Yes, sorry about the title, it was a cheap tactic on my part, but under the other, more boring title no one was stopping by...
When I use "D2D" i'm just abbreviating Direct to Drive, not necessarily talking about any specific commercial vendor. I don't currently have a DVD-ROM drive for my comp... running an ancient Dell Dimension 8200 with somewhat revamped insides and I've been debating going the direct download route or just buying an external DVD-ROM drive off newegg.
When it first came up (during open beta) it said it would take about 4 hours (and I have a fast cable connection)
Took me about a day to download, cause it would d/c spontaneously, usually right after I stopped monitoring it.... so with 3 false starts, it finally got installed.

My friend tried D2D with DSL (512 down I think). It took an overnight attempt and unfortunately, his download file was bugged. He tried again, and it was bugged once more. So he gave up and ordered through EBgames.
What video card in there? A lot of the Dells don't ship with adequate ones for this.
I don't even remember what the original card was. I upgraded to a GeForce 6600 when I started playing EQ2. I'm currently upgrading to the GeForce 7800 GS as it's the best I can do as I'm limited to AGP for the time being... until I either get a new rig or change out the motherboard... Neither of those options is all that appealing... A new motherboard could mean a new processor and cheaper upgrades though, but after the 7800GS gets here, I really won't be able to upgrade the system with the current motherboard anymore.

Awesome. I have been a member for a while, but this is my first post. Simply because you got me with the WoW thing. Touche'
**Edit** And I'm only playing WoW cause my brother is paying for it so I'll play. (I don't like the game)
Nice title btw... I was expecting a flame war in here
I have a great cable connection and it took me somewhere around 3 hours or so to download the beta, but I didn't get it from D2D.
BTW, the topic is wrong. The best game ever is the one that I'm currently playing.
