It's the ones who are not saying anything about VANGUARD that Sigil and their supporters should be worried about. The forums are full of VANGUARD lovers and haters and a fewer number of people like me who fall somewhere in between. But just like politics, the majority are silent, yet they will decide whether this game is a success or disappointment. I won't say failure because its too early to know that. Once we know what SOE's sub numbers are and what the game looks like in a month or two, then some clarity will enter the situation.

By the way, your poll excludes a lot of people because it only allows for extreme views. I do care, but I definitely do not love the game.

Gimpster, I think the majority of people who play VG feel Sigil has a lot to look forward to.  They built a winning product and one need only play it to realize that.  Both friends whom I've brought to the game enjoy the heck out of it.   And I know a lot of people waiting on the sidelines primarily because of old hardware.

Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.
In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit

These polls are beginning to get really old.

There's a Game Rating feature on MMORPG.com that's much more useful.

Yeah... neither option suits me.  During beta I really thought this was going to be a great game... when all the major bugs were worked out.  The close they got to launch without addressing those issues, and still implementing major game mechanic changes, the less faith I had in it ever coming together.  In 6 months it might be worth looking at, but by then there will be a few other choices anyway.

I too think it's too early to clearly define the success of Vanguard.  I've decided based on the current situation of Vanguard not to even try it yet.  Maybe at a later date, maybe not since there are so many more MMOs now & being released.  I'll probably be returning my (2) unopened CEs though this weekend because of how Sigil & SOE are handling matters.  So far I don't think anyone has said that the launch of "EQ3" has been overwhelmingly good though.  Vanguard was rushed & because of that it has suffered.  If Sigil & SOE still cares beyond the profit margin then I'm betting Vanguard will become better & more accessible to players/customers in time.

Hated it in beta and didn't waste money buying it. Looks like EQ2 with taller mountains and slower

game. Same old thing, grind, grind and grind somemore. No personality, pushes groups strongly!!!

Sony bought in and now it really sux!

Damn straight so am I, if that is some what lacking like I feel VGSoH (good game but brings nothing new to the table and feels like a rehash of assorted games and doesn't have the wow factor for me - wow as in oooh thats a top game) then I will probably go back to FPS games (simple quick fix) until the Stargate MMO is ready.

I was not too impressed with EQ2's graphics.  The models looked pretty good but i found the envrions a letdown.  The "channel you to and fro" feel made it feel like  herded experience - as did GW.  The reverse seems true in VG - the environs are rich and massive - but the character models were pretty bland - despite the mind-numbing customization options (all those options and only 4 VERY lame hairstyles - the humans look so bad I could only bring myself to roll a Kojan human.

It may not be a widely scalable game suited for older rigs  There are obviously games to fill that slot  - whose huge successes likely HINGE on the ability to be installed and played by many.  If a game runs like  crap on your machine consistently you will likely not continue to subscribe - nor recommend it to friends.

There is a lot of potential in VG to put folks off - greatly depending on their expectations and which games they might be migrating from.  If you are more accustomed to less demanding games (whether that be on you or your system) and your expectations are founded on that experience - this is likely to disappoint.  If they had a 3 way RvR . . . . shudder to think.  I liked DAOC and EQ  (but they are dated enough I cant go back - despite several attempts) - I gave EQ2 a few chances and tried WoW on four seperate occasions (damn peer pressure!!).

I am older (who am i kidding I am a goddamned geezer) now and my kids are in high school so i should have less time and be looking for a more casual game - but dammit man i NEED GAME just to sublimate all the work-related stress out.  I can hop in and run around for an hour - accomplish absolutely NOTHING in terms of character advancement - -get killed several times trying to run through the center of the island and wind up logging with XP debt and still have enjoyed myself.  It's perverse and doesn't make any sense . . . although one of our sons shames me so regularly in BF2142 I guess it all became relative.

Oddly I hear more about THIS game from people who have never played it. (and at times this approached a fever pitch worse than he last election cycles).

To mention Vanguard is to welcome a flurry of "OH  THEN YOU SHOULD BE PLAYIING ___"

If you like it - play it.

If you don't - play something else.
