My Vanguard prediction

Sometime in the next six months Sigil will announce they are selling the game to SOE.

Sometime in the six months after that SOE announces the Vanguard NGE.

For all you people enjoying the game--make the most of it now because you will get shafted.

Why do the doom sayers always choose six months as the deadline for their conspiracy? Why not seven months or nine or thirteen? It's always the same six months.

In Internet terminology, a troll is a person who enters an established community such as an online discussion forum and intentionally tries to cause disruption, often in the form of posting messages that are inflammatory, insulting, incorrect, inaccurate, or off-topic, with the intent of provoking a reaction from others.

SWG was a bad game with a lot of potential even before NGE. cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it so you can buy Vanguard.

Maybe they will, maybe they won't... but that's aaaalright, 'coz in 6-12 months there will be other shinier toys to play with and as long as I have a shiny toy to play with, I'll be aaaaalrighty.

(Read: I don't give a damn no more because SOE taught me a very valuable lesson with the NGE. The lesson being that one should not get too emotionally attached to an MMORPG because when it comes down to it, it's just a game. Have fun today, don't worry about tomorrow.)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that SOE cannot be that stupid. I will give them the SWG fiasco. Mcquaid was gone from EQ1, Lucas Arts is breathing down their neck and Koster is thinking his little sandbox dancing Woookie approach is going to be great for SWG. I think everyone will get one "failure" or "mistake" however to fail at a license as big as Star Wars is pretty sad.

Anyway sorry your game got screwed, smg77 but I would hope that SOE realizes that Vanguard is most people's last chance dealing with Sony. If SOE buy Vanguard then Smed and Co. will have a big package of games with no "vision" or future and eventually will have 150,000 people left piddling around in them total. I can truthfully say that if they do this then Brad and SOE will lose any respect they might still have in the gaming community. This probably would mean more to Brad than Smed. SOE continues to pay him even though he can't seem to surpass even the original EQI's numbers with anything lately. Brad on the other hand actually has a descent rep that he will throw away.

I know If SOE buys the game and Brad leaves again, then I will go buy an Xbox 360 and a copy of the Burning Crusade and forget about all of this crap.

Wow this site is full of ex SWG'ers with a huge axe to grind. Not sure what that has to do with Vanguard though!

I'm always surprised some people actually liked SWG, ever....I remeber trying it after beta. Huge EMPTY world, you had to craft to make healing kits (puke) , no dungeons at release, no decent loot at release, huge faction grind to get pets, etc...,.all in all pretty crappy.

And then to get Jedi you had to max basically every single profession - talk about endless grind! I think the NGE came along because the game was doing so poorly anyways.

Sigil will not sell the game. Their Rep is tied to it, and they'll make more if they keep it.

Soe may try to buy Sigil, but I doubt it. It's just not a good deal for SOE.

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

I think you have it backwards. Most ex-SWG'ers quit the game AFTER the NGE and CU which were supposed to be improvements. Sure, there were alot of things wrong with the game (still is), but how many MMOs are pefect?

Out of all the games I have ever played, I had the most enjoyment out of SWG pre CU. Even after was alright.. but of course like many others I bailed when the NGE hit.

I don't care honestly...  They would be crazy to turn the game around too much because it would be exactly like their other games.  VG needs to stay different.

My girlfriend and I are having a BLAST playing Vanguard right now, but to tell the truth, if it ate shit and died in 6 months, I don't think I would shed a tear, because that's roughly when Warhammer is supposed to be hitting the shelves.  Even if it isn't out by then, I'll pre-order the game so I can get in to the "Closed Open Beta" they're planning so I can get my fix.

Yeah, but the scary thing is he could end up being right.

    Let's hope he isn't.

    My predicition.

The jolly green ranger fights to retain control and thanks to some hot shot lawyers succeeds. However to keep with the vision and to placate the 'hardcore' hamsters it is tweaked so as it takes killing a gazillion rats (6 weeks 24/7 grinding) to progress from L1 L2. Active subscribers fall to 10k that managed to 'beat ' the game before the screw was turned.

BMcQ does a runner  and SoE re-tweak it again re-attracting less hardcore players back. Meanwhile McQ is last seen pitching his vision for an ultra hardcore game where the death penalty is actual player death. The peripheral that plugs the users chair into the mains is made my Mattel. Ironically the 10k hardcore players from VG quit and sign up for Brads new game. A 'minor bug' (as one fanboi calls it) is responsible for randomly killing people. A reprasentative from the new company suggests that users turn off there firewall but there is no refund on the electric chairs and unplugging therm is strictly against the EULA.
