sorry me and my friend are having a big argument over this i say its one and he says no thier are serperate realms like wow then i said then howcome eve has the record for most players on a server 33k
You should tell your friend that a WoW realm is made up of several servers as well. The single eve realm (2 now with the chinese one, and then there are 2 test realms, one in-house and one public) is just made up of much more servers.
"Memories are meant to fade. They're designed that way for a reason."
Generally the term for multiple realms is "shards" not "servers" as all MMO worlds run on server clusters.
So a given WoW server (lets call it Frosthome) will be running on multiple physical machines linked together in a server cluster. The total population on that server cluster (the "shard") is a few thousand.
EVE runs on a single "shard" made up of dozens of server machines with a much higher concurrent player limit than a WoW shard could ever have (as long as the player base stays spread out among all the various systems so that no one machine has to deal with a lot of player info at once).
One of the problems with Eve is lag because of the way its server is designed, it is hard to figure out where people are going to go and what not, imagine the lag/crashing if everyone in game went to jita at the same time....
seems lag in Eve is inevitable....
========================== The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.
