvP thing. i don't know how they though that my lightening bolt that was supposed to deal 130 some odd damage was broke when it hit a guy even to +3 or 4 lvls for 400-500 dmg. I mean the tool tip says 130 and 400-500 is right. Right? Also when i called Sigil and told them about my urinary track infection they told me they couldn't do anything about it!! WTF!! Now that's some crappy CS for ya.
Lemme guess. Bow and dagger in L2 for easy mode were ya? And you must be one of the new L2 subs cause if you played when it came out you wouldn't be complaining about VG. HMMM, yes, yes NCSoft did cut my spell dmg and make mobs harder a few months after release, mmm, yeah, yeah, they even changed the weapon I spend near a mill on when I started, yuppers I really miss falling through the invisible holes in roads on a nearly daily basis. Oh then there was the memory leaks that would cause the game to shut down if I tried to sit and sell in town, and the nifty way that my ATI card wasn't fully supported.

NCSoft: CoH/CoV -> $$ (Was almost separate sub price for both, but players lucked out somewhat, though gameplay is pretty cookie cutter compared to original. Same potato, new skin.)
NCSoft: Guild Wars: ...Any of them... -> $$ (Obviously...as there is no sub price. Why anyone would want to pay for that community I have no idea. It is pretty atrocious!)

i was apart of the beta phase 1 and from what i know SOE had no part in VG. I was with it for 4 months and then got reaaaal tired of the game or something i guess. Microsoft and Sigil were the ONLY companies involed with the game. Then about a year later i look into it and SOEs name is ALLLLL over the game. I was REALLLLY shocked to see this, but it didn't bother me enough to look into it. What happen to the M$ influence in the game?

SOE gave them another year + of development time which is much more than microsoft were giving + Microsoft wanted it to be Vista only and on the 360.
He's right its not SOE they gave them a 1+ year round up time, but sigil was to afraid to release near AoC and WAR so they decided that releasing now with only a few probelms would'nt be so bad.But they were wrong.They still have many bugs they have to fix and the game well only truley be enjoyably around July when it was supposed to be released.They'll probably fix 98% of bugs / glitch's by that time.

Microsoft has a history of cancelling mmo's before they are released. EA's story is cancelling them after a year or so. SOE gave Sigil the extra time needed to SEE a launch, somethng I doubt MS would have given them. So, IMHO SOE has given life to Vanguard and in the long run it will be a better game for it.
Except for the mistakes made by SOE in SWG they actually have some good games out there. $24.99 for the Station All access is a great deal, allows me to play my "mood" at any one given time. Now if other companies would only follow suit, I might still ahve an active COH Auto-Assualt account.
Everything is SOE's fault, even the things that have nothing to do with them is their fault.
But seriously, in part you can't really blame people for despising this company. They've earned their reputation by the lowdown things they've done in the past. It's hard not to forget, especially when they have part of their foot in this game. I'm not suggesting they're managing the game but just knowing they're near it gives people the creeps and you can't blame them.
Just hope they don't influence or buyout this game or else they'll be a "NGE" in Vanguard also.

I played SWG from day 1 as well. I had 4 of my real-life friends buy and play SWG. We had a blast just running around and exploring, trying out all kinds of things we had never experienced in an MMO before.
I really enjoyed my Creature Handler/Scout/Pistoleer, looking for those rare babies, sneaking up and trying to train them, running away if they aggroed on you, then coming back and trying it again. Pulling the baby creature out and training them, trying to get them to grow without dying. Running all over the planets looking for the perfect spots to drop harvesters to make a ton of cash from doctors looking for the ultimate resources.
It was a lot of fun. Well, for anyone who played the game; they know what happened to Creature Handlers. I stopped playing just after the CU - and moved on to EQ2. Didn't even cross my mind that I didn't want to play EQ2 because it was made (not just published, but developed as well) by SOE.
If you play MMO's to have fun, then you aren't going to get "burnt" by any decision that a company makes sometime in the future. What they do or don't do in the future is something we have no control over, so I guess that's why I don't worry about it. I had fun in SWG - so I played it. When I stopped having fun - I stopped playing. Seemed like a logical decision.
I guess it didn't really cross my mind to develop a burning hatred towards the company that decided to change THEIR game. I figured it was their choice, not mine to make. I didn't agree with it, so I left. End of story.
I am so sick of hearing about SWG. Yes, they screwed the game up. Yes they screwed over their players. No it wasn't the end of the world. Quit living in the past already. Between SWG and all the WoW hate, this place can sound like a broken record some days.

