so... the bad guys just respawn after you kill them?
Just like with every MMO out there I assume yes. Also spy themed game are NOT for minors only. Depence with game you take. Avarage MGS is an overall game for all ages. Splinter cell is a bit for older poeple, it a bit more complicated. So simply becouse you do not like spy themed games it does not mean it childish. Actualy Bond is not chilidish at all...you sister would even be to yough to buy an avrage Spy themed game without parents or there approval.
The game however could still be nice, but not as an MMO, maybe just an multiplay game. Also what have you seen what we have not? Made by the repairmen? No-one beside SoE employees have seen the game so where did you get you information from?
Do we even know anything about this game? What the settings are like? Gameplay? Do we even have a screenshot?
Sounds like all you boys are jumping on the Bandwagon and crying "Wolf" when you haven't even seen anything. They didn't even release a name yet, just that it was "Spy" themed, which could mean anything. And yet, we already have people saying what a retarded idea this is and how stupid, it will suck and never be a good MMO.
I played Galaxies also... I experienced the NGE... Not happy about... but I don't start spewing crap about any game SoE puts out or has a hand in... I can't be sure, but I think they learned a thing or two with the NGE (and are too proud or stuborn to admit it). I don't think it will happen again (Once again, don't know about that)...
However, this hatred of the game is just irrational. I'm going to keep my eye on this game considering MGS and Splinter Cell are some of my favorite game series out there. And I am always intrigued when MMOs try something diffrent, even if it is only a Diffrent setting.
Well SOE and a new mmo, they have the experiance no one can deny that (ragardless if its bad or good it is still experiance)I first read about it on Fargo's FileBlog (http://www.fileplanet.com/fileblog/) and what came to mind where MxO as you can already where a tux as for the scenery i'm thinking MxO again but it will be a updated version i supose. I meself can see a very nice Spygame beingcreated but i do not feel it should be a mmoprg, a online or co-op game maybe, but i feel a mmorpg can never take the essence of a full spygame. Will your ultimate goal be to become a sort of 007 ? and in the end having thousends and thousends of 007's walking around (flashback !! SWG..jedi's anyone?) hey just speculating here like the rest cause not even Yair Landau knows excactly what the game will be like.
Maybe they can take inspiration from Mad magazine's Spy vs. Spy

You people who say SOE should fix their existing games before making new ones just crack me up. Why should they? So many people are constantly saying they will never come back or never play another SOE game. So it doesn't make a lot of business sense to fix existing games if it isn't going to draw anyone in or bring anyone back does it? Seems to me if people aren't even willing to try a game again that has been fixed (SWG is a good example) then the next best thing to do is to try to create a new game that might draw people in.

I suppose you're right.
I suppose the best we can expect from SOE to compete with Blizzards 8 million people is to create 160 MMO's with 50 000 people on each game.
I take back my comment about SOE, I should know better than that. To be honest, I think the only messed up games that SOE is involved with is, well....none. I never played a bad SOE game. Hence, I never played SWG....and I enjoyed EQ2 very much.
So, Yes, I guess I am happy SOE is at least trying something new out. I mean, I don't care if they do screw this game up so bad that it's almost DnL all over. At least they are treding new waters. I really hope they can pull this game off though, I would love to try a spy like game...no more fantasy shit please, and leave sci-fi alone. Lets try a new world, new style game. Here's to SOE pulling it off!
btw...SOE haters, would you just shut up all ready? I hate EA alot, but I still think they have a decent game out there (BF series) and I don't complain about them, like how they messed up Ultima or UO. It is what it is.

Oh common now, it's not SOE I hate per se. Rather it's the current management at SOE.
Personally, as an ex-SWG customer, SOE could redeem themselves greatly by changing it's management.
I too enjoyed EQ2, but I didn't think it was spectacular. Nothing in SOE's arsenal seems to be spectacular and that's what I expect from a "leading MMO company". Nothing is ground-breaking. They insist on releasing the tried and true standard of MMO's, and that's the last thing the market needs right now.
Remeber, Smedley is also saying that there are several other IPs in the works. Without any genuine innovation then I fear these products will falter.
As consumers we should be demanding innovation, not accepting mediocrity.
hmm actually this sounds interesting ... i think people got the wrong impression when they said spy. people think James Bond obviously, i did too at first.
but then i thought about 24 (which i just squeeled when they mentioned it), and while Jack Bauer is the main focus of the show there are plenty of other agents working to thwart the enemy. maybe instead of james bond its more like Mission impossible ... where there is a whole agency of spies that need to be put together in order to save the world.

But what company is really doing anything great out there? None to be honest. I might say EA Mythic for WAR and Funcom for AoC, but we won't know until the games are released. If I were to gives props to a MMo company, it would probably have to be NCsoft, while all their games arn't that great, at least they try something new and support companies that try something new. SOE might be going the same way, but like I said, we won't know if it's good until it's released. Right now there is no real great MMo out there, and I blame that on risk, which no company seems to want to take when creating a game. So...here is to 3rd gen being successful? So far Vanguard has not shown us that.

Well, that's my point. There was a time when SWG was called revolutionary and ground breaking..... but then the NGE happened to mainstream the game.
Lots of bitter SOE haters, it gets a bit ugly. I have never played SWG or Matrix Online, so I can't say I am a hater. I have played EQ2 and PS and I beta'd Vanguard for six months...so I am not completely oblivious to SOE. I don't have a problem with them, I'm just not too hip on any game they currently have out.
Still, I am impressed with them attempting something different. I will keep an eye on it.
I would like to see a MMORPG with a theme similar to the old PnP game "Twighlight 2000" that would be interesting.
Very interesting indeed. Slowly, but surely the MMO universe is exploring other genres. Whether or not the game turns out to be anything special, it's a step in the right direction.

The SOE haters and trolls rally to the cause like flies on poop!
Sounds intriguing.
If it turns out to be first person in the vein of Planetside, I'd definately give it a go.
Yeah, they screwed up SWG blah blah blah. It pissed me off as much as anyone, but get over it and get over yourselves for christ sakes.
That's a good analogy for SOE - poop!

So begun the spy wars have...
Maybe they can take inspiration from Mad magazine's Spy vs. Spy
Maybe they would make a "Mission Impossible" game.
Because it is Impossible for SOE to not screw up a game.
To tell the truth I'm actually shocked that SOE has come up with an original idea.
However, how can you go undercover when everyone knows you're a spy?
If everyone is a spy wouldn't the best disguise be to not be a spy?
I suppose you're right.
