Did they mention if open beta characters would carry over to the new game?
Only if you preorder.

Also keep in mind that there will most likely be a cap to the level ofthe chaacter you take from beta. You won't be able to just get to any level you want (well, inside the cap you can, but won't be ableto exceed the cap). A lot of people are speculating the cap will be between level 10 and 20.

Which is a good thing. I don't want to be level 50 before most people even start to play!

How do I know? Because I already played it, yesterday.
You can't use the mouse for anything and to move is like a FPS game, using WASD keys.
Uh such a great argument I mean only almost all US games use this system only shitty Korean systems make you click repeatedly in an annoying fashion to move somewhere. Oh and btw they're still under an NDA SO stop breaking it!!
Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!
this game looks so tight and im a rele oober big lotr fan but how much will it cost if ther is cost and how long willl beta b plus idk if im want to play this game since i already am paying for another thats 15$ a month
I got a beta key for the stress test a couple weekends agon, downloaded the game ran all the patches and such and the servers are locked out... I thought maybe they are doing maintance, well tried several other times on different days and still the same thing... Any ideas as to why I would be sent a key and it not allow me access to the servers?
The stress test was like 2 weeks ago i think you missed it.

Hahahaha! real mmorpg is with WASD movement ... this is not asian or korean mmorpg so... this is MMorpg not KoreantaratalkaORPG
movement same as wow ...and you use mouse as much as they use in wow.. i didnt like this game either but movement is good ..
graphic looks like DDO and i hate DDO x) never liked Turbine .. but i did only try til lvl 6 x) i think this game got a chanse
LoL,
This is good stuff, please list for me a "real" western MMO thats worth a sh*t. (or an Asian one for that matter) WoW can be set up point and click or vice versa. Lineage 2 defaults to point and click but you can go WASD in options. So whats the point about the movement? Its a personal preferance. Some players like point and click, some like WASD.
You didn't like DDO graphics (and I agree, the art was horrible) so you line this one in with it....FPS are much more popular MMO's. WASD and non-mouse look is NOT PC standard. (its called RPG settings or something) Even then most RPG's are also point and click move as are all RTS games. Even Oblivion is not WASD, its a FPS setup.
You guys and this goofy WASD thing here in MMO's The only thing MMOs do well is the auto attack thing so you button mash specials and call it "skill". It really is annoying. Movement method means ZERO, most games can be set up however you want. MMOs have a real issue with things like ......oh.......having a point........to much grind..........very poor / low production qualities........just see Vanguard for the latest example of a poorly executed MMO.
you sound like a mmorpg hater. Then if so why the hell are you on this site. Go play Oblivion then.
You sound pretty f**king rude. Did you read what I was bonging him about? His silly remarks about WASD movement. Yeah I'm pretty jaded but I think thats pretty clear in my post history. You want to know why, comb through and figure it out. Did I say at any point I "hated" MMO's, Sherlock???

Well I think lately I have been coming off a bit harsh about MMO's and fauxhall, not knowing the reasons, took me for a hater. I guess I can understand that.
The most loyal fans are often the harshest critics.
MMO need to evolve and change. OK, we can cut LotRs some slack because its the grand daddy of them all. Here you can say its cool there is another game with Elves and Dwarves and Orcs and Goblins....cause its Tolkien and Middle Earth I'm all on board with this one.
But really, beyond that, we need more fantasy games that have "go kill 10 rats" with "raids" and "Elves and Dwarves" like we need more popution in the atmosphere. Someone needs to break the mode of the MMO because other PC game types are catching up. I know I wrote this before but I will again....
Other genres are closing the gap with MMO's. More and more PC games are getting persistant qualities and have better overall gameplay/storylines. Hell, Battlefield 2 even has a persistant character you "rank" up. MMOs rely much to heavily on time sink hoping to keep players long term rather then engaging, interesting and fun gameplay. Thats why they die off so fast. WoW and GW, for all its faults, is the first MMO to really do this. (although WoW has almost zero RP qualities, it is very fun to play) Vanguard is about as far off the mark as you can get.
The guy is correct in this asumption, I do think games like Oblivion, NWN/NWN2, vampire...(blah blah) are better RPG's. In fact, MMOs are hardly even RPG's and claim it only in the technical sense. Leveling up numbers and chasing loot doesn't make a game an RPG. Its missing the critical elements of "moral choice" and "plot". Without either of those, its not an RPG. All levels are is a game mechanic and loot is just a prop. Kill task and fed-x type content are meaningless unless they propel some sort of plot forward. In most cases, they don't. The goal is a trinket or some XP or cash. (math and props) If MMO's keep up their current trend, they are gonna "kill task" themselves right out of the market.
Seems this thread went a bit off key... Question, when is the Open Beta going to be? Anyone know? Would love to beta this game.