Oh and i hate the NGE just as much as the next person...but i have accepted that its the game the devs are continuing with..I played SWG since closed beta, felt my heartbreak after the NGE..but time heals. My friends and guild still keep in contact with each other, and we have fun now again in Vanguard, while another portion went to WoW.

I know several people who get raped by SOE and still are willing to pay SOE to play EQ2 or Vanduard (and none of them liked the changes in SWG). What kind of sick masoshism needs to be in their minds. It's people like them that let the company do such things. If they won't pay them any money for beeing ignorant maybe SOE would remember that the customers are more than simple cash-cows. It's this stupid behavior of the customers that make it possible that every new game (MMO or not) comes to marked buggier and unfinishder than the one before. If they wouldn't buy any hyped game from well known "black sheeps" maybe there wouldn't be so many of them.

I seem to recall hundreds of posts stating not to worry, SOE was only producing the game. Well, its obvious with the early release, bugs, terrible customer support, and pricing that SOE is heavily involved. SOE sure has a way of repeating their mistakes over and over. I recall being a beta tester in SWG. The game was definitely nowhere near ready for release. Nor was there any talk of release on the beta forums. Beta was assumed going to last many more months. Suddenly out of nowhere SOE announced the game was going gold in two weeks. Sound familiar ? Vnaguard devs were talking about the moving on to the next stage in beta. Testers were posting the game was still months away from being ready. Companies like EB Games had estimated release dates for May. And suddenly once again a game with the ugly name of SOE on announces its going gold. I know dozens of friends in other MMO's that still dont know Vanguard was even released. They havent followed the game that closely as they wrongly assumed it was 6 months away from launching. Vanguard definitely needed more development time. If you enjoy working games with few issues, then stay away from this clunker. I played the game for 3 days, thats all I could stand. There were major exploits. One friend of mine couldnt explain how he got to level 18 by only killing 50 mobs but he did. The lag is so bad the game is unplayable. And Im not talking about lagging out because there are 20 people around. I didnt see more than 4 people together in one place. Anytime some npc guards walked near me, I lagged out. And dont blame my system...AMD FX2, 4 gigs ram, dual 7800 512mb cards in sli (thats 1g total video ram), and 30mbps cable internet connection. For those with nvidia cards, enjoy many errors. Each time I entered any body of water my screen went black. Sometimes typing /flush fixed it. Other times I had to reboot. I could go on and on about many other issues but who has the time. And it seems SOE knew this game wouldnt be that big of a hit when it launched...i saw 6 servers to choose from roughly, not a lot of confidence there eh SOE. To put that number into perspective, Matrix has 3 servers and its one of the lousiest mmo's of all time. And finally, SOE has in place its world-famous flogging pay system. Want extra toons, give us more money. want access to stats of your toon, give us more money. How about some other useless feature, only 99 cents more. It was like signing up for EQ2 all over again where every little thing had a surcharge for it. SOE charges premium fees for features everyone else gives away for free. The only reason I even tried this game was a friend of mine bought the game, tried it for one day and gave it to me. Due yourself a favor, dont waste any money on thi game. Like all SOE products, there is some potential there but it will never be realized.
Like i care if SOE is invoived , WOW you lag in vanguard , sucks to be you i play with every setting maxed at 1920 X1200 , my wife plays on a AMD 3200 , 2gigs and a X850 XT on the highest quality settings and we we loaded the game up on my son's computer i bought so long ago not even sure what is in it but the card is a 9600 pro lol and he could play on balanced , yes he lagged a little but he isnt a whining little baby so he is having all kinds of fun
That stink isn't SOE it is Brad. M$ ditched him when he mislead them. SOE gave them extra time and funding, but they still couldn't keep up with any schedule they created and told them their funding was ending. As much as a hate to say it the massive improvements all happened AFTER they were lent SOE programmers. Which just goes to show they have talented programmers, but morons leading all the projects.
Vanguard is a fantasy game, and the whole point is for the player to immerse themself in the fantasy.
Sure it is just a game, but when you are immersed and identifing with your character, you have to experience major frustrations when the game consistently crashes or will not run as you might reasonable expect.
Neither Sigil or SOE are charitable organisations or well meaning amateurs. They are not deserving of the benefit of the doubt or apologists jumping to their defence. They are hard nosed commercial operators who, if they were in any other line of business, might well be prosecuted for selling shoddy goods.
There is no excuse for the pathetic performance of the game and of SOE as it has affected so many players in the EU

