This isn't fun!

So I borrowed the game from the library and entered my code and I created an account successfully.

Then I created a warrior on the PvP server cuz I wanted to jump straight into the action. Chose my skills after about two hours of deliberation...

So I finally get into the PvP arena and we face off against the other team. We win.

Then we lose another game with another team.

We win again..

But winning doesn't feel like winning because it's like watching a broken record, with all of the same abilities being used over and over and seeing your opponent cast the same spells, only to revive after all his HP is done.. Even if we win the match, I feel like I busted over 30 minutes playing a repetitive game. It's not fun, and not twitch based. All I did was tell my teammates who to attack first...

Anyway, I started on th PvE world and it was such a drag, and a grind. Don't give me that 20 levels in 12 hours crap, I can easily manage level 20 in 6, but the thing is that it is a grind to play, not a grind to level. They're two different things. It feels no different from anything else even though it has better graphics. I could care less about the instancing thing, but the game attack animations and repetitiveness of killing monsters and doing quests over and over is just boring as hell. The PvP isn't as exhilarating as the duels or PvP in WoW, which I quit.

I recently put my socks in the washing machine... man was that boring all it did was spin around and around and around then rinsed off every few minutes or so... so I went and played guildwars instead of watching my socks get washed... maybe you'd enjoy watching your socks get washed? thats the only solution I have for this monumental delima you've presented us with.

If you are still under 18 then whatever words your parents say are curse words are curse words

Sometimes I watch my socks get washed.  Or dried really, not washed...  Like last week the dryer was broken, so I had to goto the laundry mat.  There was some weird guy staring at me, so I did the only logical thing and watched my socks dry.

A little OT, but I thought I'd tell the tale. Back then I was young and inexperienced, and I thought that Mist Form was seriously strong and one of the best skills an Ele had (I loved the old Ether Renewal too).
Right now, my favourite skill would be Gale. :P

Ok first off, there isn't any "PvP server". That might seem like a small detail, though your credibility might take a dent if you fail to properly state something as simple as this right from the start.

Also, what kind of game did you join? Was it random arenas?

Again, what kind of PvP was that? Did you happen to fight the exact same teams over and over?

    What campaign have you played?

Ermm every character of a given class in WoW has the same spells available all the time, besides some extras from talents. Now I don't understand your complaint about the "repetitiveness" of the PvP in GW...

Guild Wars in not to play alone or just hanging in it without joining a Guild. As you can infer from the game, it is more about Guilds.

Getting maximum level is too easy as you say but being master about gameplay and PvP is not that easy and i still would say that %40 of the GW players is playing worse than my heroes :S. I have tried the killing Varesh 10-15 with players and can"t even finished it in standart level but i had managed to complete it masters with my heroes at only my first try :D.

So that just be a bit patient about the game then you can be addict of the GW.

Feeling kinda the same like the OP about the game.

First I installed and thought wow that game looks cool, good art and all could be a good game. But then the spells of my mage were so damn boring, every new spell I got looked / did kinda the same and there are no real graphical effects for spells, its just so damn boring. I thought maybe Iam getting later spells with at least some graphics ^^ but nope looks all same then I quit after hitting lvl11.

Ive tried then PvP with a premade char, omg I dunno but that was the worst experience ever that was even more boring, sure I was / Iam a newb but still there was really not even a piece of fun involved.

So Iam asking why in the hell are the spells so damn boring made ? No graphical effects, nothing. Firebolts / balls flying in curves ? no bam effect ^^ yea really its like I said boring :P all other spells are the same. Did I mention the spells are boring ? lol. I mean maybe not the spells in general but that they have no real graphical effects, no good sounds etc ....

And why the hell you are bashing the OP just cause he gave his opinion ? Just cause he doesnt like what you like .... its a forum to discuss, to share opinions etc. you know ?

    really disapointed.

Well the fact that there are no "uber" spells in Guild Wars seems to kind of be the point of the skill system because if that was the case it wouldn't have made sense for the developers to make hundreds of different skills since everyone would just be using the best spells available.

Instead it appears that the skills were made to be combined in effective ways which allows a lot of tactical tinkering and that is the reason why I see people using all kinds of skills in pvp, even some which I had considered useless before. If there was a "Bam ! you're dead" skill that wouldn't be possible. In the first review I read about GW one of the testers was complaining that he would constantly feel like just a part of a team rather than the lone hero who owns everyone and that seems to be the very idea of this game.

I also couldn't complain about the spells not being *flashy* enough since guild battles are already confusing enough as it is with all the spells being thrown around. If they were any more flashy I think people would be having trouble with keeping focus on what is going on around them and I have a feeling that the developers had this in mind when they were designing the skills.

Because, obviously, fun in the game is dictated by how pretty spell effects look. Spells effects are boring and underwhelming, henceforth the game sucks.

Well, i agree with u about spells graphics. Even in this system, sometimes i can't see what i am doing. Think about that YouTube Video that comes from FF-VII, in Guild Wars PvP. Two of players do smthing like in that video and the whole battle area became confusing and game-play suddenly crash. So i think that GW has the nearly best graphics in the MMORPGs and it is really enough for that type of game.

Did you ever play Diablo? Neverwinter Nights? Any RPG?
That is what Guild Wars PvE is about, not level grinding like some moron. Guild Wars PvE is about playing a storyline, advancing your character, gaining access to new skills, abilities, friends, etc, through questing.
Guild Wars PvE is NOT about "OMG OMG OMG I GOT TO LEVEL 70 IN A WEEK YOU NOOB!!!"
You see, that is why Guild Wars is not an MMORPG, it's an ORPG.

OMG! Someone who finally has a clue as to what games are about.  Everyone here and in the WoW areas yell about graphics and level caps and all the other crap that in the long run, doesn't make this game.  The storyline.  That's what makes these games.  If you are playing a game because it looks "ub3r c001 zomg!!111oneone!111!!" then you're missing the point.  Zelda was and still is, a great game because there was a storyline that was really good.  If you don't like GW, that's fine.  You don't have to.  But using claims of "repetitive" as your base argument is just plain retarded.

If the first reasons someone gives for not liking a game is graphics and "repetitive actions" or, my fav so far the spell casting actions... then your whole review of a game gets ignored by anyone with an IQ above 70.
