Someone who doesn't pvp, or sucks at pvp

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

Someone who only plays a PvE part of a game instead of PvP.  It is making fun of the feel-good cartoon Care Bears created in the early 1980's.    It used to be considered an insult by the Player Killer personality toward the other mmorpg personalities which do not participate in PvP.  Now it is generally just a claim that someone only plays PvE.

right...it basically boils down to the fact that a lot of pvp'ers are elitist douche nozzles who think people who don't pvp are somehow lesser gammers.

For the record, I love pvp.

I should have known Draenor was an elitist douche nozzle.

The only PvP in an mmorpg that I liked was DAOC's RvR.  No other game really got me excited other than FPS.  Maybe if I had been willing to grind in L2 I might have liked that as well.

Is that what it really means? I thought it was just a dumb insult to call fanboys. Wow, what's the problem with people not wanting to PvP? Almost 2/3rds of PvP in MMO's are unfair anyway.

Just a quick quote from wiki for those interested:

Player versus monster or PvM is the traditional system used in most MUDs (as opposed to player versus player, which focuses primarily on combat between human players). In some games (notably Lineage II) it is called Player versus Enemy/Environment or PVE.

Players who prefer PvE or other non-confrontational styles of play are often referred to by the slang term Carebears. This is a reference to the popular 80's American cartoon show the Care Bears.

Grouping with other players for PvE encounters is also another form of PvP itself. You can roll for items against other players, and you compete with players to make good groups.

The term "Carebear" originated in the online game Ultima Online when it referred to a method of dealing with particularly violent playing styles. The joke originally started on the Crossroads of Britannia message board where there were two large groups of roleplayers, one from Chesapeake and the other from the Lake Superior server. The latter were more into PvP and the former a more peaceful style of roleplaying. The Chesapeake group referred to the LS group as the "biker gang" and the "Carebear" term was put on the Chesapeake group. One night, the Chesapeake group invaded Silk's Tavern on Lake Superior by creating throwaway characters with names from the original TV show and "attacked" the assorted group of people roleplaying at the tavern. The attackers used hugs and "Carebear Stares!" to cuddle up with the LS group - frustrating them greatly in the middle of a large melee with other PvP groups.

The real start of this came when a PK guild, KOC, repeatedly attacked the non-violent roleplaying sessions of a group on the Chesapeake server at their tavern. Elawyn of Yew, one of the roleplayers, initiated a policy of not fighting back and carrying no items to steal, thus giving no satisfaction to the griefers.

You're being hypocritical if you are accusing me of demonizing those who think differently, all you would have to do to see that is look at your signature and avatar.  It's an obvious mockery or what 80% of this country believes in, yet you accuse me of demonizing others?

Aside from that though, I'm not sure why you felt that this was an appropriate place to "call me out".  My post was meant to be somewhat humorous, you turned it into something nasty...I only have one person on these forums blocked, but you're pushing it.

Touchet sir. Your move was the correct one. You win the prize!

We are a bit alike I suppose in that one way, although we're on opposite sides of a very tall fence. Enemies must call each other out from time to time you see. And you're right, 80% of this country is ignorant, and I hope that changes one of these days. Although I believe the figure is much higher than 80%, if you consider that all religions are the same but with a different fictional story to back the common sense message it supposedly provides.

But I'll tell you this much. If I were to believe in any religion, it would be one that has been refered to as mythology for many years. Why? Because it dates back much further than any currently practiced religion, and says the same shit. If your "god" exists, then so does Zeus, the egyptian pharohs were also demigods, cats and cows should be worshiped, and the earth is flat.

And heres a fun little tidbit of information for you. Take a fictional book, fantasy preferably, one that tells about a time before technology reigned, have a few people learn this story by heart. Put them off in their own little colony outside of civilization, and get them to have kids. Now the fun begins... As these kids are growing up, teach them this story. Don't teach it as a story, but as fact. Teach them that this story MUST be believed or they will all go to some specific very bad place where they will spend all of eternity in some undescribably bad situation. Let a decade or 2 go by, then throw in people that have a different viewpoint.

By this time the kids in this makeshift community will believe (I suppose know is a better word, for it is taught to them as fact) that what they were raised upon is an indisputable fact. And since the nonbelievers are the minority, the nonbelievers will be persecuted, the believers, no matter how much logic and reason is thrown at them, will never come around to the nonbeliever's thinking, because that is how they are raised. Now let thousands of years go by. Obviously the majority of believers are going to have the majority of the children, and the margin of believers to nonbelievers will stay the same.

Get the point? Now apply this comparitively with how the real world is currently. See any similarities? Of course you do, but do you see any differences? I don't. Now your first response is to call all of this a theory and a made up story. Of course it is a made up story, but simply psychology backs up my point just the same. Welcome to the world of religion Draenor. Know that there is just as much proof of the existance of Zeus, hell theres just as much evidence for the existence of Gandalf, Frodo, and Sauron that there is of your god, or anyone else's.

One day the world will wake up, but I fear I won't live to see it happen.

I'm not a fan of sushi, and people more well versed than you have tried many times to evangelize me. Rational thought wins out every time, and they usually leave the conversation steaming pissed and frustrated. As long as religious thought remains the majority, it will remain largely unquestioned. 9/10 people are followers, otherwise a leader would be useless. The world needs more true leaders.

If they attempt to evangelize only to leave unsuccessful and pissed off, then they have their own issues to work out.  If you want to get into rational thought:  What came before the big bang?  What put that cloud of swirling gas there?  To me that is the ultimate in illlogical thought from Atheists.

I am a carebear, but thats what I prefer although I personaly do not think lesser of a pvp'er  because everyone has their own style of play and I realize that. The thing that pisses me off is people who constantly attack care bears even when we do not  fight back, I honestly think if you realize if someone is a carebear you should leave them alone,,,,, because I always thought the reason for pvp is the challenge but what fun is it if you are the only one hitting?

PVP is guy stuff anyway,, ( women are usualy not that agressive )for the most part.

Sand box implies that the world is very free to do whatever you want, with very few restrictions on what the player can do.  Games like Roma Victor are said to be sand box games because the player has a lot of freedom to do whatever they want and build their character however they wish.  Games like World of Warcraft would not be considered sandbox, because most of the game is very regimented and controlled.

And no, I don't play RV, and never have.

    There is a difference.

A sandbox MMO is more like real life. Basically, you're allowed to do just about whatever you want. The economy is player-run, there is usually a stronger sense of community, stuff like that. Think SWG back in the day, Ryzom, or UO.

Another definition of a carebear is someone who complains a certain aspect of a game is too hard and starts petitions on the forums and ralys support to get it changed to something les hard to beat therefore its amking the game safer hence the term carebear.

An example is if a class is seen by some to be too powerfull in PvP so they make some noises and get it nurfed.

I'm sure that seems a little more reasonable but i think people use it more for it's other definition.

NDA stands for non disclosure agreement, it is something that you sign when you go into the closed beta test of almost any game...it means that you are not allowed to talk about any aspect of the game that has not already been released by the developers of the game.  In some cases, you aren't even allowed to tell others that you are under the NDA.