From my own point of view, I like and enjoy the game. However, the past ten days have been a nightmare of glitches and problems, plus also crashes and cannot access.
As for Soe, they seem to practise the Mushroom Method.............. Keep you in the dark and throw shit on you several times a day.

I guarantee you the folks behind the scenes are already working on plans as the game is an obvious flop. 6 half empty servers hardly is a success. But enjoy playing your game with "potential" and its 100k players and falling. And just like any SOE product with potential, it will never be fufilled. Bu go ahead and waste your money and time for an immoral corrupt company that will dump your hard work in a minute.

Look...if you people don't like the game...don't play it. I hate wow and its gameplay, but you don't see me whining and throwing tantrums on their forums. Why? cause i respect people enough that if they enjoy a game then its their own preferance. You cannot tell someone OH YOU SUCK CAUSE YOU LIKE XXXX. Everyone likes what they like. You don't ... just leave em be and move on.
Oh and i hate the NGE just as much as the next person...but i have accepted that its the game the devs are continuing with..I played SWG since closed beta, felt my heartbreak after the NGE..but time heals. My friends and guild still keep in contact with each other, and we have fun now again in Vanguard, while another portion went to WoW.

I know several people who get raped by SOE and still are willing to pay SOE to play EQ2 or Vanduard (and none of them liked the changes in SWG). What kind of sick masoshism needs to be in their minds. It's people like them that let the company do such things. If they won't pay them any money for beeing ignorant maybe SOE would remember that the customers are more than simple cash-cows. It's this stupid behavior of the customers that make it possible that every new game (MMO or not) comes to marked buggier and unfinishder than the one before. If they wouldn't buy any hyped game from well known "black sheeps" maybe there wouldn't be so many of them.
Maybe Vanguard is a nice game, i don't care, Sigel should have known better than to buddy with SOE, not that i think Microsoft would be a better option anyways.

Like i care if SOE is invoived , WOW you lag in vanguard , sucks to be you i play with every setting maxed at 1920 X1200 , my wife plays on a AMD 3200 , 2gigs and a X850 XT on the highest quality settings and we we loaded the game up on my son's computer i bought so long ago not even sure what is in it but the card is a 9600 pro lol and he could play on balanced , yes he lagged a little but he isnt a whining little baby so he is having all kinds of fun
That stink isn't SOE it is Brad. M$ ditched him when he mislead them. SOE gave them extra time and funding, but they still couldn't keep up with any schedule they created and told them their funding was ending. As much as a hate to say it the massive improvements all happened AFTER they were lent SOE programmers. Which just goes to show they have talented programmers, but morons leading all the projects.

Vanguard is a fantasy game, and the whole point is for the player to immerse themself in the fantasy.
Sure it is just a game, but when you are immersed and identifing with your character, you have to experience major frustrations when the game consistently crashes or will not run as you might reasonable expect.
Neither Sigil or SOE are charitable organisations or well meaning amateurs. They are not deserving of the benefit of the doubt or apologists jumping to their defence. They are hard nosed commercial operators who, if they were in any other line of business, might well be prosecuted for selling shoddy goods.
There is no excuse for the pathetic performance of the game and of SOE as it has affected so many players in the EU
(It seems that players on the US servers and time zones are getting a somewhat better deal)
From my own point of view, I like and enjoy the game. However, the past ten days have been a nightmare of glitches and problems, plus also crashes and cannot access.
As for Soe, they seem to practise the Mushroom Method.............. Keep you in the dark and throw shit on you several times a day.
